Last pic reminds me of a TV show called Here Come The 70's Used to love watching that woman walk into the ocean Concerning The M's post of older players who know how to win, taking a look at our veteran bottom lines and remembering what The Commodore brought to us and how well the vets have adjusted to the PK and allowing the rolling of 4 lines it makes sense to spend some cap on the bottom 6. It puts vets on the ice as well as in the room. Maybe we look at resigning Army. That would give us Gally Powerhorse and Army as vets to balance out our younglings of Suzi CC Slav Dactator TJ and soon to arrive Half-a-Dov. I wouldn't be adverse to Hugo signing a 30 something forward who still has some life as well as replacing Savvy, should he depart, with another vet. Rino and Bathing Suit still need to marinate. Our flash in the pan seems to be over and we have crashed back to reality and so be it. No knee jerking from Hugo please. Steady as she goes Mr Sulu. Go Habs
I remember that show well. You can see the intro of the (naked) girl waling into the ocean on YouTube.
As for your suggestions for retaining and adding some vets, I recall the CHommodore/Army/Staal 4th line in the 2021 playoffs, you couldn't get the puck when they were on the ice. Size matters.
The Canadiens announced Saturday that forward Owen Beck and defenseman Logan Mailloux were recalled from the Laval Rocket in the American Hockey League.
I like all cans with a deposit. Yeah I dont live off the deposits, if you looky looky the Habs are way past the eye test and depending on the secornd round that neve ever eever hit a target. Lane Hutson fast rock lane where did he land. Anyone watching sfu hockey or trade war analysis? I'm flipping back and forth. The REM song 'It's the End of the World As We Know It' is playing in my head for some reason.
It's amazing what short memories the Americans have. Led by a fat, greedy orange turd, a great many of them have forgotten about the Iran hostage crisis, 9/11 and just a few days ago, helping to keep L.A. from burning up. Canada needs to turn our backs on a now enemy state who is trying to take us over with economic force. I can't do much but I can look at labels on products and if it says made in the USA it stays put and can rot on the shelf.
There are greedy Canadians for sure but I don't think any of them are trying to destroy another country's economy. Somehow, a conman has managed to take over a political party and the most powerful country on earth. No doubt we are going to take some hard hits but we can withstand this hostile takeover. Fuck trump.
Time to turn off the taps. Not a single bottle of American wine, beer or bourbon should be sold anywhere in Canada. From here on in I will only drink "freedom" wines from Canada, France or Spain. As for the beer? It's shit anyways. True. North. Strong. Free. @strongasfuck
I agree Rosie ain't much to look at but I don't watch her shows. I really enjoy Cochrane a good newfie with a sense of humour. I watch Power and Poiltics nearly every night, the Power Panel anyway.
We would be the only ones listening. Nobody in Washington, D.C. is and not one of them would give a damn. We (Canada) are less than nothing to them. We will not win in a trade war, it's not possible. All we can do is slowly wean ourselves off that market and trade with the rest of the world, some countries excluded of course. The sooner we can extricate ourselves from the clutches of America the better off we will be. I hope I live long enough to see it.
This will be my last comment on the matter (see above).
I have been mostly a small c conservative all my life but I have voted for many different parties. The party I used to vote for died with Brian Mulroney.
Removing interprovincial trade barriers should be near the top of the agenda. I've never understood why this still exists.
The other thing I've read is that America gets 80% of it's potash from Canada. Good luck growing your crops without fertilizer I say.
Whether you lean left, right or centre, the next Liberal leader is an important decision. It's certainly looking like Carney but I gotta applaude Frelund for suggesting a 100% tariff on the Nazi-mobiles.
It’s become the place we hoped it wouldn’t The orange rapist has brought out the bigots white supremacists and all stupid violent uneducated fuckwits that place has to offer I check everything in whatever store I’m in and if it says america I don’t buy it I don’t cross the border anymore Let them do what they will Couldn’t care less Go Canada Go Habs
Trump thinks he can starve Canada into the 51 st state. It raw power not seen in the west since the 18th century. It is far more realpolotik than whats going down in Ukraine. We did have an election on this issue, and Mulroney got his majority and sold Petro Canada to Exxon. I dont know if lyin Brian believed, but Canada did. Now we know.
Mel Hurtig working with Pam Palmateer, Anne Lagacé-Dowson and the great punk rock politician Charlie Angus served a good reminder of that FTA last week, introducing their Pledge for Canada:
Agreed Back to hockey Dealing with the orange rapist can get emotional as it brings out our patriotism So Hugo cleverly brought up bathing suit and Mr Beck for the Cali swing This allows them to partake in the AHL thingie down there as well as jump in or out of our lineup as required. Smart Really would like to see bathing suit start to push for a spot on the Habs. He is only a year younger that Goules but what a year makes I guess. Happy that Hugo didn't jump into the recent trading frenzy we've come this far we need to stay the course So bring on the canards Go Canada Go Habs
So Mrs CHester being the educated intelligent woman that she is routinely on social media with the americant's about their politics and a host of other subjects and so she posted something about the booing of the americant anthem at the snores game and she probably posted in her usual respectful diplomatic manner refrencing our displeasure with these tarifs and she comes up to me, as she is no sports fan and asked if I knew of a hockey player named Sidney Crosby. I said yes and asked her why and she said because he gave her a heart on her post. I informed her that Sid is captain Canada and a bit of a guy in the hockey world and she seemed pleased that he did what he did. So she followed the thread of the post and it was actually Sid that did that. So good for Sid and good for Mrs CHester. Go Canada Go Habs
As for Canada, well, I think the words of Winston Churchill sums it up nicely:
"We ask no favours of the enemy. We seek from them no compunction… We will have no truce or parley with you or the grisly gang who work your wicked will. You do your worst – and we will do our best. We do not expect to hit without being hit back, and we intend with every week that passes to hit harder. Prepare yourselves, then, my friends and comrades, for this renewal of your exertions. We shall never turn from our purpose, however sombre the road, however grievous the cost..." – Winston Churchill
