  3. Way to go moe! Before I noticed the names, the only one I could pick out was the Rocket on the far right. No mistaking those eyes.

That B&W/ Colour photo from the Habs trip to the final is amazing and eye opening. It feels like an eternity ago now.

Might be time to grey out Armia too...

  4. It's my leaf fan brother's birthday. Do not gift him a win! He was about 19 months old when they last won the cup. That's good enough.

  5. I have decided that (at least to start anyway) I am not gonna lose my shit over a loss. I will still be hard on shit play but as long as the effort is there this season is all about building. They can learn from a loss...All that being said...don't lose to fucking leaf ecer...

I was reading an article earlier today that mentioned there are only 6 players left from the 2021 Cup run. Quite a turnover but the deconstruct and rebuild started almost immediately after when bargainbin was axed and DoHarm not long after. Hoping for a close match tonight.

  7. I am seriously verklempt to show up here after almost a year's absence and see the familiar "faces" of moe, the M, K3X, and Saint Pad. I love you people. And moe your dedication to keep this going earns an extra dose of verklempt-ness.

  10. Leftover thanksgiving turkey (still) and good bourbon (Angel's Envy). Not very glamourous for opening night!

For dessert I will eat THC-infused beef jerky, because our stupid fucking Quebec government is too paternalistic to think we are mature enough to handle gummies

@Young HF29, although I am mostly a single malt scotch snob, I have migrated over to trying some good bourbon whiskey. Two I can recommend: Basil Hayden and Elijah Craig. Angel's Envy has been one I want to try, thanks for the tip.

    1. I was a single malt scotch snob as well. Trust me, I still am! But I have broadened my palate to good bourbons. They are very different as I am sure you know, but just as enjoyable

Love both Basil and Elijah. Elijah is my go to day to day, at that price point (around $45 in the 514) it can't be beat. Angel's Envy is higher priced, around $75-80 here, but it is magnificent. And seriously $75 is cheap compared to what my preferred "base" single malts (Cragganmore, Auchentashan 3 wood) cost these days.

Good first period, the Habs looked prepared and ready, unlike many games last year when they gave up a goal in the first 30 seconds. Managed to keep pace with the best team in the history of the universe too.

And we lost. It was 1 point.per end for seven ends. Sadly they had last shot to the four foot for the win. Trust me it's riveting! Of course, losers get a free drink, so there is no real losing.

Think I'll check out the first period in delay. Not sure if.ill catch up for commenting or not.

  59. I considered reading some articles from the leaf perspective but I saw the heading "Matthews an animal on the ice" and opted to pass.

Hopefully they learn from this and don't panic in trying to close out games in the future. My big winner on the night was Slafkovsky. The hustle and beautiful pass to Newhook was awesome, he was back-checking, winning some battles and only got knocked down a couple of times. A few times he held the puck and did some good things with it. There is definitely growth there and hopefully MSL brings out a lot more in him as the year wears on. I thought he should have started in Laval, but if he keeps improving, I'll fully admit I was wrong.

    1. Army needs to score a ton of goals in Laval to get his confidence and mojo back. Then, if an injury warrants a call up, he might be able to contribute. For now though, he needs to stay where he is

      Delete
  64. saw the highlites... theres no way they can call that goal off. monoham made a clear effort to avoid contact with the guy keeping him offside and he did a great dance to stay the line as well. absolute garb they called it back.

also absolute garb the boys blew a 2 goal lead, twice. smh.... still very pleased they were leading so many times. screw the build. win now. its possible. even with snakie in goal.

oh... and that campbell cup photo... where is 7evens? was he still KO'd from that cheapo by schiefflie?

oh oh... and i havent been around these last 2 yrs cause im still not over it.
