  1. Hope everyone is still having a great summer. I'll admit I've had one of my best. Barely worked, pleasantly distracted, getting back in shape as the ribs feel 99%. Back to work next Tuesday, still mostly hybrid. Looking forward to Habs camp and how the new players and lines work. GYFHG !

  2. A sizzling sexy September 1 thread!
Would've been my parents' 60th anniversary were they still with us.

Hockey is getting close...I can feel it.
But football is just one week away, I cannot wait! Had my fantasy draft last night. Thanks to selling my soul last year I had 7 picks in the top 25 of a 12 team league. Including first overall. Even then, my team looks really good but not super. Always fun anyway.

D1 who still lives at home with us got laid off today so that sucks. And she works for my brother's company so he didn't enjoy that call. Ah well such is life. Onward and upward.

Go Habs Go! Gotta be some news soon right? I expect a DaCH signing this weekend.

    Great new thread, thanks man!

The summer has flown by, probably because I have played so much golf, 36 rounds so far. However, I have had a setback, my right knee is so bad I can no longer walk any distance at all. I had to rent a power cart for the rest of the season. I am actually laid up at the moment because my knee caused me some back problems. Oh well, this to shall pass.

My oldest son got married two weekends ago. He and his wife have been together for 10 years and have three children, so it was a formality, still it was a nice ceremony at a non-religious venue and fun was had after, although some people paid the price the next day. Not this guy though, I don't get drunk anymore been almost 18 years since that happened!

We will indeed miss Carey, it's too bad that Montreal never gave him a team good enough to win. He played for a lot of shitty teams.

I too am looking forward to a new beginning, I will be interested to see how Monahan and Dach fit in and if some new D can make the team. Arber Xhekaj, can we call him 'Tree'?

    1. Hope the knee is better soon the M.
Playing my fourth or fifth round tomorrow. I am the opposite, playing the worst golf of my life. Had to buy new balls for the first time in a while. Hoping the Kirkland's can turn my game around 😅

ISWYDT with the tree nickname. Nocice. Or maybe Groot?
There was a pic of him with three other Habs and it looks like he has Hulk sizes hands! Maybe it was the photo angle, maybe not.

Thanks man, I use Kirklands once in a while (I find them all the time) they are a decent ball. I still prefer Pro-Vs.

I read that Tree and Slab are both around 235 lbs, the days of wee Davey and Oleg Petrov and a water bugs Habs team are over.

    4. Update on golf. Best round I've played in a few years. Missed breaking that 100 mark by a stroke. But my buddies and I play gentlemen's rules where we max out our score at 8 per hole. Today I didn't hit worse than a 7. Small steps. And it's because I drank more(I'm talking 8 beer) which isn't sustainable so I'll have to find my groove some other way. Beautiful weather today too.
Oh and I drafted your new Giants WR Wan'dale Robinson. He looks good, should be starting slot receiver.

If you shot 101 drinking 8 beers you did pretty good. I don't drink when I'm playing, only after.

I think Tyrod Taylor will be the Giants starting QB in short order. Good luck with the WR.

I'm not a monarchist but I am a historian and can appreciate her place in history. The Queen was the representative of the Greatest Generation and her service was exemplary. She indeed loved Canada and as an example of her devotion to duty, sent a message of condolences to the people of James Smith Cree Nation after the horrific events there literally the day before she passed.

Just imagine, when she came to the throne Winston Churchill was British prime minister, Louis St. Laurent was our prime minister and Dwight D. Eisenhower was sworn in as President. Incredible!

Nit without her blind spots, surely, but RIP to the sovereign who signed our country over to us in 1982.

God Save KC3 I suppose. I just hope the young monarch has had sufficient time to preparelol

"According to Google Maps, the roughly six-hour drive from Vojens, Denmark to Gothenburg, Sweden covers 573 kilometres. But within the hockey world, the gap between Vojens IK, a decent club in the Danish second tier, and Frölunda HC, one of the most storied teams in Europe, is far greater. It’s taken three years and the journey has hardly been smooth, but Frederik Dichow has traversed the flatlands of Jylland and the hills of Skåne to arrive at the sidewalks of Valhalla. Well now, it didn't take very long for the Quebec media and political bullies to jump on Nick Suzuki. I saw the headline for a link but refused to click on it. Reading some comments it appears Emperor Legault said Suzuki HAS to learn to converse in French. OK, so the kid already stated he has taken French in school and will work on the conversational aspect of the language. That's not good enough for some I guess. Gee, the bullies are eager to go after a 23 year old 5'-11", 200lb kid but for some reason never went after a 30 year old 6'-4", 235lb anglo from B.C. I wonder why?

Serious question, is there another jurisdiction in the World that mandates you have to learn the local dialect or leave?

Yes, I was going to say he is a racist, along with his xenophobic acolytes. Are you telling me that if a heart specialist moved to Quebec from the U.S. and didn't learn to speak French he would be sent back? That's ridiculous. I don't know why the Feds haven't stepped in and ruled that bullshit 'law' unconstitutional and blatantly illegal. Gutless?

Canada basically hangs us anglos out to dry. Not one of those fuckers would ever open their trap to defend us. The head racist has been slowly putting the screws to us and nobody in Canada does fuck all. This place is run by bigots who think they are doing the good thing for their people. My daughter escaped to Canada but my son is still here. I advise him to take a hard look at things. It's too late for Mrs CHester and I as we are old and smelly and pretty well set up here but a young person should give their head a shake. Too bad really I remember Montreal when it was in charge of Canada. Anyway I hate politics, and, I hate logos on our jersey. For what a couple of bucks? What's a couple of bucks to Jeff The Molson? I would have thought he would have laughed and told the RBC to fuck off.

However, with no #1 or #2 defenceman and only #3-8 types in the lineup along with B type goalies, we should temper our expectations. If they can pull off a playoff appearance that's fine, but another bottom 10 finish won't bother me at all.
