I am not going to give a flying fuck about this year. Yes making the playoffs would be a nice thing.
Howver trading futures for a futial fling into playoff fortune would be not cooking.
We have two potential superstars in the wings, let them stew. Do I need to remind you Buttman has them penciled to play in Atlanta. FOR THE SAKE OF I dont know what any more., maybe hedge Knights'which has a perfect GOT vibe and something with Heath Ledger. Stay the course, dont be the leaf. Thank you for your attention.

Alas, he was not going to be denied.

After the game, I watched the end of the curling and thought, oh it's 11, I'll just catch the sportscentre highlites. They spent close to15 minutes circle jerking, hand wringing and discussing how the leafs can get into the playoffs. Then about 30 seconds on the Habs game. I know. I should know better.

    1. 3 months late, but better late than never.
Promoted the AHL guy, but I wonder if Price (who should officially be retiring when his contract expires) would consider the job. And would he be any good at it?
I expect he's not interested, probably preferring to raise his kids out west. It's not like he needs the cash, with that Ford money coming in...on top of the $100m or so he earned in his career.
Probably keep the AHL guy who's been with the club for quite a while, depending on how the rest of the season goes. It's a good tryout for him.

      Delete
    2. You hate to see anyone lose their job but they had to do something.
      The results weren't there.
I said the same thing about Carey a few days ago.
He said he's not ready to do the NHL grind again.
Ford is paying him on top of his (last year) of salary.

  32. I just came across this dumb thing TSN is doing called 'face of the franchise' where all of the, you know, "Experts" at TSN voted on which player best represents each team. They start off with The Rocket for the Habs. I think that's legit. A case could be made for Beliveau or Lafleur among others, but it's Maurice Richard for sure. They got that one right I think.

Next is their leaf. I'm thinking gotta be Darryl Sittler right? Nope. The face of that franchise is...Wendel Clark.

And I think that sums up the differences between these two franchises without uttering another word.

I didn't care enough to watch further.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I saw that but didn't look at any of it. My reason being, who cares what tsn thinks? I would have to think McD would be the face of the Oilers now that wayne the traitor is a maga asshole.

  34. The SFU is in an uproar. I watched Kyper and Bourne on YouTube last night, hilarious how they swing back and forth on a 'retool' or a burn it to the ground 'rebuild'. Same thing with the Overdrive clowns, there was a clip of them discussing that with Pronger. Oh the humanity!

  36. At the 4 nations break last year, through 56 games the Habs had 55 points.
Through 53 games this year, they have 65 points. I think it's fair to say they've lost 10 points from bad goaltending. And yes, good goaltending perhaps won them 10 points last year.
They have 4 more games before the break. 5 of 8 points minimum is needed to increase separation from the wannabees. Like I said, I choose to give money to my friends tonight rather than watch the game, but hopefully they're tired and discombobulated after getting beat by the Sens. And they have to get a regulation win v Buffalo on Saturday. They swept that team 4-0 last season.

    GYMFHG.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yeah, if they had had decent goaltending they would be contending with the Dolts for 1st overall in the division.
Agreed 5 points would be really good, but I think the leaf and the ratfuckers are falling back regardless. Boston and Buffalo are a problem for sure.

I will likely miss the first period at least, going out for dinner tonight with some family.

  70. Even though his numbers aren't stellar, Dobes is the clear #1.

    Dobes - 17-5-3 GAA 2.96 Save% .890 Winning% (0.740 to .770)
    Monty - 9-8-2 GAA 3.46 Save% .868 Winning % (.500 to .526)
    Birdman - 4-4-2 GAA 2.62 Save% .902 Winning% (.500)

Dobes and Monty have a winning% range because they got pulled in some games so can't tell which goalie takes the L in those cases.

Bottom line is if playing in front of Monty gives you a 50/50 chance and you know you might need to score 5 or more goals to have a chance at winning, compared to Dobes where you're getting 3 out of every 4 points from him (over a 10 game stretch, that's 15 of 20 points...like a 7-2-1 record), he is the guy you MUST stick with for now. Dobes gets that save% up to .900 they should win far more than they lose. Stop 27 of 30 and the Habs just need 4. Which they seem to be able to do more often than not.
Fowler's numbers are promising and next season has to be a Dobes-Fowler combination (unless Hughes trades one of them when he pries Jesper Wallstedt from the Wild).
And imagine the angst on TVA when they dump the only Quebecois goalie in the NHL. Which is crazy...I was reading about that recently. What the hell happened?

  82. I saw moe's comment above about Chuck Lefley's passing.
I remember him, and players like Murray Wilson and Bill Nyrop who were integral parts of the 70's dynasty teams.
    RIP.

Is it me or are linesmen useless ?
Can’t drop a faceoff puck without kicking someone out.
    Can’t call an offside.
    Can’t skate.
    Can’t break up fights.
Can’t get out of the way.

    Useless fucks.
