Picks are in green. Outcome is in orange.
21 games. 9 correct. 12 wrong.
Of the 12 wrong, 5 games had points predicted and just ended up being a W rather than OT loss or vice versa.
Had predicted 19 points. Got 20 points. Safe bet to say this is around a .500 team.

ReplyDeleteGo STEELERS !
ReplyDeletewant soup. He is my tank commander of choice. On the other hand, I cant see any diff between number six and number 16. Maybe we call Roy the Alter Boy, as St is already taken. Looking at teams like Buffalo, Ottawa etc, our future is uncertian and the end is always near.
ReplyDeletePosting a comment is like powerhorse shooting percentage.
Noice one, moeman!
ReplyDeleteSo Powerhorse out with a lower body ailment, Joshua Roy looks to be in the line-up and HondaCivic in for Red Barron. I would've done the same. Barron is not equipped to defend against McDavid and his buds.
Bills-Steelers postponed until Monday. ~moe
ReplyDeleteGood call. No point putting folks in danger trying to get to a game. Never mind the logistics of playing in that weather.
DeleteGonna watch the Montreal ladies hockey team game.
ReplyDeleteGreat thread moe! Many thanks for the hard work keeping this forum alive, I love it!
ReplyDeleteGood call on sitting Von Clumsy, McD would eat him alive.
Meh on Roy, guess we will see. I might watch the Avs take don the leaf. Maybe. Who wants to bet the Habs get Drou-mezed this Monday?
I was hoping they would let him cook in the A the whole year, but of course the ol' injury bug had other ideas.
DeleteThe Montreal unis are sharp. I've heard some say they should name the team the Maroons and I don't disagree.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the full cage is mandatory in the PWHL or if the ladies just prefer to keep their teeth?
ReplyDeleteThey want their teeth intact plus no scars on their faces either. Makes sense. I think someday when all the dinosaurs who run the NHL are gone you will see full cages on the men. It would cut down on concussions and eliminate fighting. I may not be around to see it but it will happen.
DeleteI know this is unlikely but JFWIR!
ReplyDeletePlease .... JKIR (Just Keep It Respectable)
ReplyDeleteIn football news: Houston beating the crap out of the Browns. Going to be -35 in Kansas tonight, the football will be like a rock.
ReplyDeleteWe have a playoff pick pool at work and a young woman who admittedly knows nothing about football is the only one of 12 to pick Houston 😄. I hope she wins if I don't.
DeleteI changed half my fantasy team a few hours before game time once I heard about the weather in Kansas, dropping Mahomes for CJ Stroud, Kelce for Dalton Schultz, that paid off big time. I hope.
DeleteWhiskey!
ReplyDeleteWhiskey!
ReplyDeleteWho? What?
ReplyDeleteHabs have barely touched the puck in the last 10 mins
ReplyDeleteThat was a fucking piece of shit period of hockey by the Habs. Fucking awful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fucking farce this all-star shit is. Anything involving narcos and his bestie bieber is pure f_cking garbage just like the wretched leaf and the sycophantic sfu.
ReplyDeleteHere we go...ffs
ReplyDeleteI'm flipping back and forth from football, what little I've seen of the Habs game, it's about the same as Thursday, klutz hockey, they have all the offensive skill of a herd of bison.
ReplyDeleteWell they could only take so many trips to the box before it was going to bite them in the ass.
ReplyDeleteHeh, leaf blew a 3 goal first period lead.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see our guys aren't the only inept team with leads.
Here’s to CHestering!
ReplyDeleteLong live Ana
So hot
Go Habs
Not a totally bad game but leaving goalies out to dry is too commonplace. ~ moe
ReplyDeleteThey can play a hard checking game if they want to. Still too many border line AHL players in the lineup. The first line is a really a second line. The defence is coming but, indeed, they are giving up way too many shots and that may be just the difference in the talent level on some teams. Players like McD and Leon are head and shoulders above the Habs best.
ReplyDeleteBest thing last night (during football breaks) was the leaf blowers showing a stat that the leaf get 50% of their goals from 3 players while Colorado gets 27% from 3 players. I love it when that shit blows up in their face!
