Of all the Happy Elimination Days, a now 20 year old national holiday, this one is the best. First they lost to the worst team in the playoffs, second they were one cornstick from a sweep, third it means they have to blow up the team real good now. Mattews is going to Tchuck them, HAHAHAAHAHA.
Luke Fox: It ends "...with John Tavares and Auston Matthews — $22.64 million worth of All-Star centremen — combining for 50 shots and zero goals in the most important playoff series of their lives."
I watched the game with no sound at 2-1 leaf. Perfect ending. On to their next hyped up rebuild. So long as it doesn't include great ex-Habs, including Bowman.
I am a genius like Dumbass so we think the same. He thougt something I would not think, but he will make a blink and I wiil be lost. So he will get lazer surgery and lose the glasses and tell the world I can see better.
I have not had much time to process the latest Leaf Loss. Based upon the undenialbe super duber shanhaplan that has put them in the playoffs every year and charging $20 a beer, everyone is meeting targets finacial. The product does not matter,
So they are going to sign the most expensive pair of underpants in history. 14 mill for 8. They are going to trade Nylander and Billy,
Caught the USA game this morning. Some good some bad from Hutson. Made a beautiful stretch pass that his linemates couldn't finish. Ferrell rarely touched the puck. Didn't see much. He looks small. Rarely talked about prospect Luke Tuch drew in as the extra forward. He's not Alex. But he seems like a big boy and had a few touches.
To SiM. Mrs Pad and I also started watching Poker Face. Big fan of Natasha Lyonne. Great first episode. Watched a few more and it's pretty good. Don't think it is a spoiler to say it so far runs like a more nefarious Littlest Hobo.
You know what, it's mid-May, in years gone by the Cup would be handed out by now. Can't say I'll be watching much, if any, hockey from here on out. F BET-man.
I'll probably catch some World's action that's it.
The biggest offensive stars are all out of the picture halfway through tge playeoffs. Unbelievable this league can't somehow allow its superstars to shine on its biggest stage.
Well the supposed 2 biggest first picks overall in the past decade, McDavid and Underpants drafted in 15 and 16 (8 & 7 years ago!) have accomplished absolutely zero.
It should lessen the blow to any team not fortunate enough to draft Bedard this year, knowing having superstars (or multiple superstars) on your team means nothing. The important thing is to develop a well rounded team with depth, D and above average goaltending. I think HuGo will take us in that direction and this team will be very competetive in the 2025 playoffs.
can we dance a few monents more on the grave of the leaf. They need to sign capt underpants and he is going to want 14 mill miniim. A real man would tell him to fuck off and trade him to the peg. We face the same scenario with Cole Caulfied, If you dont want to sign fuck you,
So, at an altitude of 36°10'30"N, the Vegas Kuh-niggggggets are the team representing the northern-most fanbase for this winter sport, born in Canada, and built by fans in cities as far south as 40°42'46" (NYC).
I couldn’t help but notice that The View From Nebraska used our nic of Captain Underpants in his latest ravings Do we get royalties or something? Go Habs
Arizona doesn't do hockey Gary 5000 people in The Mullet won't pay any bills But of course Jimmy Balls can't have a team or Heir Legault in the ville How do we get rid of Gary Is there a way? Go Habs
Based on that I've proposed what I think is a brilliant system of 8 - 4 team subdivisions (or pods) and each pod connects to one other pod (to make a division). You play 6 games times 3 teams within you pod. You play 4 games vs teams in the connecting pod(the rest of the division basically). And twice vs the other 24 teams for a total of 82 games.
On the local CTV news out of Halifax tonight they were talking about the attendance of games between the Mooseheads and Remparts. The first two games in QC were over 18,000 while Halifax had over 11,000 for Game 3 with the same expected tonight. Meanwhile, Gary's Folly in Arizona, a hockey minor league at best continues as a NHL laughing stock. As the saying goes: 'There are none so blind as those who will not see.' Right Gary?
I'll bet everyone involved enjoyed playing another four periods of hockey after that. Wow! Lotsa' overtime pay for the TV crews and arena staff at PNC.
