Copied this from another site because it rang so true. Another older guy like myself that does not pay attention to the advanced stats, not that they don't have their place, but I am old school and go by what my eyes tell me. So:
"All I know is that Dadonov is a total slacker, Drouin is a headcase, Armia is an enigma and Hoffman is a one trick pony."
Two of them are gone for sure at the end of the season, hopefully sooner.
D&D are in contract years. They are gone whether or not somebody takes a flyer on them at the deadline. Hoffman has 1 more year. Somebody looking for somebody who is apparently supposed to be some great goal scorer will take a chance on him at the deadline. Armia two more years at 3.4. I think they need to take a contract back to offset him. Or buy him out in the off season.
Unless there is a 1st coming back I'd hang onto Josh Anderson even though he hasn't hit his potential. He 'in theory's should be the perfect fit with Nicole.
As I've mentioned I don't watch the SFU but still have tsn channels. My handicapped brother from Cambridge has been here for 10 days and he loves his leaf (brainwashed), so I put the sports hilites show on for him (but not the game). They way they call a leaf goal is fucking weird.
They said the Habs schedule was going to be tough the rest of the season. It's turning out to be true. I'm not sure what's going on with Nature he seems off. CC has cooled off. The Four Horsemen listed above offer nothing. It's going to be a long road from here on out. I just hope the payoff this June will be worth it.
I failed to mention this is the best post we've had in some time. Well done Mr moe.
This game? Well I'd say as expected but still a bit disappointing for the reasons M mentioned with Nature and CC slowing down Mind you, carrying Joel Anchoria on their line can't help.
And the PP. By far the worst in the league. Yet they continue with the same personnel and that same dumb backpass EVERY FUCKING TIME, which fools nobody and they fail zone entry far more than not with the play.
I guess it's just tankety tank time without question. Starting to remind me of the obvious leaf tank season when they got underpants.
The experimenting trying to get the 4 Stiffs going has pretty much failed. Put the #1 trio back together, keep the 4th line intact Evans, Richard, Pez, and let the middle 6 figure it out. If Monahan can get back in the lineup put him with Anderson and Slaf, but, Slaf really needs to be somewhere else, either Laval or back to Finland. I don't think he is developing anymore, he might be regressing if anything. I don't want another KK.
He is learning and showing progress in his positioning, check evasion and check throwing. Needs higher-skilled and motivated linemates for scoring to improve. A Laval stint might be good for him.
Thought I would check out the WJC game in Halifax during the Habs intermission and the ads on the boards at ScotiaBank Center or lack of caught my eye. They are: Tissot, IIHF, CHL, Province of NB, Province of NS, City of Moncton, City of Halifax, Hockey NB and Hockey NS. I would say that Hockey Canada has some work to do to get sponsors back. I actually doubt they will. The stench around Hockey Canada is going to linger for some time. Meanwhile, this tournament should have been played elsewhere, preferably in Europe but I'm guessing the Ukraine conflict nixed that idea. I know people are excited about Bedard and others but I just can't get into it.
Back to the Habbies and Tabbys, I think they at least have a chance tonight. They didn't have a prayer last night against the powerhouse Dolts.
This team is becoming not much fun to watch again. I liked having Lep's grit back, but Nature and Whiskey have not been bringing it lately and the whole team is wilting noticeably.
SiM got it right, they are not fun to watch anymore. Once Nature and Whiskey get shut down that's pretty much it. Monahan might help but still...
The four (now five) rookie D are getting exposed. So much praise was lavished on them at the start of the season, and rightfully so, but the really good teams are going to light them up. I don't know if that is good or bad.
I'm going to take some flak for this but I'm not sold on Juraj. He should not be in the NHL. I know Hughes said they were looking for the best player 4 or 5 years from now but I don't think it will be him. He looks lost and confused too often. Can't cycle down low. He's not particularly fast. He's big. That's it. I still think Wright was the pick. I would have given Wright 9 games then sent him back to Kingston who would have traded his rights to a contender in the OHL.
Whomever the Habs pick in 2023, this project is going to take a while to get off the ground. And, I have a feeling I'm going to be turning the tv off early frequently from here on out. I bailed at 5-2 last night.
Nope. I agree with you about Slaf. Wright or even Cooley at centre were probably the right pick. And if Slaf was the choice he should've been sent back to Finland or wherever he played last year.
Hopefully they figure out what's best for him before he turns into a gCHuk or KK.
Slaf is slipping. However we have had lots of 1st overall picks recover and become superstars, just a couple of years ago this Lafluer kid. It took him 3 years to sort it out. Que hockey and the rags in particular have a pure wool dumpster fire in the big Apple. Maybe they would take HADD line from us in return. Dont forget Druid is a master on the blue line in the PP. I see that Florida lottery ticket skating away.
It will be difficult to watch moving forward. The first blush has worn off for Marty Nature and CC. I agree that the D is going to be exposed for what it is, rookie D younglings. It's sad that the veteran aren't showing up. It's a bit much to expect Nature to pick up this franchise by the bootstraps and carry it. So where the fuck is Druid, Anchorie and the rest of the HADD line. At least try to lead FFS. You're spose to be the vets, show how it's done. I'm not down on the team or the younglings but there has to be some fire some lessons some learning because I think it's going to be a tough slog from here on. Go Habs Go Canada
Former Pope Benedict XVI finally kicked the bucket. Last of the old guard, Brownshirt popes. At least he was smart enough to read the wtiting on the wall and resign when he did. Not much else to say nice about him. Millions of victims, from minorities to sodomized choir boys to residential schools survivors are shedding no tears.
RIP Babara Walters, who was one of the toughest interviewers broadcast journalism has ever known. If she were a tree, it'd be a tall oak that provided hope to women in a male-dominated field the world over.
Came across Hondacivic as a nick for Johnathan Kovacevic, we already have a Suzki, why not a Honda. HUGO or half of Hugo is not passing the draft sniff test in the big Apple. Rats on mainstreet, bedbugs up town.

