  1. The suck comes to everyone who lives long enough. Our suck is compounded by the leaf success.
I want to see the leaf go out in the first round, but if they won the Cup I would be Meh.

Toronto went through 5 years of suck to get here. That should be our perspective.
There are 32 teams, to win the Cup is like the Squid Game where only fast twiching muscular people played.

The Avs will be pissed off after getting trounced last night by the putrid leaf. A good beating by the Colorado tonight should convince Gort to pull the trigger. I don't want Montreal necessarily to win but I want to see the youngsters get development time.

I see Chariot of Fire has scored his 5th goal, he could be worth a 1st round pick. I would sell early.

    1. One week, the boss signs you to a huge multi-million dollar contract. Next thing you know, he's canned. Probably Nature is feeling too much like total shit (undeserved) cuz responsibility is his middle name.

I watched the Avalanche PP because I was curious to see what one actually looked like. They didn't score but spent about 1:30 in Montreal's end. Interesting.

Jake Allen playing really well. I'd definitely keep him around.

    Ho hum another L.

Please Mr. Gorton, get rid of that stupid coach and for the love of God send CC to Laval to get his game back.

  16. Who is out right now?

LB, TFS, Hoffman, Munster, Lep, Powerhorse, Niku, (Niku, becau-au-ause Niku -- any Peter Gabriel fans here?)

However, it was another loss to a team on the second half of a back-to-back while our guys were rested snd had opportunities for extra practice with a light schedule.

They are trying - really trying - but goddamn this is hard coach to get fired. I can't wait either.

    1. Now confirmed: Powerhorse out 2 to 4 weeks. Both Niku and Lep positive for COVID-19 and in quarantine two weeks.

  17. Starting to think Druid's leave of absence last winter was the canary in the coal mine. Bergy must've created a toxic, cheerless environment.

    Or WE did...

The former Nordiques won tonight so RDS would be happy, right?

    1. Heh, I had that thought too. Scary.
Also there's the Geoff and Jeff Show. Anybody watch Chuck when it was on, a couple characters had a band called Jeffster. Twas good stuff.

And I'm a Big Time fan of Peter Gabriel. Actually recently re-watched Denzel's portrayal of Stephen Biko in Cry Freedom.

The wind will blow it higher
      Oh Biko

  20. So Powerhorse out. Good thing they called up Dolph Lundgren yesterday.
The corps is getting thin. I'd love to be inside Gorton's mind watching that game and hearing this news. I wonder if there's a WTF did I just do thought or two in there?

Somebody put up a pic on Twitter last night showing Jeff with his eyes closed at the game last night with the caption: Maybe if I sneak out they won't even notice I've been here...

    2. It's gonna get worse before 8t gets better too. Gorton is angling to keep the Duche all season long. It was mentioned recently that three of the wins against the Kuh-niggets in the Conference Final came with Luke behind the bench. So even Ducharme's playoff coachong record was barely a winning one: 10 W, 9 L by my count.

  21. Dish with a UBI, possibly all in his head, but whatever it is, it's made him terrible this year. Last night was particularly bad.

Anyway they've called up some guy you've never heard of who I'm sure will get into the lineup and /or see more icetime than Norlinder.

As fans, we have a long road ahead of us. Like SiM said, it will get worse before it gets better, many disheartening losses but, there will be a reward of some kind down the road.

I read an article yesterday where Scotty Bowman, who knows the Habs culture as well as anyone, said their own history weighs them down. This is true, as the Boomer generation had really high expectations every single year. Maybe when we are all gone, the reality of a 32 team league and a hard salary cap will change the way newer Habs fans feel. They will probably accept "just make the playoffs" as the new norm.

  23. We are all now victims of the imperials empire
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hiroo_Onoda
Just like Hiroo Onoda we kept fighting when the battle had been over for decades.
I like FlasCH Gorton. He looks like an adult in a organization that has been run by children forever.
Based upon his presser I would say, the top line is Patrick, no not St but Brisson. Second is DarCHe Vader. Biere and all the other usual suspects are not in consideration.

Flash Gorton stated his teams are fast and skilled. Did not mention CHaracter. The Habs are going to put out the word and bring back Mats Naslund, Oleg Petrov, Gio, the Mexican't and Saku.

Some of these 'sports' journalists only care about language? How about some actual hockey questions instead?

One of my golf buddies, an Acadien originally from Edmunston, NB, stopped by today when I was out in the garage. He's my age and a Habs fan and we were discussing what's going on, long story short, he said he didn't give a crap if the coach could speak French, he wants a winning team. I thanked him.
