  1. google lens came up empty on the last photo, Cherleze Theron?
We are making a deal with EDM and it will be one of our two goalies, probably Jake the Snake.
It makes no sense to carry half of Carrey cap, just to make a trade, we can buy him out cheaper three or four years from now. Or he could be an anchor for a cup win at 39

    1. I'm with Grant McCagg - keep TFS and see if we're not right back in the race next season.

      Charlize Theron, I'm 99% certain.

Jake the Snake would help them, do it. The Habs can run with Full Monty and David Niven for the rest of the year. Move on from Chariot of Fire, GI Finn, Lord Byron, Kaddilak. Get this team healthy, shore up the D with Northlander, Harris, Ghoul and get Price back in the net. Also, get a coach with half a brain.

Lots of chatter on the internet about trading Carey Price. Brian Wilde advocates trading CP31 to the Oilers for some kid named Dylan Holloway and a 1st round pick, plus. Grant McCagg says keep him, he's still an elite goalie. I agree with McCagg. Fuck the Oilers and fuck McDavid and Leon, if they can't win too bad. You don't trade Carey Price you get him some help, build around him which Bergevin and Gauthier failed to do. Price still has a few elite years left in him keep him. Can I get a hell yeah?

      So hell yeah from me.

    2. Hell Yeah! I say keep him. I do agree with BW's assesmentof the Oil btw - they are missing the goalie that wins/steals them the key games you need to win a Cup. And the Habs are not nearly as bad as the record they have right now...considering it's most AHLers...

    1. Wow, great hire. I was shocked to see she has been in the media biz for 38 years! Figure she must've started when she was 5, but she's 57. Aging better than this young 52 year old fella!

I also believe they will hire Darche as GM and Emilie Castonguay as assistant GM. I only know what I've read about her, but it's all good as far as I can tell. Gorton has 2 hands so he can handle 2 puppets.

      Delete
    2. Meant to add that Madden is my co-choice for GM. Again, don't know a lot about him but he checks all the boxes as they say. I just wonder if Darche Vader's time with the Habs counts...probably not in Gorton's books I suppose.

    3. An excellent choice to replace Wilson, and - in the spirit of preparing for the last war lost - imagine her voice in the room last summer when Mailloux's name was suggested. At least we won't see another episode like that again.

I was going to mention the dark cloud still hanging over the organization. Gorton, or his aide, have to throw that fish back in the water, sooner rather than later. Good hire by Molson, he's slowly cleaning the dirt off his nice car.

Chantal is still too young for me. :p

Regarding all the chatter (bs) about Gorton possibly trading Carey Price, I would like to point out that he did NOT trade Henrik Lundqvist out of New York when they initiated their rebuild. They did let him walk as a UFA and that's fair as they had Shesterkin and Georgiev in their system.

Speaking of c3p0, I watched the first two episodes of the Book of Bobba Fett last night. I gave up on the Star Wars saga some time ago but thought I would check it out. It's OK, has a few funny moments, but only die hard fans will be excited I think.

    3. Watched the first episode last week. It's OK. I like the Mandalorian. I am far more a Trekkie than a Star Warrior or whatever those fans are called, but i enjoy all that is sci-fi so will watch even if I don't know the whole story/backgrounds.

  8. Starting to wonder how all our sick Habs are doing. Only half a line-up (including all Rockets callu-ups!) are out of COVID-19 protocol and/or back from injury. The heath system is near collapse here though, with some 20,000 HCW out sick and 30,000 out on long-term leave.

It's at the point even playing a game seems frivolous, with the doomsday scenario of Level 4 care (ultimate triage). I think they should think of sending healthy Habs into hospitals with crash courses in how to move patients safely as a way to help PABs - and lift the spirits of our HCWs and patients. Mrs. SiM and all her colleagues are on the brink of total burn-out. Not sure where it'll go from here, but I have never thought we'd get to a point a simple fall on the stairs could leave someone permanently disabled due to a supreme rationing of care. The system in Quebec is in bad bad shape.

Be safe everyone, and reduce your contacts to the nth degree. At least Ozark S4 is coming in two weeks. Looking forward to that.

It's not much better here in NB. Lots of HCW's out with Covid, all elective surgeries have been cancelled. The Health networks are bracing for a tsunami of cases over the next few weeks.

Man, we got walloped yesterday with a No'theaster, we got at least 30cm of snow with high winds. My next door neighbour came over with his snowblower and did my driveway, God bless him. Looking after the senior citizen.

