I see why he played Monty last night, with 2 tougher games coming up. Dobeš can't play every game, so they gotta play Sam. And hey, he actually made some big saves, even if a couple of the goals may have been stoppable. Because for now he's at best our backup that will play some games (if not platooned as a 1a and 1b), I'll keep my negative thoughts to myself and just say GYMFHG!
Motonbo yu has proved he can do the job. Now he has the yips. 3 goals on six shots, but look at the goals, Hasek could not have stopped them standing on his head. The goal in the third he loses his stick. Sure he is not a goalie that is going to lead us to the Stanley cup, but goalies dont do that any more tandems do. He can still ride a tetertor. Anyway besides losing, DemiDieu looks like baby Jesus who only learned to walk yesterday out playing everyone.
I watched a bit of that leaf/Ute game last night since we play the Wooly Mammoths on Saturday. They remind me of the Habs, with speed and movement. Won't be an easy game. After what also won't be an easy game tonight. I'm hoping this isn't an old school Jersey trap game. Man those were snoozefests.
This season has been the most exciting Habs hockey I can recall in nearly 30 years. Even the Kovalev years we only had glimpses of this. Helps that they're winning I suppose. When Ghoul is back and if they plug the 2C with somebody not named Kadri, it will be a formidable team for sure. For years to come. 2027 CHamps.
I'm guessing our old friend Jake the Snake aka Pomme will put up a big effort tonight to beat his former team, not out of malice but perhaps to say : "You should have let CP30 go on waivers, at least I'm an NHL goalie." I'm not expecting a win tonight but a point would be welcome. Go Habs.
Speaking as someone born in Quebec, living in Quebec since 1988 and one who watches RDS and keeps an eye on séparatiste media snakes, it is pathetic to see them circling their wagons around Monty to protect him because he’s Quebecois and little else.
He did block a hard shot on his ankle, but more to the point, it was tough for MSL to get the match-ups he wanted, not much pp time vs. pk time, I'd say.
Weird game. Doobie should have saved the first one. Habs first goal was 1000% luck. Habs second goal (Evans) was terrible by Markstrom. Devils 2nd goal, Nature and Slaf just standing still while the NJ player scoots between them. Uncharacteristic by the captain. Habs third goal was the product of hard work by Demi and Hook. NJ ties it up with hard work at 6 on 5. Hook would do that last play differently if he had a do over.
Bottom line, Habs are tied with the Devils and Pens at the top of the East. But they must learn to hang onto leads and start winning games in regulation. It will matter in April.
NJ, like Montreal has a lot of talented players with suspect goaltending. They are pretty evenly matched. This was a game with many weird bounces and plays. I actually had a close regulation loss on my bingo card. The loser point was a bonus.
Crave will stream 15 Habs games in French next season. They’ll apparently use the RDS broadcast team, so Pierre Houde and Marc Denis will call the games on Crave.
Tom Hanks, playing the character Jimmy Dugan, said "There's no crying in hockey!" in the 1992 movie A League of Their Own. He says this to a player who begins to cry after a mistake on the field, emphasizing that emotional displays are not allowed in the sport.
I'm a little concerned about the game against the Hairy Elephants, I wouldn't be surprised if they sneak in an steal a win. We are going out tonight so I hope to catch the 3rd period. Go Habs!
Looking at those numbers not much doubt who should be in net tomorrow night.
ReplyDeleteBut, if they play as shitty as they did last night they will get lit up in Joisey.

ReplyDeleteI would have went for the 2 points last night against the weaker opponent with Dobes and took my chances with Montembohno Thursday.

Go Habs
Cash it!
ReplyDeleteWell played, Mercer
DeleteDoobie, brother!
ReplyDeleteWhy is every team in toronto 'Canada's' team?
ReplyDeleteSFU
DeleteI like Joey V. with 7Evans and Horse on a line. Good size and speed all of them. Just need better hands.
ReplyDeleteAnother huge kill. Devils are getting away with shit
ReplyDeletebuttman's favourite team, reputedly.
DeleteA black maple leaf? Not so good. #TeamCanadaJersey
ReplyDelete7vens!
ReplyDelete7$
ReplyDelete7Evans!
ReplyDeleteTime for a shortie, I'm looking at you Hook.
ReplyDeleteYeah, sure, way to go ref.
ReplyDeleteThey got a call from buttman.
DeleteLovin' Struble's overall game/ hating the unnessecary penalties. Kill it, boys!
ReplyDeleteHe might get the AX treatment...
DeleteHappenin'!
ReplyDeleteKap !
ReplyDeleteKappy!
ReplyDeleteKAPS!!
ReplyDeleteFuck
ReplyDeleteGuaranteed point.
ReplyDeleteConsidering the SOG (again) it's a good outcome either way.
Oh well, take the point, it's what I was hoping for at least.
ReplyDeleteTake the point.
ReplyDeleteFuck the refs.
OT beckons.
I can only listen to Mudrake screech for so long. Sound off.
ReplyDeleteDamn. Lucky to get the loser point.
ReplyDeleteOh Hook that's on you.
ReplyDeleteMany mistakes.
ReplyDeleteYup. Gotta learn to lock these games down. Wasted many points.
DeleteIn the NHL of my youth, this team would be 4-3-7 with 15 pts in their first 14 games right now.
ReplyDeleteMissed the game...why only 10 mins for Demi? Injury? Gotta watch the highlights now...
ReplyDeleteHe did block a hard shot on his ankle, but more to the point, it was tough for MSL to get the match-ups he wanted, not much pp time vs. pk time, I'd say.

I'm not paying for Crave so I guess I'll miss those games.
DeleteCrave is cheaper if you have an Apple account.
Deleteonhockey.tv
Deletetsn will carry the games. I just watch with the volume turned down.
DeleteNature, Demi and Math all dealing with sore feet from blocking shots.
ReplyDeleteOuch.
Literally.
Doobie shouldn’t shoulder the loss.
ReplyDeleteTake care of him.

ReplyDeleteDoobie needs some post game gummies.
He'll be fine. Hook should be shouldering any blame but there was none to hand out. Jersey is a good team, no shame in losing to them.
