Regarding comments from the Mayor of Montreal and the Premier of Quebec, if I was Geoff Molson I would fire bergevin and ducharme and hire John Davidson, John Tortarella and Rick Tocchett to run and coach the Montreal Canadiens. That would be more fun to watch than the actual games!

    1. Chester added something at the end of the last post too. It's rather disingenuous of the press to bring this up, and for the pols to weigh in. Too many of my fellow Québecois(e) are stuck in the past when imagining their cultural place in the world, and our Canadiens become a litmus test of just how bad that is. We all reminisce about the flying frenchmen, sure, but that was another era, when 7 million Ontarians lived next to 6 million here in La Belle Province. That was a 16-18 team league, with scant Europeans or Americans competing for spots in the top echelon of the sport. Now we have roughly 60 Quebec-born players good enough to make it in a 31-team league. Guess what? BERGY DID HIS PART to sign, draft, entice home-boys to wear the bleu-blanc-rouge. Ouellette, Drouin, Danault, Belzile are on pro contracts and they have been given a shot to represent. We want to win too, and if tge average number of NHLers on a given team is two, then we are over-represented as it is. Legault should ferme sa gueuelle.

    2. I agree with Chester et la gang.

As one of the few that has extensive experience being Francophone in Québec and Ontario, fighting séparatism along the way and of course being as diehard a Habs fan as one can be, I agree that Legault and Plante need to pipe down with their franco player rhetoric. Legault is a nasty pure laine wolf in sheep's clothing. It saddens me how he remains popular. Speaks to a percentage of the population's mindset.

As for the number of French members of the CH, the more the better, if they can own, manage, coach and play. The pickings for NHL qualified Quebecois players are slim. I'm OK with where the team is at. Look, another signing today of RHP (early nickname is RHCP). Habs have also beefed up their local scouting and their newly-affiliated ECHL in Trois Rivières is a nice boost.

Do you know who speaks very good French? Bobby Smith.

      Delete
    3. wow. really? big BS speaks french? ahahhaha... didnt know that. hes exactly the type of player this team needs for this match-up vs the leaves. is there anybody in the line-up who can do the dirty like he can/did? is horsepower his equivalent?

did any of you also know LB speaks franch also? pretty anglo-style, but still, very impressive and conversant.

      Delete
    4. Mucho respect, moeman. You know, we should go back to a home-boy first-pick system in drafting, now that most regions have pretty well developed hockey programs. And Bobby Smith would be a great guy to lead les Glorieux.

LB is an Ottawan as I recall, and most people grow up quite bilingually there. He may even be franco-Ontarian. There are many.

    3. It's a 10 pm game and I am here bitches! The team looks to be half rocket, half Habs but who gives a fuck. Let the kids play. Resting Dish is a good move too!

  3. I expect a very meh game but it's raining here so will probably tune in.

And you know I've always been of the thinking that in sports there are only 2 teams at the end. The winners and everybody else. Doesn't matter if you finish dead last, crawl into the playoffs or are prematurely crowned champions. If you finish 2nd or lower you are all the same non-winners. So anything but winning the cup is a failure. But this year only, I will change my POV and say beating the leaf would be equally satisfying, just for the shear amount of pain it would cause in the CotU.

So I give no fucks about tonight but next week, GoyoumuthafuckinhabsGo!!!

Nice to see Brendan Gallagher step up and defend the Habs on the non-francophone player turmoil started by two stupid politicians. Brendan gets it. So did Mike Cammallari, who was treated horribly by a francophone GM for daring to speak the truth. If you recall, MC dared to say the team had a losing mentality, which they did at the time. Gallagher is the heart and soul of the Montreal Canadiens whether the pure lainers like it or not. Maybe somebody could ask Premier Legault and Mayor Plante how Jonathan Drouin is doing these days?

Its very simple supply and demand problem. We have French women hockey players, we have French men hockey players who are elite and often generational. Got no problem with Perry.

Got a big problem with Dinosaur Ducharme. He's full of shit.

    2. Fucking sucks.

    3. If that's really what he's doing. I hope this is all a ruse to get the mediots excited and the Leaf flat-footed, but I kinda doubt it. Staal has no business being in the line-up, looking at his play compared with KK. And I'd say the same comparing Streep and Czar. Let's hope the vets carry this Jean Perron retread Ducharme all the way.

  69. I wanna Turn back time, is DGMB listing to to much Tina Turner? We will see on Thursday. In history, these times you bring historical artifacts to the battlefield, the artifacts lose.

RIP Gilles 'Lulu' Lupien. I remember him, big, tall rangy dman who could drop the gloves if needed. I think he was an agent of late.

  73. Proud to announce that I am now fully vaccinated. Had my 2nd jab this morning. Unlike last time, I shall lay off the booze today and hope I feel as good tomorrow as I do right now.

    1. Good stuff, UK3K. The Quebec govt announced our vaccination campaign is going so gangbusters (ça passe comme les gangbustères, I think he said) they're allowing 12% capacity at the Phone Booth, as of May 28th. Should incentivize our boys to at least make it to Game 6, which fall on that date.)

  75. I am not ready for the rumble. All facts all logic seems to have been sacrificed in a dumpster fire.
Go older go slower with old slow guys who are not the same Vintage as the Commodore. This organization that brought in all the animals a few playoffs ago is betting the farm on animals against humans again.
