It's going to be an economic shitshow on Monday with the Four Horsemen billionaires taking over. If the American people think those clowns care a whit about them, boy, are they in for a rude awakening. The pandemic will seem like a walk in the park. Buckle up folks.
im a huge doobie fan also, but i didnt realise they were doing b2b this wknd! in that case, monty swiss cheese was the only option. so yes, u guys are right doobie woulda won that match for us 100%, but im not sure if even TFS did b2b matches.
i agree with u guys this is a learning moment and when up a bunch, u play "prevent defence" . however.... if its necessary to still teach this, at the professional level, with the leadership we have on this team, then omg... we are in waaaaay worse shape than my worst nightmare.
having said all that, vs the rags was one of our greatest comeback victories ever. u guys remember that? so i guess after saying all that i havnt said anything useful cause thats sports
That's hilarious. The beatings Gallagher has taken in front of opposing nets over the years without getting calls. Then they call that shove by Anderson a crosscheck.
Was preoccupied with Josh How did Mr Beck do? Did he fit in or look out of place ? Sad for The Pez I’m guessing it’s the end of his road We have too many coming up Nice face punching by Ax man I guess Rempki has to justify his existence also sad really I wonder what Mr Gorton is thinking All those years crafting and then 6’12” no mind Eeesh Go Habs
Beck played a contained game. Nothing splashy, but solid defensively and not out of place. More familiarity with his new teammates will help him place passes more effectively as time goes on.
The stick ride and when he accepted a fight with cement head Reaves late last season when AX was hurt. That took a lot courage and he took a beating for his teammates.
Pez was a gamer and prob popular in the room but didn't quite have it when the Habs started playing serious hockey and mistakes mattered Too bad for him tho I liked him hope he has a nice landing somewhere So the ascension of Mr Beck has begun I see him being the second coming of Carbo or SuperPlexx or that guy that left for the kings The youth is starting to take over now, 3 solids on D with more coming and not counting Suzi Dactor or Hooker cause they're old we now have 4 solids on offence with more coming Future is bright Go Habs
That game tying 4-4 goal by Slaf was a great drive to the net. A great breakout by Fast Lane. Both of which have been discussed in the media. What is not being discussed is the extremely skilled play by Caufield to catch that pass and get a shot off as quick as he did. You need to see the behind the goal view, he accepts the one hopper off of his backhand, quickly to his forehand for the SOG and Slaf buries the rebound.
Brian Wilde is onside with our thinking. The time is now to lure Sid to the Habs. He thinks it will take the 2 first round picks and 2 high end prospects (Beck and Mailloux). I still say they would demand DaCH instead of Beck. But it is Boy Wonder Dumbass, so who knows.
The ONLY way that Sid will end up in Montreal is if HE demands it and I really can't see that.
But, I'll play along. One 1st round pick (Montreal), Pitt 2nd round back to them, a 3rd rounder plus Logan, Konyushkov, DVo and Pez.
Let's not forget who holds all the cards here. Kent doesn't need Sid. Pitt is trying to rebuild on the fly so they want NHL ready players more than picks. If Boy Wonder wants Beck I hang up.
Hockey Junkie might be the best Habs game reviewer out there. With a line like "When Xhekaj Chan drops the mitts and gets that left hand going, guess what, he sends the Rempire State building crashing down!", and all in a fine Nefwanese accent, you gotta love it. And he has some good merch, t-shirts that read Black Eye from Xhekaj, Frig Da Leafs, JoshuWaWa (this one for the M).
Most teams have 10 games to go before the break. Some as few as 8. A few with 11. Generally teams will have 55-57 games under their belts. With 6-7 games after the break and before the trade deadline. Habs will probably need to get at least 14 of 20 points before the break. THere are some tests in that span, but assuming the team continues playing like it has, it should be doable. I wonder if there is a trade freeze associated with this SMITTASG Cup?
Keep the foot on the gas, the pedal to the metal, the foot on the throats of the teams around them and it will make for an interesting deadline and beyond. Haven't been this excited for the team since '21.
I'm trying to not pay too much attention to the standings. All these .500 teams will probably keep playing the same pace. Just win as many games as possible and let the chips fall.
Interesting to watch the tankage of the beaners and the large flightless birds Two debatable dynasties on the way down The birds are being led by dumbass and we know where he’ll take them Listening to our in house Sid fan club I wonder if dumbass would actually pull the trigger on that The beaners are another story they actually benched bradley the mongrel and have publicly admitted to a readjustment or some such word The smouldering pile of compost is clearly in decline Little mitchie hasn’t been signed jonny toronto is old and creaky and underpants Is off to Germany for a sex change Tampon bay is on the decline as well So makes you wonder who is on the upswing who will be our competition Who are going to be the next bunch of contenders Interesting times Go Habs
Just watched Half-a-dov score a beauty on splooge net He has this wide leg spread style when he is coming into the offensive zone Allows for quick turns highly maneuverable interesting style Go Habs
i respect and love what he did there, but its only the cowardly refereeing which prevented a faceoff. had we been losing, it would be us furious, right guys?
