Wow Looking at the talent in that picture of the younglings gives hope for the future. We also have Beck, Roy, Kidney, Struble, Hutson, Heinman etc as well as what will transpire at the draft next month. The cupboard is full of prospects. I can live with another tankathon next year as we set up the franchise for the future. Perhaps a PLD might add an interesting angle to us. Just thinkin. Go Habs
I see a trade for CPT PICARD. We dump some trash and a second, he signs for 8 at 8. At that point the rebuild is over and cup contention is starting. Some people dont love Yodel, have they ever had a sore throat and Ricola. Yodel is Rocola for us. Just tank, send Snake and Monty to Acpoluco to fight the gangs, rest Nature back in BC. Tell Math to work on his PHD at McGill.
fire the coach if they win another game, you can always get another coach but a 5 th overall franchise player is once in a lifetime. Fortuanaly once again the PHuctards bailed us out.
I've been AWOL. Headed to Fredericton for St Paddy's Day to visit my brothers and had a couple of good days. Not too wild - we're too old now. Got back Sunday night didn't feel well and Monday morning, after three years of evading it I tested + for Covid. I felt bad because Tuesday morning my Sis-in-Law and niece were heading to Cuba but I had to tell them. THey freaked out but were OK. Was down and out until last night. Felt like I was hit by a truck. This morning, just the remnants of a sore throat. Mrs Pad is still suffering through it. She has COPD so hoping it stays out of her lungs.
Anyway, I survived round 1 unlike a certain hockey team.
Sounds like my experience back in April 2020 (pre-vax and Covid Classic). Hope you don't have post-recovery issues. Best wishes to the missus for a wuick and full recovery too.
I was very sick back in January with my bout, I dodged it for nearly 3 years as well. It felt like nothing I ever had before. The only other memory I have have of being very, very sick was when I got the mumps at around 11 years old. That was brutal. I slept for 3 days straight.
Looking at the sked I see the Habs finishing the season with a 5-6 record and 72 points. Flyers 5-7 and 74 points. Arizona 4-6 for 74 points. The bottom 4 are clear. I think Habs finish 5th last.
Always loved this bit of history. How come the SFU never mentions it?
THIS DATE IN #HABS HISTORY March 23, 1944: Maurice Richard scored all five goals in a 5-1 win over Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 2 of Stanley Cup semifinal playoff series. Toe Blake had five assists. Richard was awarded all three stars after game.
Gonna say something else controversial here...the NHL needs to stop with the Pride events unless they can get 100% participation. They continue to allow own goals by having various players opt out for whatever the reason they give. Does more harm than good and it's too important to keep fucking up.
Pretty sure Guhle has braces on both knees so I agree I think it's a big worry. He has so much talent ...hope he's going to park it for the season. Start over next year.
Well, at least the putrid leaf are doing us a favour tonight beating the Cats, the phucktards won and Ottawa is kicking the snot out of the despicable lightning Dolts. Habs hold on to that 5 spot.
Dirty play. Freak accident that he jammed his ankle. Wish we had Sergachev doing that to the Kreiders of the world for our team. Bergy made some decent moves, but this trade negates any good he did in my mind.
Harvard getting crushed by Ohio State, looks like Sean Farrell will be on his way to Montreal or Laval shortly. Meanwhile, the folks at ESPN put up a little chart showing the NHL draft picks in this game and they had OSU goalie Jakub Dobes as a wretched leaf prospect and Kyle Dumbass was there scouting him. Hilarious! When did Kent Hughes make this trade and who did he get in return?
Goalies are nothing now. You pick a big guy who has trig authrority and hope for the best. Interesting all the best goalies are Russians. A grade 8 math course in Russia would not be passed by anyone in North America without a Doctorate. Sean Farrel. I do not want to go down the MASH rabbit hole with his nick, but what about Hawkeye. Ranger danger, smurfs on the rise. We have a lot of top prospects who are smurfs. As a top NHL anylist I have run the numbers. No more than two players making more than 9 mil and no more than 3 smurfs to win the cup I gotta say, and this may not be a unique opion, DACH VADER is real.
Its obvious now and it will become more obvious in the future and in the future future it will be carved in STONE, the trade for DACH VADER was elemental.