Canadian Corey Connors near the top of the PGA leaderboard. I imagine it's all the boys on TSN Overdrive will be talking about. Nothing else interesting happening today is there?
First First to comment on the clusterfuck explosion in Leaf land. Is this a serious organization or a Jerry Springer show? I recently came across a term used by one side in the horrible meaningless war in Ukraine. It was rake dancing. Like dancing on mousetraps but instead rakes. This is the leaf management. Herby did not rake dance he may have made the odd solo that raised a knot in his fore head, but it was only a single step. The leaf have been rake dancing for 9 years. They cant go forward and they cant go backward for any step will bring a rake to the head. They have to sign the big 3 before July 1 or lose them for nothing. Its a Tachuck karate chop Bruce lee sweep above the rakes. Let me put on my GM NHL masterclass hat. Little Billy Marnier, who wants this 11 million a year cap hit player who cant play in the playoffs? Nylander the engicma, a more productive version of our own Army. Minus 4 carreir in the playoffs, who wants this at 8 million a year. Next we have CPT underpants who to be fair is fair in the playoffs, but at 14 million a year ask is like a used BMW M3. So the leaf are fucked, way more fucked and behind the curve than any other real team in the leauge. Wow maybe there is a God after all.
It's great to see Donovan Bailey join Snoop Dogg and Neko Sparks in a bid to be the "first black-led ownership group" of an NHL team (the Sens). I hope it pans out for them.
Cooley saying F U to Bettman's desert wet dream. Love it. Do you offer #5 for Cooley or is Michkov, if available, too juicy despite the concerns? Or if the BPA is the Fresh Prince, is he better than Cooley anyway?
Or the FLA pick plus a prospect?
Is Cooley even worth it? A few sources seem to think he may have the highest ceiling from the 22 draft.
I have a source that is impecable. Its my imagination and its never failed to amaze. So what we know and what will blow. Putin has made an offer no owner can refuse. Michkov is goint to Washington on the same train taking PLD to Montreal. It not just hockey, now its geo politics and Alberta boys beating up on Huberdeau cause he is not in the words of Green Day an American Idiot. What would we be doning righjt now if Old Herb Tarluck has not worn a plaid suit on draft day. He would have taken Brady. Kid Ko is like a poors mans poor Claude Lemiux. When the kettle is on the mettle and fire is about to melt the pot, that KidKo comes through. So we have no shot at Michkov beause Putin personally told Mr Molsen, I can pee anywhere I want in case you have not noticed. I like copper pots.\\
Logan Cooley snubbing the shitshow in Arizona is great. However, I wouldn't trade #5 for him. Other than Bedard to Chicago, I think there will be some surprises regarding who is picked where. Jeff Gorton was quoted as saying the Habs would be aggressive at the Draft, they have the draft capital and lots of prospects to move up if they want. I don't think Adam Fantilli is out of reach if Montreal really wants him.
Getting back to Arizona, sounds like Cooley isn't the only one who might want out of Gary's Folly. Clayton Keller may be unhappy as well. It would be hilarious if the Coyotes players refused to play in that tiny rink. Wouldn't that mess up the league schedule if Arizona had to sit out the year?
Tkachuk joins Anaheim's Corey Perry (2017), Montreal's Maurice Richard (1951) and Boston's Mel Hill (1939) as players with three overtime goals in a single postseason.
He also joined Richard and Hill in scoring OT goals in the first two games of a single series. Tarran will deny it, but its hard not to believe TKachuk is the best American player at the moment, if not all time. Or maybe he is the end result of Soviet Supersoldiering.
Tkachuk is a Ukrainian surname, although his father has said that his family background and name is either "Polish, Russian, [or] Ukrainian, one of those." Tkachuk's mother Chantal is a native of Winnipeg, Canada
Toronto Sports Network @TSN_Parody No way! He did it again! Yet another "what do other teams think of what the Leafs did" story. Pierre has officially become a parody of himself. 🤣
I actually find it sad how respectable journalists or tv personalities will lower themselves and bow to the mighty $ to appease their owners and it's fanbase. He is now known as Peter the Brown or just 💩 for short.
