  2. Great thread, moe. Luke Richardson returns, Connor Bedard stepping onto Canadiensland for the home opener, great script.

    1. Forgot about Richardson. Welcome back Luke.
Hope the Habs fans give him a nice round of cheers.

    2. Commodore Perry too, but not his first return if memory serves.

Welcome back Luke! No offense but I hope your team doesn't win tonight.

Ryan Reaves no doubt is one tough dude, but I think he turned down a rematch with AX later in the game. It was funny seeing the dumb as a rock leaf crowd waving their rally towels thinking he won the fight earlier.

For Wifi to know in MarCh he will have to take down the bully of the whole NHL, I wonder about his mental health. Yesterday when I grew up this would not even be a consideration, but today its like
what if Revess has transgender thoughts, can you still hit her:|?

Seen Bedard live twice. He still getting settled -- not going to be a factor. F- Corey Perry. Habs 4-2 (EN from Dach).

All that I ask is the Fragile line play like Yours is No Disgrace

  7. Habs gonna show the HNIC viewers how to do a home opener. Can't wait!

  8. Great thread moe.

Original 6 matchup and CBC is showing...leaf/Wild. Still so sad that corporate greed took over HNIC.

    Anyway, go Habbies!

  9. Should be a good game, but the M, like myself, you may want to keep an eye on the USC/Notre Dame game on NBC at 830. Caleb Williams, the USC QB is supposed to be the biggest 'sure thing's to be a star since Andrew Luck. Each of our teams might have a chance at him...

One can only hope! No Daniel Jones against the Bills tomorrow evening. I wonder if the Giants have a Brock Purdy - type QB hangin' around?

I wonder how much leaf blowing will take place on the pre-game tonight? Those clowns are probably still whackin' off to the narcos hat trick and will hardly pay any attention to Connor Bedard's hnit debut.

  11. the Maritimer6:51 PM

So the leaf blowers manage to talk about Bedard and Dach, then mclame gets bored and says 'ok let's get to the leaf story.'

    Immediately hit the mute button.

  15. Kinda different way to introduce them this year...by position

    ReplyDelete
  16. It seemed a bit disjointed waiting for the players to get to centre before announcing them, but man am I glad to see they've finally retired the torch! I swear that thing was a curse.

    ReplyDelete
  17. yeah, kinda weird. its supposed to be synched with monsieur announcer! and the visitors are supposed be introduced first so they can see how awesome their opponents are.

    (where is lord byron?)

    1. LB has retired and has an off ice position with the team, but I forget what exactly.

  18. screw that. the torch is fantastic. only reason why it was a curse cause they havent brought home the cup since 30yrs ago!

  26. Hey, big TinTin is still in the league.

    ReplyDelete
  27. yeah, was just about to say something also. man... they are really good at developping D-men for some reason (snowman, tin-tin, juul, czar, kadillac...)

is he still getting top 4 minutes over there? i thought it was a mistake letting him go...

    1. yeah, appears so. he took a skate after that bench ride. cbc guys said maybe a knee injury, but cameras caught him pointing to his thigh.

  30. the Maritimer8:08 PM

Decent period, PP looked good but still needs work. Chicago is really bad, the Habs should be up a couple. Monty looked decent too. What an ugly haircut on Bieksa. Blecchh.

Sean Monahan is so good. He's a keeper in my opinion.

We are going to love Alex Newhook. Crazy skill and speed to burn.

AX, go easy on Commodore, I still have a soft spot for that guy. I haven't forgot 2021.

hoffman... wasnt he also on our team?

  50. the Maritimer9:31 PM

The only reason Chicago is even in this game is all the weakass penalties being called on Montreal.
Chicago will be looking at the 1st overall pick again. They will have a Bedard/Cellebrini combo next year. All part of the buttman plan.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Teams will quickly figure out they just need to play 6 on 5 vs the Habs. No need for a goalie.

Good job hanging on there. Thanks left post.

    ReplyDelete
  52. the Maritimer9:54 PM

Man, they cannot defend that 6 on 5. Somebody better figure that out soon.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Nice home opener win, boys! Monty looking very much like our #1

    ReplyDelete
  54. Agreed. Monty looks like the #1, but Allan had a much tougher opponent.

I watched some of the Canucks game...DeSmith looks like he might have been the one to keep. Played very well.

Monahan won 88% of his faceoffs! Not since Yannick Perreault have we had that kind of success.

Hate to admit it after the beatings he's taken for this team, but Gallagher's best days are clearly behind him. 4 years left at 6.5 per...definitely MB's biggest leftover gaff. Just have to hope he can find his old self or some part of it.

    1. the Maritimer9:26 AM

Agreed about Jake. The pathetic leaf hammered Minnesota last night.

The DeSmith trade is a wash, I like Tanner Pearson.

Monahan is a keeper, he is their best center (at the moment) bar none.

And yes, Lep is a diminished version of himself. Can't keep up and it looks like his hands are gone as well. I have no idea how HuGo will handle this one. They can't trade him and they won't discard a beloved figure. The only solution may be LTIR.

    2. Whiskey will get at least 80 goals. Dach Vader is fragile.

      Delete
  55. BTW the M, that QB looked like trash last night. Which I'm ok with...as my name might suggest, I'm a fan of the Fighting Irish.

But he's still the #1 QB and will likely go first overall assuming that is a team in need of one.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Some nice goals.

Learn to keep a lead boys.

Only 1 measly point behind the leaf.

  59. Football notes.

    1. It is confirmed that the Patriots and especially Mac Jones are absolute trash. I don't see how they can keep starting him unless BB is now playing Supreme Tank Commander.

    2. Giants nearly pull off a huge upset! I was cheering for them (more wins than the Pats is good and I hate the Bills even more than the G-men). FWIW I think they were robbed on the last play and there should have been a PI penalty called on Barfalo.

    2. Goddammit! And I read that the logical call up would be Heineman, but he suffered a concussion after a freak collision with an official on the weekend.

I blamed the torch, but it's clear that the curse is Bettman. He didn't have the chance to work his mojo his first year at the helm, when the Habs last won the cup. One way or another, he's gotta go...

Lots of angst about Kirby Dach's knee. I would remind people that the General Vodkov had two knee surgeries and never missed a beat upon his return. Also, Serge Savard broke both of his legs early in his career and we know how that turned out.
