  4. Happy Christmas my FHFriends! As with everybody (I hope), it's a quiet one here with just the 3 of us. Video'd in daughter 2 as she spent her first xmas away. But she and her beau just moved into their new house in Gloucester (just east of Ottawa central) last week and have lots to keep themselves busy do that's good.

It seems petty but all I want for Christmas is for the wretched leaf to finish 5th or lower. I'm assuming Habs will be top 3 so don't need to ask for that.

Christmas dinner might interfere with the USA game today but will look forward to the CC hilites.

I wish nothing but good cheer, safe and healthy living, the end to the 2020 nightmare and a bright future to all of you and Habs fans far and wide.

Man, tsn sucks. WTF is the good of blowing that fucking goal horn 16 fucking times? Show some class ffs. There should be a mercy rule anyway, if you're up by ten after two periods shut it down. Why embarrass a bunch of teenage kids like that? Fuck off you toronto shit heads. How you can tell if a team is any good is when they play a superior team. The Giants have a long way to go obviously. Baltimore toyed with them all day. Giants need talented players on offence. Big time.

The extent of some people's greed knows no bounds. So the Pittsburgh Penguins got a $4.82 million COVID loan to pay their rent at the arena yet their billionaire owner had $22 million laying around to buy Neverland? WTF is wrong with this picture? In the meantime people who can't pay their rent are getting kicked out on the street. America is one fucked up country.

Messier lite. Sneaky dirty. Gonna be sheer joy to see him take out one of the vaunted SFU four... maybe even Jumbo!

    ReplyDelete
  14. the Maritimer2:17 PM

OK, so at 35, Corey Perry's best scoring days are behind him. But, he still plays with a mean streak and I like him as a depth player in case of injury which I'm sure there will be plenty in a compressed schedule. This deal is a win. Bonus:

Perry was born on May 16, 1985, in Haileybury, Ontario,[3] the first of two boys born to Geoff and Nancy Perry. He and his brother Adam learned to skate when Corey was two. At age ten, he and his family moved to Peterborough, Ontario. Growing up, his favourite NHL team was the Montreal Canadiens.[4]

    Suck it SFU and leafools.

LB has probably played his last game for the Habs. Character player but Perry and Frolik make him expendable. I can see bergy trading him to Ottawa for a later pick to give a rebuilding Senators team some experience and he is a local boy as well.

    2. Look at the names on the list... "One of these names just doesn't belong here.. One of these names just doesn't belong..." Tough, strong, gritty antagonistic, are what you think about when you look at all the forwards the Habs have signed lately. 56 games to glory doesn't leave any room for pussy floaters. That game gets found out in a heartbeat. You play the same team 3 nights in a row in the same barn, floaters spend the games doing just that. Or they take BS hooking penalties. The grinders will get lots of ice time and will be the difference. If the job is to WIN NOW, BBB has built a pretty good team to do that.

They made fun of poor folks in RV campgrounds in the Gaspé, a la Trailer Park Boys, and further research allows me to get the reference to a TV series I'd never encountered. NHL hockey is just around the corner. The SFU aka tsn and snet leaf PR machines will be churning full force the next two weeks. That's why it's so delicious when they ultimately fail. Speaking of failure, I read that the putrid leaf will tie the New York Rangers for Stanley Cup futility this Spring err, Summer I guess, when they hit the 54 year mark of not winning. The Rags run was 1940-1994, the laughable leaf should easily surpass that feat.

I watched the Canada/USA match this morning, Team Canada has nothing to be ashamed about, the Americans played a perfect road game, their defensive play and goaltending were outstanding. They got two breaks (a deflection and a timely rebound) while the Canadians got zip. That's the way it goes sometimes, as we have all witnessed many times I'm sure. OK then, on to the NHL and our Habs, may they win many games against the wretched, putrid, hated leaf.

    ReplyDelete
  41. we seldom see i2i, but yep. spot on big M. nothing to be ashamed about. i thought the match was even. the only difference being the yanks more leathal finishing their chances than our boys were. if you wanna count quality scoring chances though... i think we outdid them 8-3?

my two biggest take aways is poise underpressure/in close. those two clear-cut chances when the D jumped in and took those shots is the difference between good teams and teams with high end talent. i know they are defensemen, but imagine somebody with hands like paul coffee bearing down on goal like that. sometimes, he'de shoot, other times, he would look for a killer cross crease pass, other times, he would make a fantastic move around the keeper. in the modern NHL, no D-man comes to mind who can do that and with those two plays the keeper knows its gonna be a shot so his guess work is reduced by 2/3. makes his job a whole lot easier and the posts a whole lot bigger.

funny stat when i was watching:
each time they play the americans for the gold at home, they lose. 3 straight times now incld yd.
