I use to converse (email) with 2 leaf mediots, when they weren't yet salivating like the SFU. Traikos at NP and McGran (the Star), the latter has jumped the shark, the former was told to FOAD. The reason I mention this is that with the NBA changing trophy names, some are now suggesting the same for the NHL (yeah, I know, we've been saying this for many years). Anyways, McGran suggests renaming the Conn Smythe to Dave Keon, because, wait for it, he won the Cup in 1967, Fuck that shit and not only rename it the Beliveau but scrap the ugly trophy too. Fuckers.
Funny you mention this. I've been following some of the NFL stuff this weekend as they announce each team's candidates for what I think is the most important trophy for that league (other than the Lombardi) - the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. I admittedly don't know the history of NHL's equivalent King Clancy award other than he was a leaf from long ago. But knowing what a great human he was, The Jean Beliveau Man of the Year Award sure has a perfect ring to it.
Poor Matty Ice. On the losing end of the biggest Superbowl blown lead (to the Pats) and now on the losing end of the biggest comeback in NFL history. Up 33-0 at the half and lose 39-36 in OT! How the F does that happen?
Matt Ryan. QB with that Falcons team and today with the Colts. Helluva game actually. Even though I lost my RB1 on the first play of the game, in this the first week of the fantasy playoffs.
You may have noticed that I haven't commented about the scum at sportsnet in a while. I removed them from my cable package as a birthday gift to my on Nov. 22nd. Fucking scum SFU.
FWIW, I mute it but tva had MT on for over 11 minutes. tva is pathetic, not a single decent person on that channel. Also, they pick Québecois corn out of their own séparatiste shit.
Re: your comment about shitnet, they don't have one worthy crew to call games. Their week night panels are shit as well. How many more years of this shit do we have to endure?
The tsn Habs crew are decent, they use a bunch of different colour guys, none are too critical of the Habs and there is no leaf blowing.
Here's how braindead tva is, they are calling this game a $2.8M goalie vs. a $9.5M goalie, somehow justifying the score. Not sure I can hang in. Might watch a movie.
nice review of the Wifi fight and Wifi merch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3bTXkaT5As Druiid is the tank commander of the month in only two game. Well at least the leaf got dummied by the caps.
There is a great read about drafting and development on a Twitter thread by @stock_guy1. Worth the time and has changed my attitude a bit. I believe the Habs have the right management team in place to possibly build a championship team. Look at what Stevie Y did in Tampa and what he is doing in Detroit. Jeff Gorton helped build a contender in Boston that has lasted a decade or more. His Rangers team are getting better all the time. I know we want instant results but the reality is the Habs are a couple years out from really competing. I think the foundation, minus some of the deadwood is there. A high pick this year and next will set the table.
Y'all know I'm a Pat's fan. Well I just watched them make what may be the dumbest play in NFL history to lose the game with no time left. Probably ended their playoff chances to boot.
Not sure if you football fans remember Jonas Gray (probably not), but I expect Jakobi Meyers will be introduced to him. I think he may reside at the bottom of Boston Harbour.
Saw the replay, wow, that was a major fuck-up why not take the tie?
Meanwhile, my Giants look good so far tonight, especially after the beating they took last Sunday. Kayvon Thibedeaux having a heck of a game. I'm calling it a night, I'll pick this up in the morning. No spoilers!

DeleteGreat idea. If they can give Messier a 'leadership' trophy anything should be a go.
DeleteAlso, why Jim Gregory for GM of the year? What has he ever accomplished as a GM?
Forgot about the Clancy trophy.
DeletePowerHorse moves to the top line.
ReplyDeleteDoc only has one winger, Slaf (Mr. Useless)
Dvo is wingless (Hoff and No Finnish)
7Evans get REM and the Pez.
Tweed and MnM
WiFi and Kovy3.0
Ghoul and Munster
Jake in net, he's gonna see a ton of rubber tonight. Yikes.

ReplyDeleteI forgot there were games today. Who is Matty Ice?
DeleteMatt Ryan. QB with that Falcons team and today with the Colts. Helluva game actually. Even though I lost my RB1 on the first play of the game, in this the first week of the fantasy playoffs.
DeleteOk, thanks!
DeleteFuck I hate this hnic crew with a passion.
ReplyDeleteleaf bias or Habs hate ?
DeleteYep
DeleteI can't listen gary fucking gawley tonight, so the TV is on mute and I've got the Sea Dogs game on my laptop.
ReplyDeleteHaven't heard his voice in over 2 years.

ReplyDeleteHabs playing well versus their Stanley Cup Final opponent of just a while ago.
ReplyDeleteThe Sherriff put a whoopin' on the Maroon. Tough kid.
ReplyDelete... with ease. Why are clean hits worthy of stupid retribution ?
DeleteCan they call to measure Vasilevsky's gear?
ReplyDeleteMy pleasant distraction is down with the flu. Might explain my more than normal activity.
ReplyDeletePowerHorse loses a lot of power on the backchecking.

Vaselinesky looks fatter than Marty Brodeur used to.
ReplyDeleteGood period, minus the D miscues.

ReplyDelete... and saddled with complete fucking dolts like latendresse and lapierre.
DeleteBossy (RIP) gave them the only cred they ever had.
DeleteWell said SiM.
DeleteHey, the Bills are playing. L8R FHFers.
ReplyDeleteYep left that shitshow of a hockey game long ago. I expected to see more snow in Buffalo.
DeleteIf that isn't proof the fucking donkey refs are Hab-haters I don't know what is. That's a penalty?
ReplyDeleteOh well, Tampa had endure a rebuild, hopefully we get something like that down the road.
Yeah, I'm heading over to the Bills/Fish game too. Fuck this shit.
ReplyDeleteHey just flipped over to see Nature pot one! No shut out at least
ReplyDeleteSpooky!
ReplyDeleteJFW... Or score at least...
ReplyDeleteWay to go Nature Boy!
DeleteToo funny, if the Bills fans don't stop throwing snow balls on the field, the Bills will get a 15 yard penalty.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the Habs have a Vikings style comeback in them tonight.

ReplyDeleteGYFHG! and JKHFFB!!
Agree 100%.
DeleteNot sure if there are any soccer fans here, but holy hell what a great final!
ReplyDeleteSucks it comes down to a shootout to determine a winner of the biggest sporting event in the world though.
I had no dog in this hunt, but Argies winning makes me happy. Maldives
DeleteAnthony Richard called up. Since he wears #90 and that's 10 times his namesake's retired number, I shall dub him Factor10.

What. A. Game.
ReplyDeleteThe NY Giants have a good shot at a wild card playoff spot. Saquon Barkley was a beast as was the young tackle Thibodeaux.