Hoffman should be happy that the guy who crossed checked him in the face got one game. In real life in the Gta you can be stabbed and shot and the punishment is less.
Stu Cowan found out Serge Savard had a few stories:
"When Bergevin was GM, Savard had asked if his son and grandchildren could take a tour of the empty Canadiens’ locker room at the Bell Centre 45 minutes after a game had finished and the players had left. Bergevin told him no. “How would you feel if you were the guy who helped hired him?” Savard said. “It didn’t make any sense. I felt very small. It didn’t feel like home.” “I think the whole management now, they realize the damage that has been done and all the old-timers have been pretty vocal about it,” Savard said. “Even Guy Lafleur, who was working for the Montreal Canadiens, was not afraid to say it publicly."
Fuck you Bargain Bergy, for making a giant like Serge feel small.
Link: Cowan: Serge Savard happy to feel like part of Canadiens' family again.
Ha Ha! Ordinary Joe says "fuck the leaf!" Love it!
Bargain bin bergy was a pretty insecure dude. Glad the alumni are back.
I'm going to watch the game tonight, figure the Habs have a good shot to beat the BJs, they played last night. GYFHG! And it's OK to win, the phucktards already won today.
Although Bedard is the ultimate prize in the upcoming draft, I would be more than happy to get Fantilli. If not one of them, take the Russian kid. We got time to wait.
I hate Garry Gawley with a passion. But he actually said something that made sense in that when Tie Domi cross checked him in the face in the nineties he got 2 games. And those were the wild west days! 1 game for that Bruin is such a farce.
You know if RHP played every game and maintained his current ppg average, he would be 2nd in rookie scoring.
If Guhle stayed healthy and maintained his average, he would be top rookie scoring damn.
RHP has been a great surprise and I think has a future on the team.
I am very curious to know what the opening night lineup is going to look like in October. I think the team will be young but ready to compete for a playoff spot if they can stay out of the damned hospital.
It's a small sample size. relatively speaking, regarding RHP. But, he reminds me of his coach, an under-sized forward with a great compete level and a nose for the net with a great set of hands. I don't know how things will shake out this October, but RHP can certainly have #27's spot, without question. I even thought Gallagher looked the best he's been in some time. There is certainly still a spot for him on the team. I wouldn't be anointing any of the soon to be available older juniors like Roy, Kidney, Farrell, etc. a place in the NHL line-up. They can all do some time in the minors.
Much as I admired him in roles like Bond and The Name of the Rose, his unapologetic wife-beating leaves too bad an aftertaste. But we'll find a good nick for this Farrell fellow. Great signing!
There was time not so long ago that )007 was part of, and its not a good look. However, if we start canceling everyone how has a lens on them 24 7 , we are going to be watching porragige soon.
IMPAIRED DRIVING . That is what we are witnessing here with a franchise draft pick in the mix. Gotto from TSN 690 who does hot takes says neither PRP or Yodel are NHL players, Well MR many last names is, and YODEL he is the real steal, still a kid cant even make a decenct yodel.
Do you want to be a Montreal Canadian or just a player for a franchise that may not exist in 50 years. We know there will always be some form of the NHL. Maybe back to six teams but dammit, we will still play hockey, okay maybe in 50 years its a co ed team, no hitting no slapshots, but it will still be a dammed hockey team.
SO TANK NOW DONT GIVE ME SPECULATION ABOUT GROWTH OF UTES. UTES are totally unreliale and mostly young.
Farrell will graduate this spring from Harvard, he made up courses during Covid and taking summer classes. I don't know what he majored in but I doubt he would be getting $1.1mil in salary starting out with some corporation...
I'm looking forward to seeing him play after he's had a few practices of course.
I honestly can't think of any other young goalies that would be worth pursuing. Maybe Demko out in Van City? The Habs will probably just run with Monty and Allen for another year anyway.
57 differant varietes of smurf, put that on you cup icing. This kid could surprise us in the regulare season but he better be full metal in the playoffs.