BTW, Mrs. TheM and I never got Covid and the grandkids parents didn't either. That is weird.

Finally, Grant McCagg was slobbering over the sex offender last night. Just for the record, I will NEVER acknowledge that pick or cheer if he eventually joins Montreal. Can't do it. I don't think he will ever be sorry for what he did as a priviledged, entitled hockey player.

@Saint Paddy, I don't know if you follow the Q closely, Saint John underwent a massive transformation on Thursday at the trade deadline. Big 10 player (including draft picks) swap with the Moncton Wildcats and other veteran players picked up from Quebec based teams. Marek had a rumour going the Dogs were supposed to get Elliot Desnoyers from Halifax but they must have wanted too much because it didn't happen. It will be interesting to see if the games can be played.

  10. Bitterly cold but beautifully sunny here. I have an 8 year-old who has been away from anyone her age to play with since her last day at school, which was the 21st. I want her off the screens a bit but there is nowhere to go except shopping, with throngs of mask-under-my-nosers. Scrabble and cards it is again.

  11. Well final week of NFL. Tied for first in my Against the Spread league, with 5 more within 3 games. Tough week for picking games with Covid, guys sitting with nothing to play for, etc.
$1800 to the winner. If I pull it off it may be time for my first set of new to me clubs...but we'll see. When I won this and the survivor pool 5 years ago, I paid for Mrs Pad's Mediterranean cruise with her friends. Time for something for me...or put it on debt.

Anyway I'm happy to have football to watch as I have lost all interest in hockey.

We'll just watched the Rams probably blow my shot of at least ending inna tie for first, allowing SF to go 88 yards in a minute. Need a Rams TD in OT to save me. Pats let me down too.

Oh well my team is in the playoffs. I can't complain, it's been a surprise of a season.

  15. Bergevin hired by the Kings as Senior Advisor to GM Blake. Makes me think of a classic joe jackson line from Don't Wanna Be Like that:

  17. Well that was way too late for me, but your Steelers dodged a bullet with a last second field goal by the Raiders.
As a kid, I liked the Raiders. We didn't get a lot of American football, but I think the Raiders of the late 70's/early 80s when I started paying attention were just more media darlings so we heard more about them, and I probably liked the black and silver. I became a Pats fan in 1990 when I moved to BC and they were all Seahawk fans (with a few Vikings/Packers too). So I started cheering for the team closest to home on the east coast. That was a rough year to start cheering for that team. THey were bad. Thankfully I wasn't able to watch most of the games. They may have won 2 or 3 that year.
I was this close ' ' to switching allegiances to the Bills (shudder)...losing those 4 SB in a row in the 90s would have been a killer.

    1. What a wild and exciting game.

I lived close to Buffalo, so the Bills were front and centre on sports news.

Loved the 70s Steelers, stayed loyal.

Don't mind the Bills but the mediots make it like they are from tronna.

      Delete
    2. the Maritimer12:06 PM

Oakland had really good teams in the '70s, Raiders, A's, the Seals, not so much.

I didn't really have a favourite NFL team until the early 90's, I liked Phil Simms and Lawrence Taylor and New York was a team I could see occasionally so I adopted them. I always hated the Bruins so could never, ever cheer for any team from Boston.

So far, Chicago, Miami, Minnesota and Denver have fired their HC's, still waiting on NY, please let it be soon. I would take any of those fired guys over Judge.

    1. Also, though I'm not FROM Halifax, I've lived here nearly half my life and there is a close tie to Boston dating back to the Explosion, when Massachusetts sent lots of military, doctors, aide, etc. and of course we send them a tree every Christmas. But I understand the dislike of the Pats. Especially in the Brady era, the coverage was sickening. I felt like a dirty leaf fan with the bias...difference being of course the Pats were actually WORTH the love, while the bukake the leafs get on a regular basis is just sad and pathetic.

Hard to imagine a new person in that role retaining Judge.
Good luck with that and your 2 first rounders. I predict they don't take a QB.

      Delete
    2. the Maritimer11:03 AM

No, they won't take a QB, they need help on the OL and DL. Nos. 5 and 7 should get them some help there. Apparently they are looking at several options for GM, the new guy has to keep Mara at bay if he wants any success. They will let Judge start the season but if they go 0-4 to start they better fire his ass. I'm hoping they can get QB Russell Wilson out of Seattle, Jones can be the backup.
