Regarding comments from the Mayor of Montreal and the Premier of Quebec, if I was Geoff Molson I would fire bergevin and ducharme and hire John Davidson, John Tortarella and Rick Tocchett to run and coach the Montreal Canadiens. That would be more fun to watch than the actual games!
Chester added something at the end of the last post too. It's rather disingenuous of the press to bring this up, and for the pols to weigh in. Too many of my fellow Québecois(e) are stuck in the past when imagining their cultural place in the world, and our Canadiens become a litmus test of just how bad that is. We all reminisce about the flying frenchmen, sure, but that was another era, when 7 million Ontarians lived next to 6 million here in La Belle Province. That was a 16-18 team league, with scant Europeans or Americans competing for spots in the top echelon of the sport. Now we have roughly 60 Quebec-born players good enough to make it in a 31-team league. Guess what? BERGY DID HIS PART to sign, draft, entice home-boys to wear the bleu-blanc-rouge. Ouellette, Drouin, Danault, Belzile are on pro contracts and they have been given a shot to represent. We want to win too, and if tge average number of NHLers on a given team is two, then we are over-represented as it is. Legault should ferme sa gueuelle.
As one of the few that has extensive experience being Francophone in Québec and Ontario, fighting séparatism along the way and of course being as diehard a Habs fan as one can be, I agree that Legault and Plante need to pipe down with their franco player rhetoric. Legault is a nasty pure laine wolf in sheep's clothing. It saddens me how he remains popular. Speaks to a percentage of the population's mindset.
As for the number of French members of the CH, the more the better, if they can own, manage, coach and play. The pickings for NHL qualified Quebecois players are slim. I'm OK with where the team is at. Look, another signing today of RHP (early nickname is RHCP). Habs have also beefed up their local scouting and their newly-affiliated ECHL in Trois Rivières is a nice boost.
Do you know who speaks very good French? Bobby Smith.
wow. really? big BS speaks french? ahahhaha... didnt know that. hes exactly the type of player this team needs for this match-up vs the leaves. is there anybody in the line-up who can do the dirty like he can/did? is horsepower his equivalent?
did any of you also know LB speaks franch also? pretty anglo-style, but still, very impressive and conversant.
Mucho respect, moeman. You know, we should go back to a home-boy first-pick system in drafting, now that most regions have pretty well developed hockey programs. And Bobby Smith would be a great guy to lead les Glorieux.
LB is an Ottawan as I recall, and most people grow up quite bilingually there. He may even be franco-Ontarian. There are many.
It's a 10 pm game and I am here bitches! The team looks to be half rocket, half Habs but who gives a fuck. Let the kids play. Resting Dish is a good move too!
I expect a very meh game but it's raining here so will probably tune in.
And you know I've always been of the thinking that in sports there are only 2 teams at the end. The winners and everybody else. Doesn't matter if you finish dead last, crawl into the playoffs or are prematurely crowned champions. If you finish 2nd or lower you are all the same non-winners. So anything but winning the cup is a failure. But this year only, I will change my POV and say beating the leaf would be equally satisfying, just for the shear amount of pain it would cause in the CotU.
So I give no fucks about tonight but next week, GoyoumuthafuckinhabsGo!!!
Not a bad period I suppose...But fuck me...how many times did the Hbas have the puck in their own end and fail to get it past centre ice...if even over the Blue Line...That shit is going to kill them in the one playoff round they get...
And I know it's half an AHL squad out there but you could easily swith up the guys failing to get it out to include BBQ, Danault, Petry...etc. They have had a nightmare getting out of their own end all season long
I will tell you one alledegd thing. I have been watching center ice for two years, and it is never golden streams, the replays and all not golden, tonite NHL Center ICE is the only place Trump wants to be.
Steveo - you need to get onto Onhockey.TV Best feeds anywhere and mostly NHL.com feeds - comes via Eastern Europe butit's a great streamer - no commercials either!
