I agree 100%. You see on social media childish interactions between fan bases about all sorts of things like my player is better than your player nanana booboo etc. I pass over those though often feel compelled to comment because some fans are too dumb for words, some Habs fans included. And I see this actual argument how Cole just seems like a nicer person and leaf fans fight the fact saying "what's wrong with Matthews, watch an interview"...anyway it leads me to the question that if he were a Hab, would he be less douchey? There would be no Bieber so yes right away. And even if still douchey, would Habs fans wear the same blinders? Probably. I forget where I was going with this...Google ate my comment and now I've recreated it much less eloquently...was trying to think of a Hab I didn't like because if the way he acted. There have probably been some but Claude Lemieux comes to mind for his on ice theatrics and I can remember him turtling once too often.
I don't know. Cole good. Matthews bad. But I'd take him on my team in a heartbeat if he's scoring 69 goals.
Trust me, this made so much more sense (and was much shorter) the first time I tried to post.
IF matthews was a Hab, the SFU wouldn't give him the time of day if he scored 80 goals. So, without all the center of the universe adulation he would be instantly more likeable. The toronto media are responsible for all the hate directed at narcos.
Just remembered I had been working on a Space Oddity parody simply because I liked the line "This is tank command to Major Dom You've really made the grade And the bloggers want to know whose suits you wear"
But I ran out of creativity juice. Then he stepped through the door and floated off in the most peculiar way...or something.
I'll ask again. What is the point of Hoffman? I'm liking Devi the more I see of him but Hoffman shouldn't be on the PP with Suzuki and Caufield if he's just going to shoot from the point. Maybe Hughes gives somebody a mid round pick to take him this summer.
Another bergy signing gone bad. I doubt anyone will take him but you never know.
I see next season as a transitional one, I don't see this year's pick being impactful, maybe Wright could play but I hate to see him rushed. Montreal needs to keep some vets, I think only Petry gets dealt as per his request. If Price is healthy they will be competitive, possibly a wild card team with some luck and health. I wouldn't be upset with another lottery pick next year.
It's games like this one that show their is still a lot of work to be done.
Nick and CC need a good defensive winger. Lep's best days are behind him, sadly. The Hoff is off. Basically, the Habs need more elite skill. The young D need more experience. Need Price back with Allen as a decent backup.
Marty will get them there, just needs more to work with.
Missed all the fun but John Lu is reporting that it's confirmed the Yotes are getting the Habs lower 1st round pick from the Canes (not our top 10 one) due to the wizardry of the moves and some clause in the Devo trade.
I have noticed a super drop-off in the Habs' general competence since the losses of Leko, Kulak and Eggs. It's gonna be a real grind to play out the string.
I think we all expected there would be a drop off in results after the TDL. They still have been in every game though, no more embarrassing losses under the douche and, still watchable with Slick Nick and CC, even though they were a little off last night. We can tough out 9 more games, maybe win a couple and not hurt the draft position. Please, hockey gods, anywhere but the 3rd hole, that spot is cursed.
I see where you're going with #3 but I think it was the mismanagement of those #3 picks. That won't be an issue. This new management team from HuGo to Chantal to Marty is incredible. I was on the Tkachuk train. Makes me wonder if Biceps and his coaches would have ruined him. Would he be in Carolina on an offer sheet now? Very possibly.
I can't recall being excited by the Galchenyuk pick or not. IIRC he was injured most of his draft year (maybe I'm thinking of somebody else). And I can't recall hoping for somebody else at that spot. But it is 10 years ago...
Mind you I was hoping for Anze Kopitar in the Crosby/Price draft in 2005. Some things are just more memorable I guess.
I get waiting until the season is over but common! (that's a bad internet "come on" joke)
The only question is will it be 3 years or 5?
And I wonder with the less than special teams of late, whether there are changes to the assistants or not. Or if they will chalk that up to personnel and see how it starts next season.
RDS tonight, no SFU or hogtown media to be found. Refreshing.
ReplyDeleteBiggest difference between Cole Caufield and matthews? Cole is likeable, matthews is not.

Should read 60 but 69 will do. Year of my birth and all...

DeleteI don’t totally agree.
DeleteYes on the Habs part.
Narcos has no personality and they spend millions helping to market him because he is a leaf.
Good points gents.
DeleteNo Shitfly tonight. Tragically took a hit last night that might put him out for the season.
ReplyDeleteHarris is gonna be good.
ReplyDeleteMaybe call him Zonk after Zonker Harris from Doonesbury. Not exactly a positive name mind ya considering the character. But Zonk is cool.
DeleteCan someone tell me what Gagnon is saying about Drouin?
ReplyDeleteI turn him off because he turns me off.

DeleteMonty with some nice saves tonight.

DeleteGreg Mullen is an idiot. "Gallagher asking for a penalty after going to the net." No he was asking to check to be sure the puck didn't cross the line.
ReplyDelete2-1 Jets.
ReplyDeleteMonty playing too deep in the net.

Delete5 forwards on the PP, MSL has big ones...
ReplyDeleteThat was fucking awesome.
DeleteHoff has a good shot, misses the net 50% of the time, otherwise useless.

So long as they are competitive.

Crap.
ReplyDeletePerfect crap dump in by Tank Commander Hoffman to seal the deal.
ReplyDeleteHalf way decent game.

Rest In Peace Gilbert Gottfried.

I should do an Aristocrats about leafools and the sfu as an honour.