As mentioned before he isn't the first and won't be the last. But two that really stand out for me are Friedman and Bieksa. Both were refreshing until they apparently got their knuckles rapped or worse and jumped on the pile of compost (aka leaf bandwagon).
I used to think Bieksa was funny and in the early days, he used to actually criticize the leaf. Now, as you say, he has been forced to drink the blue and white kool-aid and is just another leaf blower. I would bet big money he was told by Rogers/SportsBet to get with the leaf program or they would find somebody else.
It's sad really, Hockey Night In Canada as we knew it is now dead and has been ever since Rogers got the NHL broadcast rights. Saturday Night is just another leaf regional broadcast.
Good luck to our Canuck Corey Connors at the PGA today! Shut those douchebags that like to chant USA USA right the f up! If not he, then Hovland or Rose or Rory (hint to non golf fans, none of those are 'Murrican).
"The Montreal Canadiens are considering a handful of players with the 5th overall pick, and Ryan Leonard is one of those players. Leonard is one of the best goalscorers in the draft class, potting 51 goals in 57 games for the NTDP, and he can hurt you in many ways. Leonard has one of the most potent wrist shots in the class, especially on the rush. He’s also a fearless net-front presence, capable of deflecting shots and acting as a screen. Whatever you need, he’ll get it done."
"His combination of goal-scoring, physical play and speed make him one of those rare players that can do it all on a team; making an impact in all three zones and doing so with flash."
Well unlike his leaf at least Corey got past the 2nd round. I feared he wouldn't handle the pressure and it seems that way. And in true CBS fashion, they drop any hint of him even playing when he drops a couple strokes, but keep showing all their favourites no matter where they stand.
Why you should never pick an Amerian who watche FOX news. I gotta work everday under his dicatorship. WE did have an election or did he just spread his legs and make it happen.
So Beck (Petes) and Habs' 2022 5th round pick, D-man Jared Davidson (seattle T-Birds) will meet at the Memorial Cupnext weekend. Nifty! https://montrealhockeynow.com/2023/05/22/montreal-canadiens-two-canadiens-prospects-headed-to-memorial-cup-owen-beck/
Unfortaueaty for Jack Todd he works for something special. Today my only complaint is that an opion is locked behind a paywall on the internet where no one pay for anythiing.
Despite everything that's going on in the sports world, Rogers has Doobie's non-statement statement as the lead labeled 'BREAKING NEWS!'.
As fearless leader likes to say, it will get worse before it gets better. My fear is it will never get better. There are three years left on the Rogers/NHL deal. Is Bell/TSN starting to plan for that next bid? $20B? $30B? And if they win, will they be any better? It's been great living in the 'Habs region' for TSN games, but really those are just scraps that Rogers didn't want to pay for because they give no effs about the Habs. Will it be different? Who knows. All I know right now that it's a effin circus in tronna and it looks great on them. Looking forward to seeing what Bergy can do with that team.
My previous post disappeared, must have been a word blogger didn't like and it wasn't 'eff'. Even though Florida beat up our Habs multiple times last season, a shout out to Goalie Bob and company for dispatching the hated beaners, the wretched, laughable leaf and soon, the despicable windbags. I still despise that mickey mouse outfit for nearly blinding Saku nad their petty childish offer sheet retribution. Screw them.
... and for what it is worth, the arrogance, ignorance and bias of the leafools, sfu and the leaf makes their on-going soap opera even better to watch.
I haven't watched one second of NHL hockey since the end of the second round. I did watch some of the Mooseheads/Remparts series and a little bit of the WC. I'll probably tune in to Canada/Finland this afternoon.
As I mentioned earlier, I would give Corey Perry a one year deal in a heartbeat. C'mon Kent, you have nothing to lose...
I don't think he would sign with the leaf. He's a Hab fan and apparently still follows the team and keeps in touch with Nature and Whisky. I think he would be a great 3rd line and PP guy.
