I am not going to give a flying fuck about this year. Yes making the playoffs would be a nice thing. Howver trading futures for a futial fling into playoff fortune would be not cooking. FOR THE SAKE OF I dont know what any more., maybe hedge Knights'which has a perfect GOT vibe and something with Heath Ledger. Stay the course, dont be the leaf. Thank you for your attention.
That's the hilarity of it all They are scratching their tiny little heads trying to figure out what is wrong It never crosses their small minds that their team is shit and going down the pooper faster than you can say armpit Hilarity running rampant in the 416 Bless all of them those navel gazing swollen no minds Good luck leaf Ha ha not sorry Go Glorious Habs
Did anybody actually see a picture that showed CC's first goal was actually offside? The still they showed last night had 6 players between Caufield's skate and the puck, wherever it was. Alas, he was not going to be denied.
After the game, I watched the end of the curling and thought, oh it's 11, I'll just catch the sportscentre highlites. They spent close to15 minutes circle jerking, hand wringing and discussing how the leafs can get into the playoffs. Then about 30 seconds on the Habs game. I know. I should know better.
Coach Berube pretty much nailed it in his post game comments. "All they want to do is score goals." That's it, nothing more." They don't want to defend. They don't want to play 200 feet. Some, if not most, of the SFU leaf blowers are running up the white flag. Real Kyper and Bourne should be epic this afternoon. Hilarious. I f_cking love it!
3 months late, but better late than never. Promoted the AHL guy, but I wonder if Price (who should officially be retiring when his contract expires) would consider the job. And would he be any good at it? I expect he's not interested, probably preferring to raise his kids out west. It's not like he needs the cash, with that Ford money coming in...on top of the $100m or so he earned in his career. Probably keep the AHL guy who's been with the club for quite a while, depending on how the rest of the season goes. It's a good tryout for him.
You hate to see anyone lose their job but they had to do something. The results weren't there. I said the same thing about Carey a few days ago. He said he's not ready to do the NHL grind again. Ford is paying him on top of his (last year) of salary.
I just came across this dumb thing TSN is doing called 'face of the franchise' where all of the, you know, "Experts" at TSN voted on which player best represents each team. They start off with The Rocket for the Habs. I think that's legit. A case could be made for Beliveau or Lafleur among others, but it's Maurice Richard for sure. They got that one right I think.
Next is their leaf. I'm thinking gotta be Darryl Sittler right? Nope. The face of that franchise is...Wendel Clark.
And I think that sums up the differences between these two franchises without uttering another word.
I saw that but didn't look at any of it. My reason being, who cares what tsn thinks? I would have to think McD would be the face of the Oilers now that wayne the traitor is a maga asshole.
The SFU is in an uproar. I watched Kyper and Bourne on YouTube last night, hilarious how they swing back and forth on a 'retool' or a burn it to the ground 'rebuild'. Same thing with the Overdrive clowns, there was a clip of them discussing that with Pronger. Oh the humanity!
Nationalism is not "all they got," but they don't know what they got when they're wilfully blind and being fed fantasy crap from cynical pols and media moguls egging them on.
At the 4 nations break last year, through 56 games the Habs had 55 points. Through 53 games this year, they have 65 points. I think it's fair to say they've lost 10 points from bad goaltending. And yes, good goaltending perhaps won them 10 points last year. They have 4 more games before the break. 5 of 8 points minimum is needed to increase separation from the wannabees. Like I said, I choose to give money to my friends tonight rather than watch the game, but hopefully they're tired and discombobulated after getting beat by the Sens. And they have to get a regulation win v Buffalo on Saturday. They swept that team 4-0 last season.
Yeah, if they had had decent goaltending they would be contending with the Dolts for 1st overall in the division. Agreed 5 points would be really good, but I think the leaf and the ratfuckers are falling back regardless. Boston and Buffalo are a problem for sure.
I will likely miss the first period at least, going out for dinner tonight with some family.
Montreal has a couple things going for them tonight --- 2nd of b2b obviously for Colorado --- plus, Habs get the backup goalie. Just don't let Brock Nelson score, please. He took Montreal's lunch money last time they played.
Bsky thinks my handle is invalid right now but that's because I changed my scottinmontreal.ca domain from a US-based DNS provider to a Canadian one (whc.ca) and it might take some time for authentification to spill over.