That was a pretty bad bunch of shifts right there...except for the very end with CC...let's hope thius is the last game that Merril ever plays as a Hab...he's fucking shocking!

Montreal dressed five players under the age of 22 (Romanov, KK, Caufield, Suzuki, Ylonen) who were drafted in the top 40 for the first time since 1988. Those five? Richer, Corson, Svodoba, Charbonneau and Sergio Momesso.

I remember Claude Provost. Yep, he drove Bobby Hull nuts.
Funny, Don Marcotte with the B's used to follow Lafleur right to the Habs bench, the old Crotch once said "Donny you might as well sit next to him there." HA!
Or Carbo on Gretzky in '93. Or Koivu out-captaining the young Bruins captain Thornton. They should bring in Saku just to stand behind the bench with his arms crossed to stare him down and psyche him out all over again.
UK3X on hockey was my go to forever, golden streams like a Trump visit. Over here they got a nasty set of ad pop ups/redirects that I could not easily kill. So I went back at it on edge instead of chrome, because I do not want extensions on my chrome as you know they all developed in Virginia. this one worked and I am not able to On Hockey whenever needed. https://www.totaladblock.com/ Sweet Link to pump you up!! https://youtu.be/b3vFEWptHkE In other news Go CAPS GO, Lucky CHarms says put a steak on the Weber, BBQ is back. Seth Jones sure to sign with the leafs at home town discount. Drouid will only play in Stonehenge, with covid protocals this seems impractical. La Presse says the Habs could win by changing their name to Nordiques or playin Cole Cournoyer. Now that the Premier, Mayor, and all the leaders have chimed in I have a solution. Its very simple supply and demand problem. We have French women hockey players, we have French men hockey players who are elite and often generational. The problem is they come by one every decade or so. Quebec needs to CHange the math. Yes collect eggs and sperm and hatch hockey players in batches with parotic women acting as suragget mothers. They will all be personally raised at the Bell center and will never be allowed to have their feet touch the floor without skates.
OK tje :Leaf are under some kind of presser coooker that will affect the time on ice/ Stop the clock how adanvrd are those stats are they predictive like Hara Selson or do the come from the biggest shadpqw ever/
I'm watching Florida vs Tampa, two ex-Sea Dogs in this series. Jonathan Huberdeau with Fla and Mathieu Joseph with TB, two players I'm sure Quebec politicians and media wish were with the Habs. The guy I'd like to see in Montreal is Sergachev, what a loss that was. Right up there with Chelios for Savard, another mistake trying to up the pure laine quantity.
I watched some of that Fla/TB game. Fast and hard hitting, tough to imagine our Habs matching up with either of those teams, not to mention mosst of the American teams from what I've seen.
But I'm going with the mantra "It's the playoffs and anything can happen."
Just find some way to beat the effin leaf and queue one of my favourite Metallica songs "Nothing Else Matters" and I'll be happy for this year. Any other year though, anything shorty of hoisting the cup is a failure.
On its own merit I don't disagree with the suspension. It's the inconsistency and the fact that this group could actually end up swaying a series one way or another based on their biases is what is really f'd up.
I watched the first two periods of the Fla/TB game as well, yeah, they are effin good. And well coached. I don't think any Canadian team matches up to those two or Vegas.
The leaf might win their division but that will be it. As Chester said, they are losers and have been since 1967 and will continue to be.
I haven't heard about it, but if I'm in a fantasy playoff draft, I'm taking Nate MacKinnon first overall. No question.
ThoseStupidNitwits as we all know, are just giant fanboys. Paid to praise the leaf and in turn Rogers, mental monkey spankings abound and they don't care who's watching.
CC KK out stAAl meRRiLL peRRy in. Some Double D witchcraft going on here. Doesn't explain the missing Czar. That's the biggest ? for me in all this. MB was hoping for the "A Cry in the Dark" Streep but in reality he's a "The House of the Spirits" Streep instead. That and whole yes KK hasn't been good, but he hasn't been terrible like AA. There was a time when he may have been the Energizer brand of battery, but he's now no-name. Maybe DD feels it necessary to play Staal and Perry (who deserves it) to match up with Thornton and Spazza.
