Goodbye Gordie and thanks for enjoy-fully affecting my life with yours.
What more can people do than leave a powerful and positive impact on others. I may have written similar words last year, if I did I'm adding to it today. Losing Gordie, even though I/we knew it was eventual, really hurts. You all know that I love and live music, it has made me who I am here, FHFully, completely. I could look back and find the many penned Hip parodies but I'd rather just thank Gordie for what he meant to me and directly those that I love dearly. I mentioned to my daughter today that we use to do the weekend house cleaning and blast The Hip. She was maybe all of 2 years old. She got the Hip vibe. The tattoo of the capped Gordie is on her as of last year. I saw The Hip at least a dozen times. First time in the late 80s in a small club in Halifax, then the ARAs, the stadiums etc. The one that, maybe obviously, left the biggest impact, was last summer, the last show Gordie and The Hip gave in Ottawa. My daughter took me (after so much effort to get tickets). It will remain the most important concert I've attended. Gordie was spectacular but being there with my girl rips right into my heart and squeezes the emotion out of me. I've read many a great tribute and spent hours listening to Gordie's and his Hip mates music all day. Yeah, I shed some tears. Mainly because as the words and the riffs roll by, the memories creep in. Thanks Gordie.

Well I think that there's a Habs problem here
DGMB's voice just don't sound right
Left myself on his answering maCHine
Said, "I'm back on the blog tonight"
I FHFeel Habs've stepped out of the wilderness
All squint-eyed and confused
But even baby Habs raised by Trev
They know exactly when they've been used
See when it starts to fall apart
Marc, it really falls apart
Like boots or hearts, oh when they start
They really fall apart
Ooo FHFingers and toes, FHFingers and toes
24 things we share
Add one if you include
The FHFact that we don't care
Now you've blocked off most of Ste. Catherine Street
For our FHFaith parade
Well everyone in town now, they probably all agree
You're lying in the bed you made
See when it starts to fall apart
Marc, it really falls apart
Like boots or hearts, oh when they start
They really fall apart, well fall apart (and rebuild)
Well you won't even let me talk to you
We got some FHFucking air to clear
Well we'd probably only agree on one thing anyway
That's what the HELL is happening here?!
Oh, FHFingers and toes, FHFingers and toes
24 things we share
Add one if you include
The FHFact that we don't care
See when it starts to fall apart
Geoff, it really falls apart
Like boots or hearts, oh when they start
They really fall apart, well fall apart
Bonus Breezer lick, 'LET ME OOOOUUUTTT!'
🖤 Go You Fucking Gord Downie Go! 🖤

Tremendous parody moe (makes me want to start checking on the top draft picks for 2018).
ReplyDeleteAnd a truly sad day. Whether a fan of his music or not, Canada has lost a great man.
Did we win?
ReplyDeleteGreat tribute to a great man moe
ReplyDeleteFucking Fantastic Moe....Thanks
ReplyDeleteGreat Tribute Moe, 18 shows wow.
ReplyDeleteIf I am Mr Molson I throw the keys for the tank in the parking lot. Math means we are unlikely to make the playoffs, and this is not a team that is going to luck their way to a cup. Best case
ReplyDeletewe go one round, wippy fucky boy fuck up.
TFS at his Price is not outrageous, he is going to get into a groove for sure but it will not
be enough to win anything.
The Durid is a keeper, the small center we have been waiting for.
Superplexxe and Patches, trade for something anything
because in the playoffs
they are as invisible
as the glass ceiling
which they cant
break through
Its time to tank
like a Sherman
facing three
tigers
blow it up real
good
the window is still
open but this
team needs to have
its core forwards
fly away
2005 the Stones headlined an outdoor concert at Magnetic Hill in Moncton. While they put on a tremendous show, with some great versions of their standards, and good pyro AND opening acts like OLP and Maroon 5 (among others I cant remember) were OK, I was by far most impressed with the set the Hip put on just before Mick, Keith and the guys took the stage. It's a long y time ago now so don't remember it all (it was about 6 hours in to a very long day), I'm pretty sure they opened with Grace, too and finished up their 12 or 14 song set with Little Bones. I could've gone home very happy...the Stones were just gravy.
