I spun this morning and got #2 again. I feel the Habs are going to get either #1 or 2, the reason being the hockey gods owe Habs fans some good karma after these last two seasons of injury hell.

Lets loose in a good way. KidKo, was subject to CHild abuse. Lets not make the same mistake with SLAF, let him play in the AHL a couple of years, did not hurt Alex Bezelle

Slaf needs to go back to Europe for at least 2 years, maybe more. He's not good enough for the AHL right now.

Oh yeah, he is injured but I think they are intentionally holding him out because they know he is in way over his head. Some 18 year olds can play in the league but he can't. I still believe Wright was the pick but Bobrov tricked Hugo into taking the moar bigger guy.

I'm impressed with the Pez lately, he gives an honest effort every single night and he does not turn the puck over near as often as Droumez and the Hoff. I'm not sure what Hoffman is thinking sometimes, I only watched from the 3rd period on and he gave the puck away constantly. The Habs will have to endure one more season of that unless they Alzner him. No other team would want him, thanks bergy.

I know the truth, can you handle outside the top three picks its all slafs. Panthers are out of the threshold. DRUMEZ willl be signed for two years at 2 Mill. We pick at 7 or 8 and get nothing. Our 13 round pick from the Panthers gives us a bag of pucks. We get crushed by the Sens for the next five years. We all become Ziggy Stardust. Push that panic button now, and wait for nothing to happen.

All this noise about Druid being this hot guy is just noise
He only seems to show up when all is lost
When we need him he’s never there
Loosing Sergachev sadly reminds me of another stud D also with the bolts
Seems we make the same mistake over and over
It’s time to cut ties with him and lick our wounds
    Go Habs

Regarding all the injuries, at this point I believe management has thrown in the towel and are full on embracing the Tank. Dvo and Harris are hurt but if Montreal was in the playoff hunt they would play and I think others would too. They don't need any extra points with the likes of Az closing in and they could drop another spot to 5th from the bottom. But, all that being said watch them fuck up another high pick.

CHester is correct, with nothing on the line anymore Droumez accumulating points trying to get another NHL contract. Sorry, doubtful that happens, it's the Swiss league for him. Maybe. George Laraque mentioned on the Sick Podcast Tuesday night that JD got rocked in the playoffs with Tampa and has never been the same. It made him timid to go to the hard areas and he became a perimeter player. Fair enough but Montreal's pro scouts should have known that and directed bargainbin away from that fantasy of the Quebecois hero. Sergachev was traded for damaged goods.

Also, CHester is thinking of McDonagh I think but he is no longer in Tampa, JBB had to unload his contract to Nashville to get under the cap, when he could no longer play the LTIR card. And to think, Gainey threw in RMcD to get the Mexican't from the Rangers. Glen Sather was ecstatic I'm sure!

    1. CHester2:49 PM

Every time I heard McDonaghs name I would get angry.
Just to toss him in on that deal for the Mexican't makes it one of the smelliest on record.
It's one of many bad Dmen trades, Chelios for Savard, Langway for nothing, throw away McDonagh and now Sergachev.
Chelios went on to play 40 more years while Savard just dried up and went nowhere.
I am super excited that HUGO is aware of the need for a solid D and I like all our younglings coming up with more in the pipeline. We don't hear much about Norlinder anymore but then there are others coming up such as Hutson, that Logan fellow and Struble. I can't wait for the draft to see what we have to follow behind Roy, Mesar, Kidney, Farrell and Owen.
I think we just need to keep our eyes open for a goalie.
      Go Habs

Let's get this injury riddled season over with and look to June. I don't prognosticate but I have a feeling HuGo are going to try to follow the Ranger script for the Habs rebuild. That author now works for Geoff Molson so why not?

Here's how I see next year's team and as the great Red Fisher used to pen: "Let us pray..."