But whatever team is iced on Thursday night I'll be there to cheer them on.
If that's really what he's doing. I hope this is all a ruse to get the mediots excited and the Leaf flat-footed, but I kinda doubt it. Staal has no business being in the line-up, looking at his play compared with KK. And I'd say the same comparing Streep and Czar. Let's hope the vets carry this Jean Perron retread Ducharme all the way.
I wanna Turn back time, is DGMB listing to to much Tina Turner? We will see on Thursday. In history, these times you bring historical artifacts to the battlefield, the artifacts lose.
Proud to announce that I am now fully vaccinated. Had my 2nd jab this morning. Unlike last time, I shall lay off the booze today and hope I feel as good tomorrow as I do right now.
Good stuff, UK3K. The Quebec govt announced our vaccination campaign is going so gangbusters (ça passe comme les gangbustères, I think he said) they're allowing 12% capacity at the Phone Booth, as of May 28th. Should incentivize our boys to at least make it to Game 6, which fall on that date.)
I am not ready for the rumble. All facts all logic seems to have been sacrificed in a dumpster fire. Go older go slower with old slow guys who are not the same Vintage as the Commodore. This organization that brought in all the animals a few playoffs ago is betting the farm on animals against humans again.

The Bluke line Richardson effect.
DeleteA beautiful Big Bird sighting at the intermission.
ReplyDeleteOne of MB's biggest mistakes is not adding that man to the management team in some capacity.
The other is saying No thanks to Jagr.

Or Carbo on Gretzky in '93. Or Koivu out-captaining the young Bruins captain Thornton. They should bring in Saku just to stand behind the bench with his arms crossed to stare him down and psyche him out all over again.
DeleteUK3X on hockey was my go to forever, golden streams like a Trump visit. Over here they got a nasty set of ad pop ups/redirects that I could not easily kill. So I went back at it on edge instead of chrome, because I do not want extensions on my chrome as you know they all developed in Virginia.
ReplyDeletethis one worked and I am not able to On Hockey whenever needed. https://www.totaladblock.com/
Sweet Link to pump you up!! https://youtu.be/b3vFEWptHkE
In other news Go CAPS GO, Lucky CHarms says put a steak on the Weber, BBQ is back.
OK tje :Leaf are under some kind of presser coooker that will affect the time on ice/
ReplyDeleteStop the clock how adanvrd are those stats
are they predictive like Hara Selson or do the come from the biggest shadpqw ever/
ReplyDeleteA la demande générale #RDS ajoute le match de ce soir a sa grille horaire #Marlies vs #Rocket 19:00 avec deux petits nouveaux
ReplyDeleteNo 30 Carey Price
No 17 Brendan Gallagher
I saw a tweet earlier about this...Pretty fucking cool! Wonder if I can find a stream for it...
DeleteI got my OnHockey.TV stream lined up and ready go! KidA playing with RHP and Weal...should be an interesting game.
DeleteGotta love those Russkie streams. An ex-President sure did. Hee Hee.
DeleteI think it was John Lu that nicknamed RHP 'Lavalagher'.
DeleteKidA was/is his idol.
I watched some of that Fla/TB game. Fast and hard hitting, tough to imagine our Habs matching up with either of those teams, not to mention mosst of the American teams from what I've seen.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm going with the mantra "It's the playoffs and anything can happen."
Just find some way to beat the effin leaf and queue one of my favourite Metallica songs "Nothing Else Matters" and I'll be happy for this year. Any other year though, anything shorty of hoisting the cup is a failure.
Good hockey BUT Panther's player is suspended.
DeleteDOPS is fucked up.
On its own merit I don't disagree with the suspension. It's the inconsistency and the fact that this group could actually end up swaying a series one way or another based on their biases is what is really f'd up.
DeleteTrying out a new avatar for tonight...
ReplyDeleteLike it !