Good first period boys. Long way to go. Let me add my politics here and be done with it. I have never been a fan of Trudeau but his speech today on the trade wars was very very strong. If he is replaced by Carney I'll approve that too. I had Carney over here for 5 years as the Gov of the Bank of England and he knows his shit. He is the right person to stand up to Trump. And that's all I'm gonna say about that.
Brian Wilde thinks HuGo is working on a deal, a big one perhaps, to acquire a star forward and a high end D in the 25-28 yrs old range to help his team get a playoff spot. I think they would burn some of their draft capital to do this. I would prefer to watch a team that is trying to get in the dance instead of looking at possible high draft picks. I'm tired of that shit.
Same. You can't just keep drafting players that 'may' be good in a few years and part of a competitive team in 5-7. Already have a good young core with potential star players in the making. I say go for it.
But we have to be prepared. That type of player doesn't come for just draft picks. High end prospects and maybe even 'lesser' but good roster players could be involved.
2. the political discussions above i actually like. none of u guys wrote anything disparaging, but instead were constructive in your criticisms and were balanced in talking about the other side i have no complaints listening to u guys argue L vs R
With 10 games to go before the break, I suggested the Habs would need 14 of 20 points to keep pace and stay in the race. They have since gone 1-4-1. 3 points. 4 more games. So even if they magically win those 4, that would be 9 of 20. More likely they split these 4 at best and end up with 5 of 20. Hell, a 20-10 record the rest of the way only gets them to 93 points. I don't know that will be enough. 21-9 gets them to 95. Simple math tells me that is .700 hockey. I think the dream is over.
But I still think they could be both buyers and sellers at the deadline. Those moves that were being rumoured may very well be true about a top 6 and a d-man. But I also can see some of the UFAs being moved as well. Savard, Armia, Evans, Devo. Any or all could end up moving. And the returns used in packages for other deals to bolster the lineup for the future. Or maybe the trade deadline comes and goes and we have the same team. WTF do I know?
None of those 4 guys you mentioned will get anyone significant. I've already moved on from a playoff scenario. I think HuGo's big move will be in the off season. 2025 was always the plan.
Oh for sure, 2nd round at best for a couple of those guys. And like you said Hughes already has a LOT of draft capital. You're probably right, it will be the off season we see something...but I won't be surprised if he does something crazy before the deadline either. If it's something that doesn't hurt the grand plan, he'll do it.
Yes, for sure he will. Jeff Gorton mentioned on the sick podcast that they will try and help them make the playoffs, if possible, but they won't deviate from 'The Plan' so anyone that's acquired will be in the 25-28 age bracket.
Can’t see us snagging anyone that would help us with the plan before trade deadline I think in the mix is gone and we are in a funny place Too high to fire up the Sherman too low for a high pic No man’s land Go Habs
Trump Blinked. I have some problems with Justins vision of the world. I do not support Ukraine. I do not support the idea that there are more than 2 sexes. I do support medical care for people who are truly in crisis. I do not support catch and release of criminals. However compared to the alternative, Justin has faced two extesential crisis with success. The covid where we could have gone do your own reseach like Sweden and seen a few million more deaths. This showdown with Trump was far more threathenig. Its not over but, for all you Justing Haters, so far he saved Canada and your two CHampions Scott Moe and Danelle Smith surrendered before the first shot was fired. What PEE PEE did except PEE his pants we will never Know.
Doug Ford said 'Fuck You' to the Maralago gangster. He is OK in my books I would vote for him in a heart beat. Essentially, he is running against the conman-in-chief in the province of Ontario. The other candidates aren't even in the running.
You know half or more of the things that spew out of the orange rapists mouth are just to bring attention to himself. There has never been a narcissist like him in the history of our planet. It’s actually stunning in its scope. I don’t think it was anything that Justin did so much as his tariffs announcement got him the attention he so craves. He’ll bring it up again so he can puff himself up once more. What a waste of skin. 51st state Eeesh No offence to our normal neighbours to the south, I assume there are a few, but no fucking way would I want to be an americant. Sorry Cole. At least what this exercise has done is sharpen our focus on our purchasing and our patriotism Go Canada Go Habs
As tired as well all got with Bradley and billiechuck I’m fed up with mahomes and Mr swift I am also a fan of nothing filly Filthy filly But I wanna see the eagles shred KC Go Habs
I have never given the NFL much of my time but my two college-age sons have gone all-in in recent years and they hate KC for being the league darlings. Between that and thinking of Robert de Niro's character in Silver Linings Playbook, that's enough for me to pull for the Eagles. I hear they have a pretty dynamic group assembled too.
As for politics, I am pretty active on Bluesky as scottinmontreal on that topic. Elon Musk is the bigger threat and yesterday it was good to see people (and a few Dems from Congress) finally take to the streets. We have to be concerned about the way this Nazi is infiltrating all our systems, getting control of key levers of the U.S. govt. and shaping our collective discourse to turn us all against one another, while stifling any science and research that doesn't serve his companies and their underlying purposes. The evangelical right has their boy in JD Vance and Musk will deliver the armageddon they cherish. Trump is only there long enough to firmly establish their wet dream of a fascist Amerikkka, and to work with Bibi to get all non Zionists out of the holy land. They'll ditch their trojan horse POTUS (or let him die of natural causes, which may not be far off) and take over for hood. Serious Handmaid's Tale stuff. The "only two genders" thing is just a shebolah to create the first class of victims for us all to fall. As I wrote in my song, Stoke the Fire:
Recipe for murder Divide the horror Give the people a scapegoat And point the finger