Don’t know how it happened but for some reason I caught the intermission panel on I think it’s sports net (?) mclame was there with haharudy some woman who screams at everyone and of course the blob known as o dog
ReplyDeleteI couldn’t believe my ears
This was hockey night in Canada ffs nothing but leaf blowing interspersed with a level of ignorance I that was embarrassing
That and the fact that when the subject strayed from the leaf they ended it as soon as humanly possible so pathetic
I switched to RDS when it was mclame and The National Embarrassment at intermission and I think I’ll stay away
I couldn’t stomach them then and I sure can’t now
Sad reality is that this spew flows into so many houses who have no options
Luckily I have Pierre Houde (sp)
Go Habs
@CHester, you have been out of the loop for a while, this shit has been going on for years, pretty much since leafnet got the NHL broadcast rights. What you and I (and others) once knew as Hockey Night In Canada died a long time ago. That so-called panel with mclame and those other clowns (that was BizNasty not O-Dog btw) are the absolute worse leaf blowers ever. This is all mandated by Rogers and Bell, the co-owners of ml$e and the wretched, putrid leaf. They are trying to present the leaf as 'Canada's' team hence the majority of the air time goes to them. They will ultimately fail, because every poll ever taken has shown that the Montreal Canadiens are more popular across the land and it's also been proven that leaf fans are the most annoying (and delusional) in the league. I don't subscribe to RDS but we get the TSN regional broadcasts here in the Maritimes where they don't talk about the leaf during any intermission.
DeleteI have come to the realization recently that Boy Wonder Dubas wasn't the architect of the 'Core 4' plan but 'Sham'ahan with the latest signing of Nylander to a monster contract. Also, I don't think he or the Board care if the leaf ever win the Cup. They want to sell thousands and thousands of matthews, marner and nylander jerseys. As long as the leaf win on a Saturday night and score lots of goals they don't give a crap about the post season. A couple of playoff home games in the first round probably gets some suits a nice bonus. Eff the rest.
End of rant.
Green Bay walks into Dallas (the NFL version of the leaf) and absolutely destroys the Cowboys. Gotta think McCarthy is gone maybe Dak as well?
ReplyDeleteI watched every minute of that
DeleteI thought the boyz were superbowl bound and dak had the mvp in the bag
Very reminiscent of our leaf here in Canada
Loved the shots of poor old grumpy jerry sitting on his throne in his castle beholding the swelling scene
Just for the record sofi is much more impressive and the pack is back baybee
Go Habs
How's 'bout dem cowboys ? ~ moe
ReplyDeleteNice wins by Detroit teams too !
ReplyDeleteFunny, no mention of the leaf losing 3 in a row on the SFU networks. - the Maritimer
DeleteWeirdat
DeleteI think I will take a pass on tonight's game. I don't need to see Drouin score two goals against the Habs. I feel bad for Jake Allen, I hope he doesn't get lit up too bad. Hopefully the team will play as hard as they did against Edmonton but give up less shots.
ReplyDeleteI'll watch in the background because it is RDS. ~ moe

I kinda worry that druid is gonna score a couple tonight...let's hope the Habs come back with Saturday night's effort rather than whatever the fuck they showed up with during the week...
ReplyDeleteLast Slaf!
ReplyDeleteDoin what Drouin never could - go to the net.
DeleteAvs' backup goalie looks about 12 years old.
ReplyDeleteRHP!
ReplyDeleteFuck you refs.
Most blatant trip on 7vans ever
DeleteWhite Rabbit! RH-p!!
ReplyDeleteGI Joel!
ReplyDeleteArmy!
ReplyDeleteThis team is so hard to figure out how they stick with the good teams and stink it up vs the basement dwellers.
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! Nice W.
ReplyDeleteNice hard fought win, no passengers.
ReplyDeleteMy God, has MSL unlocked GI Finn's potential?
