  4. An OT loss is acceptable so long as they win the last 3 before the break in regulation vs NYI, Ott, Pitt I think it is. That said I'll take a reg win too....so, JFWIROOOLIOIYM

Playoffs, a pipe dream. Bottom 6 or 7 here we come.

  26. Monty wasn't himself after taking that shot off the facemask. Said it felt like he took a solid punch to the chin. Maybe he should've been taken out at that point. Anyway, a very entertaining two periods and the PP was clicking. The Leaf lost again and now I have a #2 to root for in the Isles (except this Thursday). What fun if they push the Leaf out of the last playoff spot!

  28. OK, a few thoughts, but not 32 SFU thoughts.

First, a big F U to POS mclame and his new sidekick The Joker (fried-man in his ugly purple clown suit) for trying to manufacture controversy regarding AX being in the minors. Losers.

As for that shitshow last night, that game needs to be kept in the memory banks. It won't happen this season and probably not the next either but, somewhere down the line revenge will be extracted. Remember at the end the regular season in 2022 when the Habs beat up a Panthers team who were resting their regulars 10-2? Well, last season the Panthers got their revenge a couple of times smoking a woeful, beat up Habs team. Florida didn't show any mercy. Lesson learned, I hope.

  30. There is quite a debate going on over at EOTP regarding MoneyHabs trade value. They've been discussing what teams need a center and what they may be able to offer in return. One of the teams was the leaf. I've been checking it periodically and spotted this beauty of a post. Moe will love it:

    "Fraser Minten untouchable?

You just got tricked by the shysters in Toronto.

The only reason Minten got this status as an A prospect is solely due to a trick by Toronto's FO.

What trick you ask? Toronto has basically no meaningful assets except their 1st round pick. What they did with Minten is an attempt to create value out of nothing. They gave this guy a 4-game trial in the NHL with the SOLE purpose to signal to Hockey Canada that he was one of the closest prospects to the NHL. Minten would've been a bubble player (for Team Canada) under normal circumstances. But because he had some NHL games, the national media basically penciled him in as a lock for the WJC which Hockey Canada obliged.

I am telling you right now. If we get Minten for Monahan, I will not be happy. This guy does not even move the needle for Laval. If Toronto is able to flip this guy for anything of substance then they will have accomplished what they were seeking all along, to inflate a subpar prospect in order to get a premium piece.

    Stay away from Toronto."

    What a great post!

Minten was made team captain and guess what, Canada didn't get a sniff at a medal. You can polish a turd but it's still a turd.

  32. Happy for Saint Patrick and his Isles for getting an OT win in his first gamd behind tgeir bench. I note the refs awarded 0 penalties to the perfectly behaved Dallas Stars for him (vs. 3 minors called on the Isles). Makes me wonder about an anti-French/anti-Habs bias still being harboured by some zebras.

  34. So Red Barron and the Sheriff passed each other on the Orange line (Montreal Metro stations for the Phone Booth and Laval's Place Bell are both on that line for those who weren't aware). This is good. RB has defensive things to work on and the Sheriff was ripe for a return to the CH.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Pretty obvious with the turds running roughshod over the Habs last time they needed a deterrent for Tka-Douche. And arsewipe stutzle needs a tuning up as well. Enter the Sheriff.

It was also time for Barron von Clumsy to get some AHL training in.

  47. Ok I was keeping the faith but I'm now willing to admit this is just an all around not very good team. Not enough depth skill. Not enough grit. Not enough defensive awareness. Not good enough goaltending. No elite sniper, with all due respect to Cole. No power play. Has AX been playing? Has he been told to tone down his physical play? A very disappointing and disheartening game. Etc. etc. etc.

  48. Came in late, sounds like I haven't missed anything. You know Saint Patrick will have his team fired up this Thursday. Maybe a fragile Pens team will offer some relief but Sid usually brings his A game to Montreal. Nope, looks like a nose dive down the standings are in order.