As a Canadian, all Trump's 51st state shit makes my stomach churn and my resolve stiffen - to fight to the death to stop him, and make sure my kids and grandkids live in a free Canada. I am so grateful to see our PM and his team navigate us through these difgicult days so deftly.
I love you all, FHFers. I love Canada. I love peace. But "I will not be subjected to criminal abuse."
And making us all sit through the Gazan genocide as if there is nothing anyone can do to stop it is the way to soften us up, get us accustomed and numbed to the daily bloodshed and inhumanity. This is essentially a very sick, very twisted Christofascist International crime syndicate suported by a nihilist broligarchy that seeks total world domination.
Charlie Angus said it best when he called this tariff bullshit a gangster style shakedown. No more no less.
Tee rump has divided America but he has united us. I will volunteer to join the military if they decide to invade.
Musk is the bigger threat. Tesla and Twitter should be banned outright in Canada.
Other than that, yeah, I will be cheering for Saquon and his Eagles against the league darling Swifties. Silver Linings Playbook was a very good movie, I've watched it twice. The Indian fans were hilarious!
Somebody's got to do it. So GO CHIEFS! Pat Ma Home Boy lead me to 3 FF championships so I'll keep the love, even if I dumped him before this past season.
As for the Trump/Musk bullshit, I agree with all of the above. We're already cancelling any American service we can. Bye bye Netflix. So long Prime (this will save us a lot because Mrs Pad lives ordering shit online). Got a list of products that we have but won't be purchasing. I love peanut butter...have to look into whether they make it in Thailand or something. Or do without.
I was wondering what it would take to have our own national shipping line? Of course that sets one up for misuse and abuse of the system . Didn't John Crosby run a shipping company?
Yes, use our own satellites (I'm sure Herr Musk will weaponized his rockets to try to take them out).
As far as giving in to the fat orange rapist felon (forf), what we just did is fine because that was already in place. But in 30 days, when the forf demands more, give him a big Fuck You! We will stand together. We will survive. We will be better because of this. So thank you you giant fucking douche.
Ever since I lost the bills I give no fucks either. Be interesting to see if the fans at the belle centre boo the americant song. Classy as we are sposed to be. It pains me to say this but go filthy. Anyway right wing spew in americant claims victory but us educated canucks know that everything we "gave up" was already on the books as of last year. The orange balloon got "victory". Good for Justin to get a win on his way out, he's not my favorite but I'm happy for him. Now lets buy Canadian, travel elsewhere and lets give those uneducated toothless inbred motherfuckers the finger now and forever. Go Canada Go Habs
In Habs land news, Wool and the Dachtor have been split up, they don't mix. Supposedly Wool will drop down to line 4 with 7Evans and GI Finn, yeesh, I don't know if that will work. I would have put him with Nick and CC to see if they can get him going. Maybe Marty can find the eMpTy blender and mix it all up.
My spidie senses are starting to tingle when it comes to Wool. Correct me if I'm wrong but the last couple of teams he played on had a problem with him being shall we say a little disinterested at times. I don't think this will fly with Marty. If anything all Marty asks for is 60 minutes of both attention and effort, and if you don't have time for that well you can sit. I don't think Mr Wool needs a pep talk. He is at last look a bit of a Hugo rehab experiment. A filler piece in between now and when we are swinging for the fences. If it works out fine if not well Geoff has lots of money. He took that time off to get his head in the right place so lets go stie. Go Canada Go Habs
Wool is like Brett Hull, all he does is score. Accept it, he is an exception that you use to your advantage and dont ask him to be something he is not , or never will be.
but to be fair and to be upfront and honest about it, hull never had his skeletons following him to his third team (or did he? i honestly dont remember).
the only thing i recall is that whenever usa hockey called, he took a lot of pride in answering their call b/c of what hockey canada did to him before he became golden
So now the orange balloon is going to take over gaza develop it into a Mediterranean paradise and they can all leave or stay and get their own duplex But only after buying Greenland taking over the Panama Canal and of course turning us into state 51 And he’s thought up all of this all by himself in his first month as president Astonishing Go Canada Go Habs
In reality it would be dumb to have Canada as a state bigger than the rest of the country, so there would probably need to be at least 7 new states. NF, Maritima, QC, ON, Prairies, BC, North. QC might put up a fight for sovereignty, but in the end there are just too many plentiful resources for Trump to resist (like smoked meat, poutine and strippers).
Gee this might be the first game ever with zero posts.
I watched the hi-lites. Great to see them get the W. But only 20 shots vs the Sharks. That's not a good omen vs the worst team in the league. Me thinks the test will be a bit tougher tonight. Toffee scored last night. I expect 1 or 2 from Dano tonight.
hi-lite of the night, oleg's favourite goalie Monty robbing Celebrini on a late PP. Then Evans and Armia pop a shorty for the win. They're not dead yet, but get the paddles ready.
My first movie crush was probably Raquel in 1,000,000 B.C.
Speaking of watching older material, I am having fun watching the TV series 12 O'Clock High which ran from 1964-67. All the episodes are on YouTube. It's interesting to see the guest stars, among them are some people who went on to have significant careers. Bruce Dern, Lee Merriwether, Peter Fonda and many others. I remember I used to draw pictures of the B-17 bombers.
Saying I got the tech means I have a 65 inch TV and I watched the first time on a 27 inch monitor. Also you had to wait and wait, almost a decade to get the flow. Now I chop off two eps a day and maybe more on the weekend.
Just to jump in here Merideth Baxter on the Michael J Fox TV show was smokin hot and for old TV shows we don't want to go as far back as Rocket Man but nothing beat Rat Patrol. Anyway We won, lets build on that. Go Canada Go Habs
Keep in mind, I'm a bit younger that you fellas, I think my first celeb crush was Linda Carter. Though it may have been Diane Parkinson of The Price is Right. I remember watching that show just hoping they're giving away a sail boat or beach vacation.
Agent 99 aka Barbara Feldon was another wet dream, she was on an episode of 12 o'clock high I watched recently, had a bit part as a nurse. And yes I forgot about Jeannie, Larry Hagman was a lucky dude.