He is nords séparatiste. He baited Dobie with sick péquiste vibes about the fired goalie coach. Tried to make it a two solitudes thing. Dobie responded well. Gag-non will be hugging his Lévesque blankie tonight.
Tried to watch Express when I got home. Fell asleep. Watched the hi-lites this morning. Did not fall asleep! Too many great plays to mention, even though the hi-lite packs they put together now suck. I miss the old 'Habs in 30' recaps.
Very important regulation win with all other teams in the division race picking up 2 as well other than the wings losing in a shootout.
The Buffalo game in my mind is a must win. Need to prove that they can play against a similar style of team.
Unless they can convince Pornstache McUnderpants to go, that sadsack of a team will go nowhere but down. Like him or not, he would bring the best return to start their rebuild. I hope he stays there until he's 40.
I watched Broke Back Mountian and it affected me. I grew up throwing eggs at Gay on CHurch street, before I even know what anal sex was. I will never watCH heated rivarly but take joy in it being a slam dunk Canadian success story with hockey. So if Capt underpants has an extra rear hatch I am not offended. Howver for me its the reverse of transjender males dominating female sport.
Dobes and Monty have a winning% range because they got pulled in some games so can't tell which goalie takes the L in those cases.
Bottom line is if playing in front of Monty gives you a 50/50 chance and you know you might need to score 5 or more goals to have a chance at winning, compared to Dobes where you're getting 3 out of every 4 points from him (over a 10 game stretch, that's 15 of 20 points...like a 7-2-1 record), he is the guy you MUST stick with for now. Dobes gets that save% up to .900 they should win far more than they lose. Stop 27 of 30 and the Habs just need 4. Which they seem to be able to do more often than not. Fowler's numbers are promising and next season has to be a Dobes-Fowler combination (unless Hughes trades one of them when he pries Jesper Wallstedt from the Wild). And imagine the angst on TVA when they dump the only Quebecois goalie in the NHL. Which is crazy...I was reading about that recently. What the hell happened?

Catherine O'Hara always made something worth watching, wgether is was a genius SCTV sketch or a TV series or a silly movie like Argyle, you cpuld always count on her to make a scene pop. So funny, smart, devilish and smile-inducing. What a loss for all of us, (most direly for Seth Rogan's The Studio).
Conversely, regarding Ms. O'Hara's passing and me being the same age...
For many years I was a regular blood donor. I have O negative blood which is considered somewhat rare. When I started taking medication for hypertension they wouldn't let me donate anymore. Some years later I found out that didn't matter anymore. To make a long story short, after watching the local news last night, there was a segment about O negative donors being needed due to people missing appointments because of bad weather. Today, I decided to go to the local Canadian Blood Services clinic and sign up. They welcomed me back with open arms! My point is, you are never too old to be useful in some small way.

Awesome the M. I was a regular donor for many years and had to give it up due to low iron. I ate lots of broccoli and liver and got it under control but just didn't get back in the habit. I'll make that a retirement priority next year.

NB: if the playoffs were starting today, the only two Canadian teams in the running would be the Habs and the Oilers (the former boasting the better record of the two).
Hey look at that, Colorado found tgeir game again, leading the Wings 5-0 with 3 minutes left in the 3rd. Good start to the last day of the coldest January I can recall since Ice Stormy 1998.
This has been a damn cold winter. Even in December. Two weeks ago our heat pump died and I had to run the electric baseboard heaters until last Wednesday when we got it replaced. Minus double digit temps every day. I'm scared what my electric bill will look like. 🥶
Installed a heat pump and electric bills went down 20% Plus A/C baybee It's a can't miss Will have two when the cottage reno/addition is finished Go Glorious Habs
I saw moe's comment above about Chuck Lefley's passing. I remember him, and players like Murray Wilson and Bill Nyrop who were integral parts of the 70's dynasty teams. RIP.
Call me what you will...Im never too far away...I'm kinda sorta following but my feeds are not great tonight ...and it's now kinda late so...Just fucking win boys!
Is it me or are linesmen useless ? Can’t drop a faceoff puck without kicking someone out. Can’t call an offside. Can’t skate. Can’t break up fights. Can’t get out of the way.
I am not going to give a flying fuck about this year. Yes making the playoffs would be a nice thing.

ReplyDeleteEven though his numbers aren't stellar, Dobes is the clear #1.
ReplyDeleteDobes - 17-5-3 GAA 2.96 Save% .890 Winning% (0.740 to .770)
Monty - 9-8-2 GAA 3.46 Save% .868 Winning % (.500 to .526)
Birdman - 4-4-2 GAA 2.62 Save% .902 Winning% (.500)
Dobes and Monty have a winning% range because they got pulled in some games so can't tell which goalie takes the L in those cases.
Bottom line is if playing in front of Monty gives you a 50/50 chance and you know you might need to score 5 or more goals to have a chance at winning, compared to Dobes where you're getting 3 out of every 4 points from him (over a 10 game stretch, that's 15 of 20 points...like a 7-2-1 record), he is the guy you MUST stick with for now. And imagine the angst on TVA when they dump the only Quebecois goalie in the NHL. Which is crazy...I was reading about that recently. What the hell happened?

ReplyDeleteDefinitely a cold one this year. I heat electric. Rates still reasonable in Quebec. Thinking of a heat pump to air condition the entire house.
DeleteHeat pumps are revolutionary (run great at low cost). Strong recommend.
DeleteInstalled a heat pump and electric bills went down 20%

Go Glorious Habs
I saw moe's comment above about Chuck Lefley's passing.
ReplyDeleteI remember him, and players like Murray Wilson and Bill Nyrop who were integral parts of the 70's dynasty teams.
RIP.
tva’s take on the game is you could make money if you bet well.

DeleteDobes has looked sharp tonight.
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad that Montreal always has to play against the refs as well as the other team.
ReplyDeleteRefs happen, to the Habs.
DeleteIs it me or are linesmen useless ?