  51. Honestly, sending Stephens down was a choice I can understand, except you need four centres. All the line juggling made ot a mess. Jacques Martin's got his team settled into their proper state, playing sound, effective hockey. To many times no one knew where they were supposed to be or what they were supposed to do. Not MSL's finest moment as coach, nor HuGo's finest for leaving the line-up in such a cockeyed state.

As many goalies as centremen? Never seen it. Never.

I’m guessing the tank is being tuned up. Tighten all the belts and tracks, grease all the bearings get that sucker ready for the trade deadline.
Wether we send Tanner up or down or Ax Man in or out what remains the same is there is nary a russle from Hugo.
They are hunkered down in the foxhole ready to deflect any and all bombardment until the time is right. Listened to Gordo on melnick and he’s like ya we want to win and stuff but we’re just not doing anything right now cause we’re not in a hurry. In Marty we trust and so ya have a nice day.
    I’ll say this
If there isn’t something to smile about at the trade deadline I think we’re in for probably three more years of this. So everyone better put your helmets on it’s gonna get bumpy.
    Go Habs

  53. I agree with CHester, this IS the plan. This is what a rebuild feels like. Shitty.

Gorton and Hughes will not deviate so it is what it is. Brian Wilde mentioned in his column this morning that the fans laid off of them last night. That's a good thing, that they can recognize this is a very young, mistake laden bunch.

I am also on board for the "sell everything if the price is right" path. I wanted to keep MoneyHab but if someone antes up large take it.

I am probably done watching week day games. I'll stick to Saturday nights for the time being. I've got a ton of shows to get caught up on anyway.

  56. The Montreal Canadiens, barring lottery hijinx would be picking 6th in the upcoming draft. It took 7 spins to get up to #2. If it is #6, Cayden Lindstrom or Iginla's kid would be nice. I too, shall be taking a pass on tonight's game but I will check in on this site occasionally as SiM always posts who scores for the Habs.

    1. I should clarify it was 7 spins on Tankathon. They have Montreal taking Helenius at #6, if he is another Saku sure, but Montreal needs MOAR bigger. Speaking of Saku, his kid Aatos is ranked in the 2nd round. It would probably be better for him to play elsewhere after the way the french media treated his Dad.

    1. Yes, a rebuild does need veteran leadership and direction and $Hab is perfect for that role. He could get a better deal somewhere else though if he stays healthy and helps a club get deep into the playoffs.

    2. He is the best center on the team. Period. Brian Wilde talked about analytics in his column today. Monahan's line was over 90% for expected goals and Nick's line was less than 3%. We (and the team) are sure going to miss him when he's gone. The Tank will be full on.

  100. Commenters at EOTP debating trying to coax Stamkos to come to Montreal next season as he is UFA this July. They are saying it will be either Tampa or Toronto. Two things come to mind: 1) the wretched leaf couldn't afford him and maybe Stammer looks at how the media are starting to treat Pajama Boy during his recent slump and 2) Last time I looked, former Lightning players Marty St. Louis and Vinny Lecavalier now work for the Habs. Would they have any influence? I know Stammer doesn't fit "the timeline" for the rebuild but he might help the next few years, he turns 34 next month, how many years would he want?

Realistically it's doubtful he leaves Tampa, I still advocate for an extension for MonaHab, only 29 and drives play. He is worth far more than some late 1st round pick. A Grade 'A' prospect like Dach or Newhook in that age group has to be included otherwise no deal.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I'm with you on this, the M. Letting $Hab go is a bad idea unless they can turn around and sign him July 1. Then again HuGo has shown a great depth of understanding of what players are out there and available. I trust any surprises they have in store.

  102. Maybe Kent takes the late first (and a prospect?) for $Hab and turns that pick and the other first from Calgary he also got for him into an off season trade to pick up a known commodity that can score goals. Not sure whom that might be mind you. As a renowned former GM once said, trading is hard.

  103. I'm sure you guys have seen the story about Kid KoHo's travails in Carolina, very little point production, dropped to the 4th line, etc. Looks like that little revenge escapade has come back to bite those arseholes hard. Looks good on them. Even the annoying Grant Mccagg has admitted KoHo is a bust, never should have gone 3rd overall.