Latest in a long line of shitty premiers we've had to live with. My whole life it's been nothing but wankers: BooBoo, Johnson, Parizeau, Bouchard, Charest, Marois (she brought in childcare at least), and this Duplessis wannabe. Seems like an endemic issue with the federation how easily self-serving asshole premieres are able to manipulate the system for their own purposes, as if they were against Ottawa - when truth be told we shoukd all be pulling together against Uncle Sam playing us all off each other.
So I’m reading about an interesting package deal containing Army and Sevens Interest being as a pk shutdown pair You know previous administrations didn’t seem to appreciate the bottom 6 Letting dano go was a waste ok he wanted too much dough but things were dragged out and he waited too long I’m hoping Hugo is talking to Sevens He’s a perfect bottom 6 center sign him and pay him 3 year term CHester speaks Go Canada Go Habs
I believe they should keep 7Evans --- a homegrown product --- I would bet he wants to stay. I would re-sign GI Finn --- if he wants to --- 2 years @ $3mil per. Good PK pair Heineman was/is a good fit with them. They need a good 2nd line center, Dylan Cozens is being rumoured, Dach is safer on the wing.
THANK-YOU guys for FINALLY cutting out all that nonsense arguing over famous former pin-ups! its not even friday nor are we on a feel good run right now.
focus u idiots! gm2 of a b2b and the boys need to build some momentum heading into the stupud 4N bye wk. bear down and grind on!
good goals (in general) by the kings, but we all know and doobie must know that he needs to save above whats expected each and every night. not necessary to stand on his head, but at the least, has to play better than the other guy 75m away
the popular response is that we have been spoiled by the play of TFS for all those yrs, but is it any different from when joycelain or when St.P played? all those bookmarks (thibault, hacket, huet, moog, fiset, scrivens, toker, jaro, hamburglar, lindgren, jakie, cayden...) surely must have known it was a job requirement.
disregard the 6 guys u play behind. its a given u make them look good, and its also on u if they are terrible. those are the rules when u are a goaltender. another rule, especially for this city, either u are a bookmark or u are a legend.
BOO! Send Doobie down and bring back Primo. He is 9-0 with Laval with a 1.96 GAA and .923 Save %.
I kid of course. But I do find it odd that they played Monty vs the weaker Sharks again. It's too late to strategize about making sure you get 2 of 4 points if that was the thinking (by playing your better goalie vs the weaker opponent). Or maybe they think Doobie is 'the guy'.
I assume Swimsuit or BathingSuit is a rough/vague French-English translation of Mailloux? If so, I agree, great name.
3 goals from the back end. That's something I guess. That something being our forwards didn't do enough?
Anyway it is what it is. I'm not going to stress about it. I've mentioned before that the results of these millionaire athletes we follow have no bearing on my life in the end, win or lose. But that said...GYMFHG!
So maillot gives me jersey but I see maillot de bain is swimsuit. I get it. I like it.
I've been busy learning Greek as we prepare for an Adriatic cruise in May. Visiting ports in Greece, Croatia, Montenegro and Italy. But the ship is Greek. So I have mastered this phrase so far "Tha íthela mia býra parakaló". (I would like a beer, please)
I see the "I am Canadian!" beer commercial from 2000 making the rounds. I wonder if Molson is considering re-doing that ad considering the current political climate. I think it would be genius. It wouldn't make me purchase their swill, but I enjoy a good commercial. We are fortunate enough here in NS to have 'Joe' host our afternoon Mainstreet program on CBC radio. I'm sure he would be up for a reprise of that role.
Sorry about the bathing suit tag but living in the bell province you live in a franglaise environment and all I see with mr Logan’s last name is bathing suit So unless someone puts on their cape and grabs this team by the gonads I’m guessing it’s gonna be a lost weekend. We’ll watch the bowl and let les boys rest recharge reorganize refocus and have at it till the fat lady sings. I want to see Sevens signed and anything we can get for Devo and Army is a plus. Into the draft and summer and the Hugo watch is on. 2025 was always the destination so it’s almost upon us Go Canada Go Habs
I wonder if HuGo might pull the trigger on a deal before the weekend to give the team a spark of some kind. They've been in the doldrums for some time...
The more I read about Dylan cousins the more interested I get Wonder if Barfalo would bite on a Dachster for Dylan thing with maybe a toss in from Hugo ? He’s the right age a centre big boy Would look good on the second line and who doesn’t want out of barfalo Hmmmmm mmmm Go Canada Go Habs
In not sold on him. If Dach didn't lose a season, their stats aren't that different. I'm afraid it would be changing one underachiever for another. That said I haven't seen him play much so won't judge based solely on stats. It does seem to be a potential fit and their aren't a lot of potential #2 centres on the trading block.
The more I read the more I read about how Sevens is the best defensive center out there pk specialist scores shorties and game winning goals so wtf We have him we don’t need any more picks we have the money I don’t know This is a no brainer for me If we were accumulating picks ok But we’re not we are looking for good guys in their 20’s sooo duh Anyway when I last checked I wasn’t in charge Sadly Go Canada Go Habs
How fast can they skate and all the other stats. Rip town speed is low in Habs flat. The non NHL player HOOk is fast. I trust the trust fund. But as they say on TSN 690 we dont have a single superstar on the team, and superstars have been a prequesite to winning cups for a long time.
Interesting thought is that there is no freeze on trading during the 4 nations stupidity With all the recent action Hugo must be listening and stroking his chin. I suspect something will transpire sooner than later Go Canada Go Habs
I know there is significant interest in Dylan but Hugo has everything barfalo is asking for. I’ll bet that we are in deep on this one He’s the right age position and size plus he’s signed for term at less than Suzi. This all passes the smell test Would be nice if we didn’t have to give the dachster away after his knees and all Maybe barfalo would do a straight up Devo for Dylan Hey maybe never know Go Canada Go Habs
It's SB weekend and it's the Habs Playoffs in a weekend. If they win both games they are in with a chance. If they lose either of the games, that's them done for the season. No playoffs and a shitty draft pick...Big boy pants days kids! Try not to fuck this up! Seriously...there is no tomorrow...
Rest in peace to a wonderful singer.