ReplyDelete4 goals from the forwards. 3 of them from just outside the crease with hard work. The other a beauty by Whiskey from 15 feet or so. It wasn't a perfect game by any means but this work ethic should be contagious and keep them on the right track.
ReplyDeleteThat was fun.
ReplyDeleteArmia just out there scoring goals and doing excellent PK work. One year left at $3.4M after this, he might just be part of a trade package with the Habs retaining $1-1.4M. He's one of the frustrating ones, because when he works hard, he's a really good player.
ReplyDeleteI was just looking at capfriendly. Good news! Alzner comes off the cap after this year. $833K freed up. Aside from the Sergachev-Drouin trade, I personally feel signing Alzner to that dumb contract instead of giving 2 more years to Vodkov was by far the biggest mistake of Bergevin's tenure...if not even worse. Five years/$23M and he played one season plus 13 games over the next 2.
ReplyDeleteTesting, I'm now a blogger, apparently.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm jaded, I'm older, I've watched too much losing hockey since 1993 to be too excited by HuGo's ramblings at yesterday's press conference. Like Red Fisher used to say: "Show me the players!"
ReplyDeleteBased on my eye test, Nick and Cole are good second liners and Slaf is a 3rd line guy. That being said, my eyes aren't what they used to be either.
Six important games before the break. If they are going even hope to be a playoff team, they need to win 5 of 6. And beat NJ, NYI and PIT in regulation. Beat the Bruins in OT. Win one and lose one to Ottawa. Then it's time to acquire some elusive goal scoring talent...even if Hughes says that's not a priority. Because I don't believe that he actually thinks that is not a priority.
ReplyDeleteHughes probably is thinking he has those players in Dach and Newhook. Maybe we will find out next year?
DeleteNice win...gotta keep that drive going on this trip. Slaf could get a dozen goals this year...hell...maybe 15...
ReplyDeleteI didn't see it but apparently the SN panel before the game were dissing Slaf, still talking about him taking dangerous hits and wondering which line he was going to be shuffled into for the game, 100% unaware that his game has changed and he's been on the top line for 20 games straight.
ReplyDeleteFuck Rogers, the leaf and all of their witless minions.
Leaf 2-0 lead squandered as they lose at home to Oilers in regulation, their fourth straight.
ReplyDeleteCome on now, be fair to the leaf. They lost in Edmonton :)
DeleteA pic so nice, it was posted it twice.
ReplyDeleteOnly one thing I love more than the smell of napalm burning in the morning. And that's the smell of fear, angst and burning leafs as the sfu hand wringing ratchets up to another level.
It would be funny as all heck if the burning leaf didn't make the playoffs. One of the core 4 getting hurt might do it.
DeleteLooking at the standings they (the leaf) are in danger of falling out of the wildcard race.
Delete*Rubs hands gleefully*
Curling for me tonight. Not sad about missing a NJ game.
ReplyDeleteHow 'bout dem leaf ?
ReplyDeleteI think we still have 3 games vs. those chuds.
Would be fun if they are the difference maker for their playoff hopes and dreams and nightmares and of course wet dreams ...
I still punish myself by reliving that first game where we gave them 2 points after giving up two 6 on 5 goals. That is a 3 point swing and with a Habs regulation win, like it should have been, the leafs would have 2 fewer points and due to their low RW #s would be sitting in 11th place in the conference at 48 points (instead of 3rd in Atlantic with 50 points) and be only 4 points up on the Habs who would have 44 instead of 43 (position unchanged).
DeleteThat is the fine line between that so-called contender and our young, rebuilding team.
Hey, The Maritimer is like Terry Ryan! After nearly 2 decades he's finally moved up to the pro ranks on Blogger! Maybe there will be a Martoonie celebration just like Terry :-)
ReplyDeleteHas it been that long? Holy cow time flies!
DeleteI started commenting as the Maritimer way back when Mike Boone was doing Habs Inside Out. That was a few years before I retired and that's been going on 16 years.

ReplyDeleteJR!
ReplyDeleteFirst NHL goal for Joshua Roy.
DeleteEwing?
Cuz Saint Joshua sounds a little too much like it's from a Kids In the Hall sketch.