Lots of interesting scenarios regarding the 2023 draft. Anaheim takes Leo Carlsson Columbus takes Will Smith San Jose takes Michkov Holy smokes Adam Fantilli falls into HuGo's lap! He trades for PLD at the draft. Auston Matthews traded to Arizona for pick #6 and the sfu loses their collective shite.
PLD is a big Mac for the Habs, we should pay accordinly. OUr 32 pick this year, Devo, and all the other derlicts the Peg can handle and maybe a second. Otherwise wait a year and let God sort it all out.
Leaf pay structure is the definition of a mess Capt Underpants 11.6 M Jonny Toronto 11.0 M Little Mitchey 10.9 M Billy 6.95 M Morgan 7.5 M What’s his name in nets 6. Something M This is what dumbass did I can’t see this being a smart GM No balance Stupid Go Habs
Anybody watching the memorial Cup? I was half watching the game last night, Owen Beck looks good and over ager and later round pick (in his final year of eligibility) Jared Davidson is effective. Both picked last June. Beck has to go back to the OHL but Davidson can go to Laval, J.F. Houle should have lots of prospects to work with next season.
Full Monty has looked pretty good with Team Canada, the Habs may have a decent goalie after all.
I was thinking aboot teamates getting married. What happens when you miss the playoffs? So we have a great great smogesbord of events that will only be remebered for decades in Canada. First is Oko ottomani bo is going to win the world cup in Hockey. That is DuctCH gretzkey territory. I am all Whiskey , you know where they drink mor whiskey than anywhere in the world? The peg, so you want to battle our and be a free agent like Pierre LuC Dubois at 25, We trade you who does not want to be here. In Game of Thrones they called them rental sorweds. If you are a merencary we dont need you. HOw do you replace his indesbeisnb skill. Well ask a TCHUCK.
Are you suggesting Caufield doesn't want to be in Montreal and should therefore be traded for PLD? That's just insane.
You know what CC wants? To be paid what he believes he is worth.
You know what PLD will want next summer? The same thing CC wants.
I'll take CC every day over PLD. He has proven that he can excel in this market. I don't want another Quebecois 'saviour' who is going to wilt under the pressure of the immense spotlight.
St Pad yes CC wants what he is worth, but the running dog capipalist have runnied this billionares league with constant greed. Bruce Springstein said it , I might have impoved upon it over time but it still stands . All men what to rich, rich men want to be King, and the King is never satisfiied till he ruins everything. ( not my editorial on rules to ruins) The problem is that hockey is a scocalist sport. Its a team game where even the plugger can change the outcome. The capitalist ruin it by making a few players mavens, this goes against the game and even economics and it ruins hockey and it makes everyone poorer except the agents and the owners. So Whiskey should just buckle down take his liquor straight at 8 mill for 8 and mellow out.
What was Tylers Nic, cant remember, maybe I am to old to work the keyboard, Anyway he was asked by some fuckhead, what was it like to be part of the worst team ever to represent Canada, Fuck you Fuckhead, I shove my gold Euro design medal up your ass and Euro medals always have lots of points. It should be a much bigger deal but the SFU does not own it. Latvia got the bronze and they declared a national holiday. Thats the nation I want to be.
The days of intelligent reporters are long gone. I blame trump and fake news. Gold is Gold and you can take that to the bank, toronto and the sfu have no concept. Latvia's win is historic, again the cotu cannot grasp winning. It's foreign.
Congrats to Full Monty and Red Barron on winning gold medals with Team Canada. Well done!
Sounds like leafools and braindead beaners are trashing Lane Hutson on social media for being on the ice when Latvia got the winner in OT. That's OK, he will be burning their shite teams soon enough. Suck it SFU!
Crossing my fingers and hoping for the best for folks in the area of the forest fires on the fringe of Halifax. I know a few folks living in the aea who have been evacuated. Hope their homes are safe. And most importantly, for all that must do so, get out safely, along with their animal friends too.
This is Zombie ap crazy shit that should not be happening in a area on the Ocean. Its a warrning to everyone, buckle up there will be turbulance and it can kill you.