Bravo! Raquel is still hot!!
ReplyDeleteGood to see KidG and Dach back, the team looks a little less AHLish.

ReplyDeleteDaCHtah rather!

ReplyDeleteMaths!
ReplyDeleteNice effort. The tank be damned!
ReplyDeleteGreat game by the Habs.
ReplyDeleteMy previous post disappeared?
ReplyDeleteI saw the replay of Powerhorse getting injured, what a farce by the donkey refs. Should have been a penalty on 98 and an automatic goal for Josh.

Great updates ! GYFHG !
ReplyDeleteI am not going to go with negative waves, but if we ever half to lose to the Broons let it be tonite/
ReplyDeleteMunster tank commanding a little too obviously on that 2nd Boston goal.
ReplyDeleteGotta say one thing here...the Habs looking fuckin sof on the pick tonight. Slightest bit of pressure and they turn it over...very poor.
ReplyDeleteMunster made a bad play on the 2-0 goal. Meh.
ReplyDeleteGood to see some hate creeping into the game. And Boston tackles Evans and get a PP from it. Cool cool cool...
Nature Boy! Wooo!

ReplyDeleteDaCHtah! Great patience by Nature and Maths to set it up.
ReplyDeleteDach!
ReplyDeleteThe DaCHtor is in!
ReplyDeleteYou know who I'm really impressed with? Justin Barron. It's great to see the steady improvement.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand I'm worried about the durability of Guhle. So many injuries this year and out with the dreaded high ankle sprain is worrisome.
Pretty sure Guhle has braces on both knees so I agree I think it's a big worry. He has so much talent ...hope he's going to park it for the season. Start over next year.

ReplyDeleteDespite the standings, a Saturday night when the Habs win a and Leafs lose (TBD, down 1 w 4 to go) is a good night. Go Canes.
ReplyDeleteA Good night is confirmed.
DeletePanthers lost, Leafs & Sens both lost. Great night for the CH future all around.
ReplyDeleteHabs win leaf lose, always music to my ears. Turds lose. Cats lose. It's all good.

ReplyDeleteIn honour of the late Sean Connery let's call him 007.
Much as I admired him in roles like Bond and The Name of the Rose, his unapologetic wife-beating leaves too bad an aftertaste. But we'll find a good nick for this Farrell fellow. Great signing!
DeleteI was unaware of any domestic violence by Connery.
DeleteYa he was a class A prick to his first wife. Beat her and bullied her.
DeleteSadly he was the best Bond tho.
Go Habs

Good on Farrell! Nice little gig to get right out of college.
ReplyDeleteCould call him Ivy being from Harvard.
Or Honeycutt after Mike Farrell's MASH character.
Or wait and see what he brings to the table.
Farrell will graduate this spring from Harvard, he made up courses during Covid and taking summer classes. I don't know what he majored in but I doubt he would be getting $1.1mil in salary starting out with some corporation...
DeleteI'm looking forward to seeing him play after he's had a few practices of course.
Did the ol' Tankathon spin this morning .... got Bedard and Sandin-Pellika first time. Sweet!
ReplyDeleteFrom the rumour mill .... hard pass on Max Comtois, aka Drouin redux.
ReplyDeleteI fully expect Kent Hughes has another 'Dach-like' move up his sleeve for the upcoming draft with Florida's 1st round pick in play.
Maybe a goalie ?
DeleteI hope KH has his eye on Carter Hart.
DeleteWeirdly not sold on Carter Hart. Habs also need to address goalie coaching, maybe have TFS do it until they sell his contract.
DeleteI honestly can't think of any other young goalies that would be worth pursuing. Maybe Demko out in Van City? The Habs will probably just run with Monty and Allen for another year anyway.
DeleteMontreal area prospect Devon Levi from BUF and don't the Flames have a couple of great Russian G prospects ?
DeleteFarrell taking #57, so I guess that settles it.
ReplyDeleteHEINZ!
Good one!
DeleteLove it. Welcome Heinz! ...Once a 4HF Hab with nick, always a 4HF Hab...
Delete57 differant varietes of smurf, put that on you cup icing. This kid could surprise us in the regulare season but he better be full metal in the playoffs.
DeleteSabres and Phucking Phlyers back2back ... starting tonight ...
ReplyDeleteThe Fried-man has Jean Luc Picard to Montreal at 95%. I can't speculate what KH would give up to get PLD a year early but it wouldn't have to be much. He's holding a full house with Aces high methinks. Gonna be an interesting off season.
ReplyDeleteIn HuGo we trust.

DeleteHow about feck?

DeleteThose anthems were brutal. The choir might've been good but that one guy too close to the mike was flatter than Olive Oyl.
ReplyDeleteTweed!
ReplyDeleteTweed!
ReplyDeleteDrouin with another helper. That's his thing. I'm on him a lot for playing soft, but he's also got the soft hands to make those slick passes.
ReplyDeleteBiggest perimeter player ever, good riddance.
DeleteBelz!
ReplyDeleteBelts! Cuz he belts it?
DeleteLep!
ReplyDeleteRHP is a nice story and he deserves an NHL job but he can't be on the 1st line. Next year Slick Nick should have PLD and CC as his wingers.
ReplyDeleteIsn't the reason to get PLD (whom I'm still not sold on) for C depth? Suzuki-Dach-PLD?
DeleteAnd I don't agree on giving assets for him. He wants to be a Hab? Wait for UFA status in 24.
PLD plays the wing as well, sounds like he is on his way might as well get him a year early. Hughes won't give up much for him.
Delete#200!

ReplyDeletePez!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
ReplyDeleteGYFHG!!!
AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! The Pez with the winner and the Tiger Williams broom ride!! Love it!!!
ReplyDeleteFecking awesome!

DeleteIsles just took a 3-1 lead late in the third - another nail in the Panthers' playoff coffin.
ReplyDeleteAnother fun finish.