Yeah, let the unloading begin, except with the leaf.

Well said. The guy is a smarmy fuck.

ReplyDeleteMust take some extreme patience on your part! Nice spread, moeman.
DeleteI just caught a bit of the Canada-Germany game. Roy looking good.
Oof, it's gonna be a long night for Jake the Snake. 5 rookie D, eh?
ReplyDeleteThe utter uselessness of Jonathan Druin is remarkable for its utter utterness.
ReplyDeleteAnd then there is Joel Armia.
DeleteSo true.

Except tomorrow. Gotta slay these Panthers and improve our chances at a higher pick.
DeleteMissed the game... Agree that dad and army should go... Druid never shd have come in the first place. Return for the Habs is a 3rd rounder at best...

ReplyDeleteLep back in the lineup tonight. Daddynot too, with Pez and Richard out. I guess the same 6 on D.
ReplyDeleteWifi!
ReplyDeletePowerhorse!
ReplyDeleteLooks like WiFi has found his inner Vodka tonight. Ruling that PP and the Powerhorse closing it Down. JKHFFB!

Slaf's hockey IQ questionable.
ReplyDeletePP 2/2 PK 0/3 it never rains but it pours.
ReplyDeleteRIP Ian Tyson
ReplyDeleteWell I recorded and zipped through the game catching hi-lites and lo-lites.
ReplyDeleteIt seems FLA were looking for revenge for the season ending 10-2 loss. And got it
Habs looked like they were playing with 5 rookie D and a handful of useless forwards.
The Red Barron looks a bit like a gazelle on ice. Hope it's just nerves he needs to reconcile.
Guhle with a potential knee injury near the end of a blowout. Hope it ain't serious.
Drouin is truly useless. The new colour guy even called him out. Armia and Daddynot might be even worse.
Some nastiness in this one with 3 more to play. Those games might be fun at least.
This team is becoming not much fun to watch again. I liked having Lep's grit back, but Nature and Whiskey have not been bringing it lately and the whole team is wilting noticeably.