    2023-24 Habs (healthy) team
    PLD Nature Whisky
    MonaHab Dach Powerhorse
    Army Dvo Farrell
    Pez 7Evans RHP

    NotSerge M'n'M
    Iron Tweed
    Eddy AX
    Red

    Full Monty
    The Snake

All this goes out the window if the Habs win the lottery and get Bedard

Winnipeg does not want a year of PLD drama and they work out a deal with HuGo. He will be
    the Zebanajad move.
Powerhorse has 3 good years left in him, he goes nowhere.
Eddy might get moved, if so Red moves up, somebody else will be #7.
    Slaf goes back to Europe.

This is all just random speculation on my part.

I haven't followed Quebec politics in years so I don't even know who is or isn't a separatist any more. What I have surmised is since Quebec politicians do not want to give up all that Alberta cash they receive in equalization payments, they are slowly pushing anglophones and other non-francophone people out by inventing laws to discriminate against them and make them leave. As for the Alouettes, good on them for finding an owner to keep them in the City of Montreal. Unless pkp decides to move them to Quebec City.

Its tank critical time, we have a good shot at 5. The experts all say after 3 its a crapshoot till 6. If we can hit five we can get a franchise player potential. No matter what it all comes down to signing players like Tampa and Boston. Take a haircut to win the cup.

  28. I'm finding it difficult to stay engaged with Habs news. I'm tired of all the speculating and the negativity from fans (and some media) because the Habs are.getting points. No team will lose every one of its last 20 on purpose. These men have pride. They are not going to fail on purpose in hopes of a teenaged saviour. And many of them are playing to stay in the league or for new contracts, whether with the Habs or elsewhere.

So I'm watching curling and golf. I'm better than the Leafs, I've skipped my curling team to the 2nd round of the playoffs. Me and 2 buddies had our first golf lesson on Thursday...after 30 years, changing my grip and stance is challenging. A couple more sessions to go, interested to see how it goes.

I'll tune in on occasion to see if the Habs are keeping it interesting and keep an eye on the young guys that have managed to escape injury or have returned.

Don't forget to spring ahead tonight!

    JKHFFB!

@Saint Paddy .... congrats on taking some golf lessons. Speaking from experience, I can assure you it will be challenging when you start applying those new techniques on the course. I remember the first time I played following my training, I wanted to go back to the guy and demand my money back! However, I stuck with it and in the end it will pay off. You will remember various things as you play and it will (eventually) come together. The one thing I have to tell myself every year at the start of the season --- Stop swinging so hard!!! The club will do the work, just let it.

Regarding the Habs, I still check various sites and just ignore all the negativity. Of course these guys want to win! Look at all the bottom feeders, they are all picking up points as well. Positioning is somewhat irrelevant anyway, it all comes down to those lottery balls. I still believe the Gorton luck will come through and the Habs will get at least a top 5 pick, I'm betting on #2 myself.

When you look at the lineup it is remarkable they are hanging tough with these better teams with literally 3 legit NHL forwards, Nature, Powerhorse and (I'm being generous here) the Hoff. The rest are AHLers, waiver wire pickups and washed up has-beens. The defence has been outstanding and goaltending more than adequate. Marty St. Louis has performed a minor miracle keeping this bunch competitive and should be considered for Coach of the Year.

we have a great great coaCH, and that is so important. If we can keep all our talent, even though we do not have a generational player, we can win many cup.s/. If they had the team two years from now in front of them Snake and Fully Monty coudl do the job. Today , no one goalie is going to win the cup.

    1. The franchise isn't smart enough to to this. Past two years now they could have picked up difference making defencemen if they would be willing to give up one of their perceived 'big 4'...specifically Willy. They couldn't trade Pyjama's contract, they wouldn't trade Narcos and they shouldn't trade Marner (I'd take him on my team any day). So Willy it is (or should've been).

    2. the Maritimer7:59 PM

I feel like Narcos is indifferent to Toronto and Canada as a whole. Just the vibe I get. Pretty sure that's why he only signed for 5 years, he's gone as soon as that's up.