DeleteBiased tsn 'panel' all chose their leaf.
ReplyDeleteLots of pressure on those fucks to win. I like it.
DeleteI watched the first two periods of the Fla/TB game as well, yeah, they are effin good. And well coached. I don't think any Canadian team matches up to those two or Vegas.
ReplyDeleteThe leaf might win their division but that will be it. As Chester said, they are losers and have been since 1967 and will continue to be.
Narcos goes 1st overall in the tsn fantasy draft. Ha Ha, that is so on brand for TheStupidNetwork.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard about it, but if I'm in a fantasy playoff draft, I'm taking Nate MacKinnon first overall. No question.
DeleteThoseStupidNitwits as we all know, are just giant fanboys. Paid to praise the leaf and in turn Rogers, mental monkey spankings abound and they don't care who's watching.
Merrill in. Romanov out 🤦♂️
ReplyDeleteKK and whisky also sitting game 1
ReplyDeleteI guess were going to match the Leafs speed with Staal and Perry
ReplyDeleteIt's official, DD is just another version of Chokula, eMpTy and Jabba. Youth will never be served in Montreal. They deserve to lose.
ReplyDeleteMaybe somebody should dig up some video of the 1986 team that won with 8 or 9 rookies dressed IN THE FINALS.
ReplyDeleteBut whatever team is iced on Thursday night I'll be there to cheer them on.
Do GYMF(old/slow)HG
Got no problem with Perry.
DeleteGot a big problem with Dinosaur Ducharme. He's full of shit.
Fucking sucks.
DeleteIf that's really what he's doing.
DeleteThe River Wild Streep is what we need
DeleteI wanna Turn back time, is DGMB listing to to much Tina Turner? We will see on Thursday. In history, these times you bring historical artifacts to the battlefield, the artifacts lose.
ReplyDeleteRIP Gilles Lupien. Fuck cancer!
ReplyDeleteRemember having his Habs hockey card in late 70s maybe. Don't recall a lot of him playing but RIP.
DeleteF Cancer.
RIP Gilles 'Lulu' Lupien. I remember him, big, tall rangy dman who could drop the gloves if needed. I think he was an agent of late.
DeleteA great Hab. Rest In Peace.
DeleteRIP Charles Grodin. Fuck cancer × 2!!
ReplyDeleteHis cameo in So I Married an Axe Murderer was particularly sublime.
He had great comedic timing in everything I recall him in.
DeleteIndeed F Cancer x 2.
RIP
Damn. Loved his style of smart, well-timed comedy. Rest In Peace
DeleteRIP Gilles. And I am done commenting on whonis playing and who is not. I am not a hockey coach. So WTF do I know. Just fucking win.
ReplyDeleteProud to announce that I am now fully vaccinated. Had my 2nd jab this morning. Unlike last time, I shall lay off the booze today and hope I feel as good tomorrow as I do right now.
ReplyDeleteGood stuff, UK3K. The Quebec govt announced our vaccination campaign is going so gangbusters (ça passe comme les gangbustères, I think he said) they're allowing 12% capacity at the Phone Booth, as of May 28th. Should incentivize our boys to at least make it to Game 6, which fall on that date.)
DeleteGolf clap for UK3X. Bravo.
DeleteWell done.
DeleteDaughter and BF, both 30, just got Pfizered in Montreal.
Good for them. They need to tell everyone about how simple it is...the sooner the better too! Bravo!
DeleteLike you should pull of a big band heist with unvaccinated guards.
Deleteits wednesday and i am ~26th hrs away. cant wait.
ReplyDelete(sorry moe. not trying to put too much pressure on you)
I am not ready for the rumble. All facts all logic seems to have been sacrificed in a dumpster fire.
ReplyDeleteGo older go slower with old slow guys who are not the same Vintage as the Commodore. This organization that brought in all the animals a few playoffs ago is betting the farm on animals against humans again.
Jets take Game 1
ReplyDeleteBrother moe is toying with us...
ReplyDeleteNot really.