DeleteI've never noticed any bias but that's just me.
DeleteNo worries here.
Deletebarton is the mclame of Canadian news. A horrendous sight.
I agree Rosie ain't much to look at but I don't watch her shows. I really enjoy Cochrane a good newfie with a sense of humour. I watch Power and Poiltics nearly every night, the Power Panel anyway.
DeleteHaven’t watched p&p for years.
DeleteVery strong words from our Prime Minister.
ReplyDelete~~~
We would be the only ones listening. Nobody in Washington, D.C. is and not one of them would give a damn. We (Canada) are less than nothing to them.
DeleteWe will not win in a trade war, it's not possible. All we can do is slowly wean ourselves off that market and trade with the rest of the world, some countries excluded of course. The sooner we can extricate ourselves from the clutches of America the better off we will be. I hope I live long enough to see it.
I agree we need to seek other/better opportunities. Live long and prosper TheM.

I have been mostly a small c conservative all my life but I have voted for many different parties. The party I used to vote for died with Brian Mulroney.
I respect everyone's opinion.
I'm an introvert who doesn't like to make waves.
Peace Out brothers.
Removing interprovincial trade barriers should be near the top of the agenda. I've never understood why this still exists.
ReplyDeleteThe other thing I've read is that America gets 80% of it's potash from Canada. Good luck growing your crops without fertilizer I say.
Whether you lean left, right or centre, the next Liberal leader is an important decision. It's certainly looking like Carney but I gotta applaude Frelund for suggesting a 100% tariff on the Nazi-mobiles.