Thanks moe. All safe here for now. I was in fact just to a site for work near where the fire started and if I didn't know that just over a ridge that the forest (and sadly some homes) were flattened, I wouldn't know anything was wrong. Not over yet but rain forecasted for the weekend, so that's a blessing.
So typical. Another Shanahan go-around with the same recipe for mediocrity. But they will continue to make their money as surely as their fans' hearts will continue to break. GYFHG!
Well the Leafs might get a discount on Boston Pizza. He is the son of this billionare. So props to him for making his own way. But he is only one man sporn of a billionare we have two men sporn of hard knocks. I heard the name that can never be mentioned, former GM of the Leaf say, they got to much money and the think throwing money will make it better. Its like I have a plant, only so much I can do to make it grow, I might get a gardner or maybe two, but ten is crazy.
What a splendid analogy, worthy of re-posting here. Enjoy...
"Lol. The hiring of Treliving must be imminent because the Sportsnet fanboys are all-in on pumping his tires and white-washing his recent mistakes in Calgary.
Rogers-owned Sportsnet putting lipstick on the pig that is the Rogers-owned leafs."
Ha! and now President Doobie in Pittsburgh. Hey if the Habs can't win, or another Canadian team not named the leaf, it would actually be pretty funny to see Sid and the Pens win one more next year with Doobie in charge. Just for the SFU and their fans' reaction.
I wonder if Boy Wonder would consider trading Sid to the Habs? I would love to have him for even one season, maybe win an unexpected Cup just to mindfuck the sfu.
Glad I could do my part for the fires by having a couple groups of guys booking a night away for golf yesterday. We got 14 great holes in and the last hour was damn cold but only a smattering of rain. But cold and rainy all day today means great news for our firefighters. And I'll gladly take the rain cheque for the other round
Gary must be a huge fan of the old Tom Hanks movie 'The Money Pit'. The league keeps throwing good money after bad into the sinkhole in Arizona. Still, it seems to be a great place to dump bad contracts. Maybe #31 will one day be an alumni that never played a game for them. Hilarious. He and Shea could be teeing them up in Scottsdale.
Mostly out of boredom I read some of the ridiculous trade proposals posted on various amateur hockey writing sites. One such site asked if KH should trade Powerhorse and Tweed to Winnipeg for Jean-Luc. Short answer: No. Josh is a keeper and Coach Marty has shown him how to be more than just a north/south net crasher. One trade proposal that piqued my interest was G.I. Finn to Washington for Anthony Mantha who is a 6'-5" 235lb beast. It would be taking a bad contract back for one year, like MonaHab but I wonder if MSL could 'fix' Mantha who struggled under Coach Peter the PurpleFlower who has since moved on. I would do it. Mantha is only 28 years old.
I've stopped reading all this Draft drama about who the Habs will pick at #5. I don't really care anymore. Hopefully, they take Michkov if Carlsson and Smith are gone but I fully expect they will F Up again and take either Dvorsky or Reinbacher. It doesn't matter, any of them are three years out anyway, as Slowkovsky should be. BTW, it dawned on me the other day that Juraj will be another Big Tits.
M you give me hope that there is one more habs fan that cares more than me/ Look at the Golden Showers, they did not suffer one bit. It blows my mind but that is usal for most things.
Gary set the Golden Showers up for success right off the hop. That team has bought the Cup, it will forever be tainted like the 2011 beaners who were allowed to cripple players with no consequences.
Hey the M I recall you saying you are originally from Digby?
I see today Myles Creighton from that town won on the PGA Latin America Tour. Maybe one day we'll have a fellow Maritimer to cheer for. Rest of the Canadians haven't been up to much this year lately. Maybe next week one will show up for the Canadian Open. I wonder if Creighton will be playing?
Hey Saint Paddy, born in the Town of Digby but grew up on Digby Neck in a small fishing village of which there are several. Coincidently, I was on Facebook yesterday and one of my high school buddies who used to work at the Digby Pines golf course mentioned this young man who had won something. I wasn't aware of him but good job! Yeah, the RBC Canadian Open is this weekend coming and I thought only a couple of native sons are playing, Hadwin and Svensson maybe? Hopefully the Creighton kid or some Canadian can some day win this tournament.
