According to hahahrudy, the leaf will be 20 games over .500 in January. I'm going to write that down and check back then. The SFU always trying to push the narrative that matthews is in the same orbit as McDavid. Just looking at the highlights from the Oilers last game against Luke Richardson's 'Hawks, that's a big fat no. Not even close. I also see ex-leaf superstar goalie Jack Soupy Campbell has lost his starting job to somebody named Stuart Skinner. Oh how the mighty have fallen. Where's Matt Murray these days anyway?
I'm happy to see Coach Marty has decided to sit the useless Drouin and new assistant Tank Commander Dad. I'm sorry to see REM have to sit but he's not the same player as last year for whatever reason. Glad to the Pez get his turn, he will be a buzzsaw out there tonight. As for G.I. Finn, let's hope the version that won the gold medal for Finland last spring in the men's WCs shows up.
That's all I got. Got a wicked head cold going on at the moment (not Covid, tested 3 days in a row all negative), I might have to crash early.
A bittersweet victory, we do not look like a lottery team at all. Great game, Devo the quietest hattie in history. Sign Whiskey by the barrel today. St Lou announcer's called Jake the Snake. Leaf in their putrid Blebs. They look like a lottery team. Gabe Vilarie for the Kings a pure wool we should have had, what where you thinking Bergy.
Some trade rumours to ponder on a lazy Sunday morning, between recovering from a bad head cold and waiting for the NFL games to start. The pHilthy pHuckers have had a good start under Torts but have lost two vets to injury, JVR and Coutourier long term. Kent Hughes, rubbing his hands together gleefully, saying to Chuck Fletcher: "Hey bud, I've got a log jam at forward here maybe we can swing a deal. I've got a good defensive minded center, good on faceoffs and is capable of putting up some points on a cap friendly contract. I've also got some spare wingers take your pick of Hoffman/Drouin/Pitlick/Armia. I'll take a 1st round pick, if not this year how about 2024? I like DVo but something has to give, and I don't think he would object to a move to Philly, he is an American.
As much as I like winning, I kind of agree with Steve, we need to get in to lottery territory in 2023. We will see how things go by the time the Habs get to December, there is usually a mid-season swoon, the young D, who still make a lot of mistakes, will get lit up eventually by the better teams. I'm enjoying the moment but the big picture is important for the Montreal Canadiens. Gotta get in that bottom 8 at least.
Agree Problem is that our younglings don't quit. On paper we should be loosing but hockey is not decided by paper it's decided by heart and soul and that we have plenty of. I can't see us ending up in a lottery spot so Hugo will have to pull some trades for picks. However in the meantime I'm loving the hockey. Especially when Druid sits in the stands. Oh just read an article about how the leaf are a cup contender with spectacular depth at all positions. Ya they sure look good on paper.. Go Habs
Woo! Had a long day yesterday. Mrs Pad's Halloween/retirement party started at 3pm and ended at 2am. That's a long time to consume a variety of beverages shall we say...
Recorded the 2h version of the game and watched this morning. 2 by Whiskey, a Nature, a Slaf, and a Devo hattie. Quite a ride.
I agree with the concern of being a middling team but you take out the Bruins at the top and the BJs at the bottom, there are only 3 points between the rest of the teams in the east. I too think when teams settle in a bit more we'll see that the kids are at least a bottom third team and probably a bottom 8. Or wtf do i know...maybe they're a playoff team and will contend. Unlike all the adu douchebags I don't pretend to actually know anything about the future.
Been AWOL since midweek - No. 1 son went and got himself hitched so we've had a lot of people around since Wednesday. I said before the season started that the Habs were good for 89 odd points this season which translates to loosely 10 a month, so glad to see I was not a mile out.
Good news for fans of the pitiful leaf, they are the most valuable hockey team in the world. As long as those sheep keep buying those hats and jerseys at least they have that...
BTW, I never mentioned on the last thread, I get the 'Norwood wide right" reference in that first pic. Nice!
ReplyDeleteGo Habs! I hope Jake Allen can 'haunt' his former team.

Might as well decline those penalties.
ReplyDeleteI think Torts should give Marty a call ... enough with those 5 forward PPs, it ain't workin.
Can we have one of those PP's? Pretty please?
ReplyDeleteWhiskey double!
ReplyDeleteNothing going right for Hoff
ReplyDeleteLast Slaf has scored in consecutive games.
ReplyDeleteDaCH!
ReplyDeleteDevo!
ReplyDeleteWhat a game! Feels like a SCF preview.
ReplyDeleteDevo hattie!
ReplyDeleteWhat a character building team win. Fire wagon hockey. The PP connected twice. They played so big tonight.
ReplyDeleteAnd the Kings beat the Leafs, hah! Suck it, Leafs! AND this after the Als beat the Argos for a perfect Saturday. GYFHG!!
And Pomme with an assist even outscored Underpants! I am loving it.

Pleasantly distracted and even more so now !
ReplyDeleteCashed in early last night and finished watching the game this morning.
ReplyDeleteSo much angst in hogtown these days. I love it!
The panel last night (except Bieksa) were nearly in tears with their solemn analysis.

ReplyDeleteHa... 89 points... Meant to say 80 odd points... I'd be happy with 89 but don't think so...
Delete10 games into the season and consterNation in the constipated state of the leaf and it's fucked up fawning media. Love it !
ReplyDeletePoor l'il mitchie marner got his feelings hurt again last night getting called out by Sheldon. Too funny!
DeleteIt's like they believe all the shit that the SFU say.
ReplyDeleteThey are so full of themselves.
Let the finger pointing begin!
Go Habs