ReplyDeleteMel Hurtig working with Pam Palmateer, Anne Lagacé-Dowson and the great punk rock politician Charlie Angus served a good reminder of that FTA last week, introducing their Pledge for Canada:

Dealing with the orange rapist can get emotional as it brings out our patriotism
So Hugo cleverly brought up bathing suit and Mr Beck for the Cali swing
This allows them to partake in the AHL thingie down there as well as jump in or out of our lineup as required. Smart
Really would like to see bathing suit start to push for a spot on the Habs. He is only a year younger that Goules but what a year makes I guess.
Happy that Hugo didn't jump into the recent trading frenzy we've come this far we need to stay the course
So bring on the canards
Go Canada
Go Habs
I think HuGo is working on something...
DeleteI'm hoping bringing Beck along means Dvo is being shipped.
DeleteSo Mrs CHester being the educated intelligent woman that she is routinely on social media with the americant's about their politics and a host of other subjects and so she posted something about the booing of the americant anthem at the snores game and she probably posted in her usual respectful diplomatic manner refrencing our displeasure with these tarifs and she comes up to me, as she is no sports fan and asked if I knew of a hockey player named Sidney Crosby.
ReplyDeleteGo Canada

My father was a history major. So stupid American is how we always refered to the cousins down south.
DeleteGood stuff! Link?
DeleteThis from Charlie Angus, very appropriate.
DeleteAs for Canada, well, I think the words of Winston Churchill sums it up nicely:
"We ask no favours of the enemy. We seek from them no compunction… We will have no truce or parley with you or the grisly gang who work your wicked will. You do your worst – and we will do our best. We do not expect to hit without being hit back, and we intend with every week that passes to hit harder. Prepare yourselves, then, my friends and comrades, for this renewal of your exertions. We shall never turn from our purpose, however sombre the road, however grievous the cost..." – Winston Churchill
And yes, many thanks to Mrs. CHester and to Sid for backing her up.

