    1. Yes on the short-statured; we han highre Lep and CC already. Two is about all you should bet on. Add Hutson on the back end and that really maxes them out.

NOTE: in high school, Hughes's one sport was rugby, so possibly he holds the smaller, grittier types in higher regard than your garden variety GM would.

I'm not the biggest CC fan but pairing him with Suzuki for almost a decade is going to be fun to watch. His size (or lack thereof) is going keep him from being as great as he could be.

  4. Vegas is a city built in an inhospitable desert. It logically should not exist. Add an ice hockey team. If they win the Cup it might throw all of reality out of balance and usher in the end times. Plus they're so goddamn chintzy.

  5. Nice one moe.

I give no effs about the outcome of the final, but from what I'm reading it sounds like Gary has the VGK names already engraved on the cup. Saw the vid of Tkachuk leveling Eichel who basically fell/dove into Tkachuk and Matt was given 10. and another 10 for slapping one of them rubber rats across the ice. Yeah, seems like some stuff is happening. So...though I don't really care, go FLA!

I'll bet the Golden Showers owner who was gifted a Stanley Cup contender out of the gate, has a nice, fat bonus cheque made out to Gary already. Eff'em all.

I see the House of Mouse (who own ESPN) are laying off some of the hockey analysts already due to low ratings for hockey. Aw what a shame. Eff them too.

CHester, I don't read any of the articles on the toronto sports network about hockey. They only have one thing on the brain. I will occasionally read about football or golf. sportsBet, I refuse to even look at their site.

If I want Habs news or analysis, I go to EOTP, Montreal Hockey Now, or read articles by Stu Cowan, Jack Todd in the Gazette or Brian Wilde at Global News. For sheer entertainment this site is #1. I can get a chuckle or vent to fellow Habs fans. I also check out a few Habscentric posters on Twitter. Bottom line, avoid the tranna shite, unless they are in turmoil about the latest leaf schadenfreude. That's some funny shit.

I keep wanting/thinking Josh Anderson should and can be doing more but back to back 32 point/69 game seasons isn't exactly the secondary scoring we need. I like his grit and his will but maybe if somebody is willing to take him for a decent pick or prospect that's the way to go.

We were talking about LIV/PGA this morning waiting to go to the first tee at Rockwood. One of the starters was telling us that the PGA basically had no choice but to accept money from the Saudi Public Trust Fund because they were nearly broke. The 2 Covid years with no and small crowds really hurt them and their TV deals are years old but they have to honour them. The players want bigger purses so they were backed into a corner. Sounds like they took the easy way out. Terrible.

Anybody know if Quebec's new language law might impact whether non Francophones might reconsider signing in Montreal? And does that make more sense in acquiring PLD?

I've only read a bit about how many services will only be offered in French unless one has a valid reason for not speaking French. Not sure what that would be..brain injury? What about not smart enough? Just curious about this issue...or if it is actually a potential issue at all? Are there English only private schools where players could send their kids? So many questions...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. steve6:38 PM

If you are making millions of dollars a year these questions disappear. In fact most parents should relish the chance for the kid to be bi lingual. Languae Woke is a good thing. I speak from personal experience. My kids at age 4 went to a german speaking Kindergarten, fortunately Kindgergarten is a english word.

      Delete
    2. There are plenty of private schools and the public english schools facilitate at least a year or two for people from elsewhere. The language laws are proving to be unenforcible and the issue is more of the Quebec penchant for nanny-statism. Mrs. Petry, Mrs. Price and other players' wives went through much stricter restrictions in the worst second and third waves of COVID here because Legault and his incompetent govt. had to go nuclear to keep the healthcare system from totally collapsing. I'm sure word got around between other teams' hockey wives. There are even exclusive "professional athlete" tax breaks available so the higher income tax worry is BS.

size matters, Colorado may be the most Smurf team in the last 20 years to win the cup. However look at the Golden Showers, only one player under 6 feet, six feet under and your dead to them.
We got room for Whiskey and the Hudson Kid, the rest, bette bulk up, get leg splints or play like Galleger. I say we trade our 31 st overall, and one small D man and Devo for PLD who agrees to 8 for slighly under 8. Make is so number one.

PLD will get slightly more than Nature and CC. According to KH, those two were coming off their entry level contracts. PLD is a 6 year vet looking for his big payday, I would guess 8 X $8.5 +/-

However, there is interest from Minnesota and the Rags? PLD not a slam dunk.

      Never saw Henderson win.

Henrik Stenson and Phil Mickleson's British Open duel in 2016 was incredible.

Taylor's win today was so dramatic because so much was at stake for the country. I figured even if Nick didn't win today it was inevitable one of the Canadians would win it soon, maybe even next year. That putt though, wow, what a finish to a big Canadian event.

Steve has to vent or explode, for sure its not pretty but its real
I am tired of the LGBT Q2 alphabet war. Canada legalized gay marriage 20 years ago, PET made sodomy legal. Why are we still talking about this stuff?
Now in the USA they want to cancel the noun bicycle. Is it because Queen sang about it 30 years ago? We now must refer to it and I may have chosen the wrong pronoun, as a TWSPV. Yes that is a two wheeled self propelled vehicle. Probably because the deep state wants bicycles to become vehicles so they can license and insurance them and shake more dimes out of the proletariat.