Currently watching Saint Patrick's Remparts leading Seattle in the Memorial Cup final 2-0 with one period to go. Funny, the QMJHL is often said to be inferior to the OHL and WHL but Q teams have won this trophy a lot lately, including my Sea dogs twice in last 11 years. More SFU bullshit I guess.
Two-time defending champion Rory McIlroy along with international stars Matt Fitzpatrick, Sam Burns, Cameron Young, Tyrrell Hatton, Tommy Fleetwood, Shane Lowry, Sahith Theegala and Justin Rose will be joined by past Major champions, in-year winners and Canadian stars led by Corey Conners, Mackenzie Hughes, Adam Svensson, Nick Taylor, Adam Hadwin and Taylor Pendrith at Oakdale Golf and Country Club
20 Canadians set to compete in 112th playing of Canada’s National Men’s Open Championship.
That's a pretty good field. Friends of mine are going up to that.
Congrats to Pat Roy and the Remparts winning for the Q once more. Roy's final season behind the bench. Not sure if he ends up behind a NHL bench or not. Best to him whatever goes down.
Or is it 22 year old whiskey? Whatever it is 8 years at $62M is a heck of a deal. Here's hoping for the young man to remain healthy and score many goals vs the hapless leaf!
If it wasn't obvious before it is now, Kent Hughes is a much better negotiator than Kyle Dubas. And just imagine, in another year, some sucker is going to be paying awesome matthews, the softest player in the league probably over $14mil per season. Maybe it will be Dubas again! No thanks.
Queue the leaf fans (or is it Cue?) letting us know how small CC is and therefore what a terrible signing this is. They have zero clues and don't think of looking inwards before speaking. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.
I would argue that Cole Caufield's offseason signing ranks among the top stories of Canadian hockey teams. So I was curious how long SN would leave it as their lead story and it's already gone as of 11AM EST, about 90 minutes later, replaced by some story about their sad baseball team.
Hey just so y'all are aware, Blogger just sent me an email to advise that a classic post by HF29 from 2014 when Strombo was given a shot (until they realized he was a Habs fan) was "put behind a warning for readers because it contains sensitive content".
- was away since Saturday visiting my Mom with my kids, she's doing great - Apple developer conference today so just catching up - GREAT signing by HuGo, a shot of whiskey for all true hockey fans - why the sudden interest in Pens management, oh yeah, the fùcked up SFU - unlike the SFU wads, please DO NOT not call the HAbs group of new young players a 'core' - like St. Pad, but more, I've received a dozen warning about some old blog threads, FÛCK OFF - looking forward to our #5 pick (unless HuGo mixes it up), hope MitCHov is still available - Congrats to Patrick Roy in all his post NHL accomplishments, once again proving to be a true Canadian and dwarfing ALL of gretzky's post NHL accomplishments - Roy changed the game much more than #99 and is a true man of hockey
Final comment on this thread (#199). Now that Whiskey has signed his extension and the Memorial Cup has been won (4th time in a row by the Q, so suck it SFU), it's time to put hockey away until June 28th when HuGo plucks their latest plum (we hope). Gary Buttman and his USNHL can FÛCK OFF and take his Vegas backed gambling shit with them. I'm done.
Go Cats!
ReplyDeleteCuz!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSuck it Leaf!
I'd like to think my Nick Cousins crypto comment from thread 1 had a little something to do with this great day.

DeleteWTG former Hab, Nick Cousins!
ReplyDeleteSFU bye-bye Laffs and COTU mediots!
Hey, it's threatening to be an all-deep-South final four. BET-man must be in heaven.
Funny how the esteemed panel didn't mention this

Click the video for sound. It's about O'Reilly pushing the pad in on the non goal.
DeleteOne thing's for sure: this will provide jet-fuel for years of Leaffool Whinery.