ReplyDeleteGood first period boys.
ReplyDeleteThose Ducks' unis are a gross colour.
ReplyDeleteAgree...dreadful
DeleteHabs need to play dull, unexciting hockey to kill these pesky ducks off...a goal would also be useful
ReplyDeleteThe dreaded 2nd period...
ReplyDeleteOk...so now they need to wake the fuck up!New game. Smarten up, give your heads a few shakes, and score a couple more goals
ReplyDeleteTerrible PP
ReplyDeleteSo that was last season in a period ...load of shit
ReplyDeleteBrian Wilde thinks HuGo is working on a deal, a big one perhaps, to acquire a star forward and a high end D in the 25-28 yrs old range to help his team get a playoff spot. I think they would burn some of their draft capital to do this.
ReplyDeleteI would prefer to watch a team that is trying to get in the dance instead of looking at possible high draft picks. I'm tired of that shit.
Same. You can't just keep drafting players that 'may' be good in a few years and part of a competitive team in 5-7. Already have a good young core with potential star players in the making.
DeleteI say go for it.
But we have to be prepared. That type of player doesn't come for just draft picks. High end prospects and maybe even 'lesser' but good roster players could be involved.
DeleteIHWT.

ReplyDeleteHell, a 20-10 record the rest of the way only gets them to 93 points.
DeleteI've already moved on from a playoff scenario.
DeleteYes, for sure he will. Jeff Gorton mentioned on the sick podcast that they will try and help them make the playoffs, if possible, but they won't deviate from 'The Plan' so anyone that's acquired will be in the 25-28 age bracket.
DeleteCan’t see us snagging anyone that would help us with the plan before trade deadline

ReplyDeleteTrump Blinked.
ReplyDeleteDoug Ford said 'Fuck You' to the Maralago gangster. He is OK in my books I would vote for him in a heart beat. Essentially, he is running against the conman-in-chief in the province of Ontario. The other candidates aren't even in the running.
ReplyDeleteYou know half or more of the things that spew out of the orange rapists mouth are just to bring attention to himself.
ReplyDeleteThere has never been a narcissist like him in the history of our planet.
It’s actually stunning in its scope.
I don’t think it was anything that Justin did so much as his tariffs announcement got him the attention he so craves.
He’ll bring it up again so he can puff himself up once more. What a waste of skin.

ReplyDeleteAs for politics, I am pretty active on Bluesky as scottinmontreal on that topic.
Recipe for murder
Divide the horror
Give the people a scapegoat
And point the finger
As a Canadian, all Trump's 51st state shit makes my stomach churn and my resolve stiffen - to fight to the death to stop him, and make sure my kids and grandkids live in a free Canada. I am so grateful to see our PM and his team navigate us through these difgicult days so deftly.
I love you all, FHFers. I love Canada. I love peace. But "I will not be subjected to criminal abuse."
https://youtu.be/QdH1IUKqS5M?si=Pv6iy1foYjzEtdgx
And making us all sit through the Gazan genocide as if there is nothing anyone can do to stop it is the way to soften us up, get us accustomed and numbed to the daily bloodshed and inhumanity. This is essentially a very sick, very twisted Christofascist International crime syndicate suported by a nihilist broligarchy that seeks total world domination.
DeleteI agree 💯 % with you SiM !
ReplyDelete~~~
Charlie Angus said it best when he called this tariff bullshit a gangster style shakedown. No more no less.
ReplyDeleteTee rump has divided America but he has united us.
Indeed, the M, ban Tesla, Twitter - and Starlink. Ford and Legault both playing with fire. Canadian-made Telesat is where it's at.
DeleteSomebody's got to do it.
ReplyDeleteSo GO CHIEFS!
Pat Ma Home Boy lead me to 3 FF championships so I'll keep the love, even if I dumped him before this past season.
In reality, I give no fucks.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering what it would take to have our own national shipping line? Of course that sets one up for misuse and abuse of the system . Didn't John Crosby run a shipping company?
Yes, use our own satellites (I'm sure Herr Musk will weaponized his rockets to try to take them out).
As far as giving in to the fat orange rapist felon (forf), what we just did is fine because that was already in place. But in 30 days, when the forf demands more, give him a big Fuck You! We will stand together. We will survive. We will be better because of this. So thank you you giant fucking douche.
Isn't CUSMA a legally binding document? Signed by the fat orange fuck himself?
DeleteSue them. For $Trillions$. Even if just for show.
I think the forf chickened out yesterday. I don't think he's got the balls to follow through.

ReplyDeleteBe interesting to see if the fans at the belle centre boo the americant song.