Just like Slaf says, it's hard not to be a scoreboard watcher with the race this tight. So Go Devils! Columbus, do like your BJs name says and suck! (I won't cheer FOR that team they're playing) Go Kings!
Speaking of Slafkovsky, "Slaf" is a weak nickname relative to what we've done for other players. I know SiM has thrown LastSlaf out there but it doesn't seem to be catching on :) So follow this - Jurai, sounds a lot like Uriah. As in Uriah Heep. One of their greatest songs? The Wizard.
So we could have Maestro (Hutson conducting the PP) and The Wizard (finding holes where none seem to exist like that goal last night).
Just food for thought. Nothing wrong with multiple nicks, like many players before them have had.
This took me on a trip down memory lane, as I went looking at the old Nicknames page. Food and drink seems to be a common theme: Meat BBQ Big Mac (McM) Vodkov Yeast Micky Ribs CHip CHicken Squid Cakes Beer
So Mr Beck has been sent back So does this mean Pez is back in or another fellow from Laval There were a few mentions like to see how Tuch is it spelled he’s a big boy give him a look or that other fellow whose name escapes me Jared? Anyway we have another day or two Go Habs
Davidson. He's the guy I thought would fit best in that winger role. Beck has never played wing. We've had a Hog before so we could stick with Harley if/when he makes the leap. *Fun fact - Davidson or Son of David. King David in the bible had 19 known 'legitimate' sons from his 8 wives and numerous children by his several concubines. So lots of Davidson's from waaaay back.
8 wives Oooh boy CHester has enough trouble with one Couldn’t imaging living with 8 Mrs CHesters Wonder if Dave was from Utah? Anyway agree with mr Davidson From the highlights I see he looks like he would fit in nicely Go Habs
Actually the leafs lost to Columbus, so the BJs will have leapfrogged the Habs. I expect we'll see a lot of that over the next few weeks. For example if the Habs win tonight and the beaners beat the turds, Habs would vault into 3rd in the Division, with TB and Boston filling the wildcard spots.
Beaner took out NJ's Markstrom last night. Very reminiscent of that scumbag Kreider on Price where he basically began the end of his career.
The silver lining for the Habs on this is if Jake Allen plays 40 games this year (and NJ make the playoffs), the draft pick moves from a 3 to a 2. He's only played 15 so far, so Markstrom would probably need to be out for the season. With about 36 games left, 25 by Allen would be a tall order despite who the 2nd goalie is.
Hard to believe that KidG who became Lep (Leprechaun?) who is now just Gally, an undersized 5th round pick with the heart of a Lion will play his 800th NHL game tonight. I hope and pray he can play his 1000th game one day and retire a career Hab. Who is the last Habs player to actually finish his career playing for the Montreal Canadiens? The Pocket Rocket? Would Markov count since he was forced out the door by the small minded biceps bergy?
Tonight will be Game 48 for Montreal. That leaves 34 for this season so if Gally stays healthy for the next two seasons that would put him at 998 by thy end of the 2026-27 season and the end of his current contract @$6.5mil per and he would be around 35 years old. Would he sign a one year deal at a reduced rate to play that 1000th game as a Hab? Thoughts?
Heh, I was doing that math too. Hard to imagine him not missing a few games the next couple of years and ending up more than a couple games short, considering his history. In theory, with 2 more years under all of the belts of the greener players, this team 'could' be contenders. Having a presence like Gallagher in the dressing room and patrolling the 4th line with reduced minutes could be invaluable. He married a beauty from Quebec and they're expecting un Lep l'enfant (pardon my butchering of the beautiful language), so he could be enticed to stay for a good price. It's a tough one, because there just may be better options hockey-wise, but not better options team-wise, if you know what I mean.
Lep came one year on St. Par's if I'm not mistaken. I dubbed him Lip after the character on tge US version of Shameless (all Gallaghers and all scrappy underdog types). Lip was the smart, tenacious big brother. Great series.
i thought you guys gave him that name b/c of that brutal cross check to the face by those scumbag flyers who actually laughed at him about it for being too short
Gallagher has been the heart and soul of this team for years. Too many good, long-time Habs have been cut loose previously because of declining performance. Unless the wheels fall off drastically this should not be the case. He will only be 35.
it was a mistake to pass him for captain after gio left. i thought it was a mistake to give it to paches and again another insult to bestow it to bbq immediately after he was acquired