DeleteHappy leaf elimination day everyone!
ReplyDeleteI heard that was part of the new passport design.
DeleteThe images on the passport have to be changed every so many years to prevent fakes. No one is throwing terry fox under the bus.
DeleteI am not jumping on PP's rage-farming bandwagon here. Just came up with it as a moment Canadians from coast to coast to coast could rally behind.
DeleteI nonminate the scence where they strip the C off of Jonny T at center ice in front of 20,ooo sobbing leaf fools.
DeleteOf all the Happy Elimination Days, a now 20 year old national holiday, this one is the best. First they lost to the worst team in the playoffs, second they were one cornstick from a sweep, third it means they have to blow up the team real good now. Mattews is going to Tchuck them, HAHAHAAHAHA.
ReplyDeleteOh the delicious leaf SchadenFreUde today.
ReplyDeleteTook a quick peek at the toronto sports network web page, LOL, lots of click bait for leafools there. I wouldn't even look at sportsBet.
ReplyDeleteLuke Fox:
DeleteIt ends "...with John Tavares and Auston Matthews — $22.64 million worth of All-Star centremen — combining for 50 shots and zero goals in the most important playoff series of their lives."
Good summary
I watched the first episode of Rian Johnson's Poker Face, starring Natasha Lyonne. High recommend.
ReplyDeleteAdded a couple of images ...
ReplyDeleteLove the water damage cartoon and sympathy card especially!
DeleteI watched the game with no sound at 2-1 leaf. Perfect ending. On to their next hyped up rebuild. So long as it doesn't include great ex-Habs, including Bowman.
ReplyDeleteThey have traded away for a long time. By a fluke they get the Broons pick at the 19
ReplyDeleteI am a genius like Dumbass so we think the same. He thougt something I would not think, but he will make a blink and I wiil be lost. So he will get lazer surgery and lose the glasses and tell the world I can see better.
ReplyDeleteNHL logic: with only one game on tap, the start time us 10 p.m. (ET)
ReplyDelete...on a Sunday.
.... 11pm AST, the NHL doesn't give a flying f**k about the maritime provinces. I don't give a crap about them and their endless gambling ads either.

ReplyDeleteThey have mortgaged the future to win now and they’re not winning
Oh well we’ll get them next year!

To SiM. Mrs Pad and I also started watching Poker Face. Big fan of Natasha Lyonne. Great first episode. Watched a few more and it's pretty good. Don't think it is a spoiler to say it so far runs like a more nefarious Littlest Hobo.
ReplyDeleteLoved NL in OITNB and everything she's done since. This is a great role for her.
DeleteButtman must be pleased his final four includes three teams from the deep south. Will Dallas it be four? No many big name offensive super stars left.
ReplyDeleteHoping for Dallas and Domini to advance, all the same.
DeleteYou know what, it's mid-May, in years gone by the Cup would be handed out by now. Can't say I'll be watching much, if any, hockey from here on out. F BET-man.

100% my thoughts exactly. If PLD wants more than Nick he can eff right off.
DeleteIf I was Kent Hughes I'd sign Corey Perry to a 2 year deal in a heartbeat.
ReplyDeletecan we dance a few monents more on the grave of the leaf. They need to sign capt underpants and he is going to want 14 mill miniim. A real man would tell him to fuck off and trade him to the peg.
ReplyDeleteWe face the same scenario with Cole Caulfied, If you dont want to sign fuck you,
Nice to see the Q and O finals being televised on tsn. And the W, but that's too late.
ReplyDeleteGo Moose!
Congrats, Stars!
ReplyDeleteSo, at an altitude of 36°10'30"N, the Vegas Kuh-niggggggets are the team representing the northern-most fanbase for this winter sport, born in Canada, and built by fans in cities as far south as 40°42'46" (NYC).
Why does this bother me so?
Did I say altitude instead of latitude?
DeleteMr. Lidstone (9th grade, Cdn Geography) would not be impressed.
I couldn’t help but notice that The View From Nebraska used our nic of Captain Underpants in his latest ravings
ReplyDeleteDo we get royalties or something?