DeleteIn Habs land news, Wool and the Dachtor have been split up, they don't mix. Supposedly Wool will drop down to line 4 with 7Evans and GI Finn, yeesh, I don't know if that will work. I would have put him with Nick and CC to see if they can get him going. Maybe Marty can find the eMpTy blender and mix it all up.
ReplyDeleteI just know I'm not sad for back to back 1130pm starts. Will happily miss these and check out the high (or low) lites in the morning.
DeleteSame here.
Deleteu2 suck. us out here have to rush home to cach your stupid 1630 starts and u cant stay up a bit to watch with us on pacific time?!
DeleteMy spidie senses are starting to tingle when it comes to Wool.

I hope he comes around and it works out for him and for the team. Snipers like that don't grow on trees.
DeleteThat said if it doesn't work out, he was basically a throw in in the Harris for a 2nd trade, so no net loss.
Wool is like Brett Hull, all he does is score. Accept it, he is an exception that you use to your advantage and dont ask him to be something he is not , or never will be.
Deleteand if he's not scoring...
Deletebut to be fair and to be upfront and honest about it, hull never had his skeletons following him to his third team (or did he? i honestly dont remember).

In reality it would be dumb to have Canada as a state bigger than the rest of the country, so there would probably need to be at least 7 new states. NF, Maritima, QC, ON, Prairies, BC, North.
DeleteQC might put up a fight for sovereignty, but in the end there are just too many plentiful resources for Trump to resist (like smoked meat, poutine and strippers).
I think it's time to ignore the orange buffoon. I think he has syphilis which rots the brain.
DeleteGee this might be the first game ever with zero posts.
ReplyDeleteI watched the hi-lites.
They are the Walking Dead.
DeleteI don't know if anyone else has noticed, Monty is good for 3 per game. Even against piss poor teams like the Ducks and Sharks.
DeleteMy first movie crush was probably Raquel in 1,000,000 B.C.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of watching older material, I am having fun watching the TV series 12 O'Clock High which ran from 1964-67.

ReplyDeletegood goals (in general) by the kings, but we all know and doobie must know that he needs to save above whats expected each and every night. not necessary to stand on his head, but at the least, has to play better than the other guy 75m away
ReplyDeletethe popular response is that we have been spoiled by the play of TFS for all those yrs, but is it any different from when joycelain or when St.P played? all those bookmarks (thibault, hacket, huet, moog, fiset, scrivens, toker, jaro, hamburglar, lindgren, jakie, cayden...) surely must have known it was a job requirement.
ReplyDeletedisregard the 6 guys u play behind. its a given u make them look good, and its also on u if they are terrible. those are the rules when u are a goaltender. another rule, especially for this city, either u are a bookmark or u are a legend.
BOO! Send Doobie down and bring back Primo. He is 9-0 with Laval with a 1.96 GAA and .923 Save %.
ReplyDeleteI kid of course.

Opa !
DeleteI see the "I am Canadian!" beer commercial from 2000 making the rounds. I wonder if Molson is considering re-doing that ad considering the current political climate. I think it would be genius. It wouldn't make me purchase their swill, but I enjoy a good commercial.

In not sold on him. If Dach didn't lose a season, their stats aren't that different. I'm afraid it would be changing one underachiever for another. That said I haven't seen him play much so won't judge based solely on stats.

How fast can they skate and all the other stats. Rip town speed is low in Habs flat. The non NHL player HOOk is fast. I trust the trust fund. But as they say on TSN 690 we dont have a single superstar on the team, and superstars have been a prequesite to winning cups for a long time.
ReplyDeleteInteresting thought is that there is no freeze on trading during the 4 nations stupidity
ReplyDeleteWith all the recent action Hugo must be listening and stroking his chin.
I suspect something will transpire sooner than later
Go Canada
Go Habs
I agree. I think he's cooking something up.
DeleteIt may be my favourite sports weekend of the year.
ReplyDeletePhoenix Open.
Habs matinee double header.
Super Bowl.
Making the chili after work. Wings tomorrow (and Sunday).
Broccoli salad to keep my heart happy. Oh wait, it has bacon and cheese in it!
I know there is significant interest in Dylan but Hugo has everything barfalo is asking for.
ReplyDeleteI’ll bet that we are in deep on this one
He’s the right age position and size plus he’s signed for term at less than Suzi.
This all passes the smell test
Would be nice if we didn’t have to give the dachster away after his knees and all
Maybe barfalo would do a straight up Devo for Dylan
Hey maybe never know
Go Canada
Go Habs
It's SB weekend and it's the Habs Playoffs in a weekend. If they win both games they are in with a chance. If they lose either of the games, that's them done for the season. No playoffs and a shitty draft pick...Big boy pants days kids! Try not to fuck this up! Seriously...there is no tomorrow...
ReplyDeleteNew thread soon ...