I hate the breakdown of civilization that is going on everywhere.
As you know the Romans defined civilization by the state of public toilets. Well know its seems for the most part, any place you can drop one is a public toilet. Is this an advance or a decline in civilization?

If you were PM how fast would Paul Berdardo go back in the hole? I know the legal arguments about the state can not pick on one serial killer, but JESUS CHRIST, Paul Berdardo getting his entitlements is just another sign we have completely lost our minds.

Putin called Zelensky a bad Jew. Thats Nuclear and not welcome, but could it be true. I cant say because of the NSA that NAZI are running around Ukraine with flags and symbols, but if you google before 2022, most of the MSM was talking about the NAZI in dat place. Zelensky's grandfather was a hero of the Soviet Union. Unfortunately for me it dissolved before I could achieve that honour. It begs the question, a billion dollar plus question, how could he betray those roots. Did he get some root canal that opened his eyes to the truth? The truth we all know but cant say, is he who has the gold makes the rules. City of London baby cant talk to much about it as a tourist.

Lets say one of the richest countries by resource people, hydro, rich soil gets into a civil war. Civil wars only end with total defeat of ones brother, or Nuclear war.

    Habs talk, yeah.
PLD, he signs an 8 for 8 and we give up two first round draft picks and DEVO. We do take Michkov and we assign Vodkov to be his mentor. FHF I believe I totally believe we will win that damm cup in 3 years if we get PLD.

More and more the world is making old people like me , say

I don't know if you guys spend any time on Twitter, apparently Whiskey is trying to recruit PLD to Montreal. CC must be working for hockey Ops on the side. Nine more days until the Draft, lots of intrigue about HuGo trying to move up. Should be fun!

    1. I would love nothing more than for PLD to come be a major success in Montreal for around 8x8. But I don't believe he has the intestinal fortitude to be that guy. So for me it's still a hard pass. But if HuGo takes the risk, then fingers crossed it's not another Drouin situation.

    2. I would lose about 40 balls playing on that golf course. Miss the fairway and good luck finding your ball, because oddly there aren't thousands of people watching or loads of course marshals around when I play.

    3. I don't see the need to acquire PLD unless you really don't think DaCH and Nature can handle things. He isn't injured much, so there's that. But I am anticipating Beck at 3rd C (maybe not for another year, takibg Devo's spot), with Sevans a sokid #4 C. And I'd sign MonaHab first too. Less $$, less Cap hit, less of a gamble.

I see PLD more as a winger playing with Nature and Whiskey. DaCH playing with Powerhorse and MonaHab. Throw the rest of them in a sack and see how they shake out. I don't even see Slowkovsky in the equation. Laval is a good spot for him.

My opinion of PLD is ... he will not be Beliveau nor will he be Drouin. Somewhere in the middle. Hopefully he can be a 30 goal 85-90 point guy. If he gets 8 years he would be 33 at the end.
Honestly, I just hope the Habs can stay reasonably healthy and compete for a wild card spot. That's all I'm asking for.

PLD is comming here for a bag of pucks. The biggest bag of pucks ever, its a world record, they have not seen so much rubber since allededly a gentelman Cheelioos left town. They said he was a enviormental distaster in the executive workplace. If I was the CEO at that time, he would have ended his carrer in the KHL. PLaying for spastic, where they allow motorized vehicles.
The question, its a big question. Remember TO made the Kwia Lonard trade and wone the NBA.
So Vegas has done the same thing. Is HUGO ready to roll the dice. Its comming up 144 for me both PLD and someone who can protect him from any defensive liabilties, Mr HELL IBUCK, there are many places in the world he could not play due to his name. He has now realized, there are not so many places north of some line, Is is Mason or is it Dixon or can I get a discount if I can pass a Dukes of Hazard Quiz.

Wed is the draft. Well tonite I am starting and I am going to work backwards through the Taken trilogy. The reason is its much less complicated than picking at 5th when its franchise player time. Louis Louis the guy who could not skate but had a great mind, just not for hockey. I could go on and on and maybe not stop until I met who? CC is the only real potential the Habs have drafted since TFS.
So take someone who will take 8 for 8. Thats the new equation in the draft, you gonna walk on me son at 25, well I am going to kick your ass now, and you will be rich and you will not thank me later.

Looks like the Habs have been played. Again.

Honestly, I was ambivalent about PLD. Sure, it would have been nice to get him but not at the sacrifice of players like DaCH or CC or the 5th pick. Also, people forget that the Kings have a lot of Quebec born influencers who live in LA, Luc Robitaille, Marcel Dionne and now our old friend bargainbinbergy. Plus, his agent Pat Brisson also lives there. We should have seen it coming.

Two more sleeps and then the fun begins. I normally don't drink through the week but I'll make an exception this Wednesday.