DeleteJust for the record, not a fan of J. Roy.
ReplyDelete2 - 0 lead worst lead in hockey.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nick for taking that dumb penalty.
Houde and Denis are suddenly seeing flashes of another, taller, #22 in Whiskey's play there, potting one on the doorstep: Steve Shutt
ReplyDeleteSteve Shutt could rifle them too, off the rush. A lost art nowadays.
DeleteNice road win. $Hab was huge. Monty too. No passengers (except the refs).
ReplyDeleteLord Monty, the anti-tank weapon. He seems to get better with every game.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be very sad if Hughes trades MoneyHab, he makes everybody better, even G.I. Joel. Two really nice assists tonight.
I wouldn't be so quick to include Jordan Harris in any trade package, that guy is steady. He's better than Guhle at the moment. Older and more mature.
I watched the game on FF last night after curling. Well played. 1 regulation win down, 3 to go out of the next 5 with one OTL and they might just be sniffing a wildcard spot before the break. .
ReplyDeleteM - I assume your dislike of J Roy stems from his days as a Seadog? I honestly haven't seen enough of him to judge one way or another.
ReplyDeleteIf he needs a nick, we could go the Tree route (or should I say root? I'm laughing at my own joke here...) because of Joshua Tree.
The Joshua Tree is a variety of Yucca so that's an option.
Or go with fiction. If LOTR fans, go with Ent or Treebeard (my daughter is a Tolkien nut so I happen to know that in Entish, his name was Fangorn).
Or the GOTG route and go with Groot.
Roy was drafted 1st overall by the Sea Dogs in 2019. I don't know the details but he wanted out of Saint John shortly after his first season. Perhaps he didn't like the coach, maybe he was homesick, who knows. I do know he had some disparaging remarks about Saint John after he left. There have been many, many Quebec kids play for the Sea Dogs, notably Jonathan Huberdeau and Thomas Chabot who are now stars in the NHL and none of them ever trashed the team or city. We have won 2 Memorial Cups here, that says a lot I would think. Anyway, I don't have to like everyone who plays for Montreal. Claude Lemieux and Mike Ribeiro are two that I wasn't sad to see leave.
DeleteGood game, except for Nature, might've been one of his worst.
ReplyDeleteImagine if we nicked Roy 'Wink'.
ReplyDeleteI like the kid.
Not bad. The M might want to go with Fink instead.
DeleteLots of debate whether the Habs should be buyers or sellers at the trade deadline. Obviously, it will depend on many things, position in the standings being key. If they are within a few points of a spot I think Hughes might just stand pat. They don't really need any more picks but an NHL ready prospect might be enticing. I think a playoff run with the vets would be more valuable in the long run.
ReplyDeleteIf Savard or $Hab want to go to a contender, they'll be moved. This mgmt team will do right by them. Both should be coveted. There are too many d-men and $Hab can be re-signed July 1 if he's so inclined.
DeleteRE: Tonight's game, as Admiral Akbar from Star Wars Episode IV would say: "It's a trap!"
ReplyDeleteWhiskey!
ReplyDeletePez won that fight a little bit.
ReplyDeleteWaiting patiently for the Senators to lose interest is proving to be a shitty gameplan.
ReplyDeleteGlad I took a pass on this one. I had a feeling it would be a stinker.
ReplyDeleteHabs gotta learn to get excited about playing shit teams...
ReplyDeleteMeh, Stars, Avs, Rags all got beat up last night. Like Saint Paddy I avoided that shitshow it was entirely predictable.
ReplyDeleteI did the Tankathon spin just now, got No. 1 on spin 3. Beauty!
ReplyDeleteThat was brutal, bailed at 3-1.
ReplyDeleteFinished watching Season 5 of Fargo.
ReplyDeleteSo good.
Now to try out the new True Detective season and
Criminal Records.

ReplyDeleteSo what we thinking about tonight? WiFi is back. Habs will be hurting after getting spanked by the Sens... I see a messy affair. Anyone know who's reffing? Could make all the difference.