Actually Jack may have coined that term. Our nick has always been Narcos. Awesome says he wants to stay in tranna. I highly doubt that.

Go Habs
If you believe the reports, teams might be interested in bringing Bergy in as GM. So maybe we CAN trade Armia and Hoffman!
ReplyDeleteIf he goes to Pitt maybe he will trade Sid to his old team. We (I don't usually use that term) will instantly become better than the wretched leaf.
DeleteHah! Druid's agent just jumped out of his chair too.
DeleteGood one Scott. For sure he will take on the TFS contract as well.
DeleteHey wonder if maybe he’d be interested in Alser Karl
ReplyDeleteWe have on of those

What now Gary?
ReplyDeleteArizona doesn't do hockey Gary
ReplyDelete5000 people in The Mullet won't pay any bills
But of course Jimmy Balls can't have a team or Heir Legault in the ville
How do we get rid of Gary
Is there a way?
Go Habs
Thsy'll be off to Houston or Utah (unless the gambling is a problem for the Mormons), but nowhere in Canada, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteIt should 100% go to QC but it won't.
ReplyDeleteBased on that I've proposed what I think is a brilliant system of 8 - 4 team subdivisions (or pods) and each pod connects to one other pod (to make a division). You play 6 games times 3 teams within you pod. You play 4 games vs teams in the connecting pod(the rest of the division basically). And twice vs the other 24 teams for a total of 82 games.
Our pod/division

DeleteOn the local CTV news out of Halifax tonight they were talking about the attendance of games between the Mooseheads and Remparts.
ReplyDeleteHalifax or Québec = Cordelia to Bet-man's King Lear.
DeleteFÙCK bettman
ReplyDeleteI'm honestly curious.
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody know how much teams like the Habs and leaf pay to keep Bettman's wet dream alive in the desert?
Lomberg's goal should've held up.
ReplyDeleteI'll bet everyone involved enjoyed playing another four periods of hockey after that. Wow! Lotsa' overtime pay for the TV crews and arena staff at PNC.
DeleteRest in Peace Jim Brown.
ReplyDelete(updated thread has a pic...)
RIP. A great man by all accounts.
DeleteI dont know all his movies but I remember his Westerns RIP
DeleteCanadian Corey Connors near the top of the PGA leaderboard. I imagine it's all the boys on TSN Overdrive will be talking about. Nothing else interesting happening today is there?
ReplyDeleteFirst First to comment on the clusterfuck explosion in Leaf land.
ReplyDeleteI thinks Justin Biebs will be the new leaf GM. Isn't he besties with Awesome? A match made in heaven
ReplyDeleteIt's great to see Donovan Bailey join Snoop Dogg and Neko Sparks in a bid to be the "first black-led ownership group" of an NHL team (the Sens). I hope it pans out for them.
ReplyDeleteSo much drama unfolding in the CotU, how is the Shanaplan working out for them I wonder?
ReplyDeleteAn old familar face is availble having departed Pitsburg, we can only hope.
DeleteleafSchadenfreude
ReplyDeleteCooley saying F U to Bettman's desert wet dream. Love it. Do you offer #5 for Cooley or is Michkov, if available, too juicy despite the concerns? Or if the BPA is the Fresh Prince, is he better than Cooley anyway?
ReplyDeleteOr the FLA pick plus a prospect?
DeleteSo we have no shot at Michkov beause Putin personally told Mr Molsen, I can pee anywhere I want in case you have not noticed.
DeleteGetting back to Arizona, sounds like Cooley isn't the only one who might want out of Gary's Folly.
ReplyDeleteHe also joined Richard and Hill in scoring OT goals in the first two games of a single series.
I was picking Carolina to advance but no longer. There is a raging fire in that Panthers team (and Bob esp.) that cannot be contained.
ReplyDeleteF the Windbags, they and KK can F right off.
Deletetranna sports network cannot help themselves...

@TSN_Parody
No way! He did it again! Yet another "what do other teams think of what the Leafs did" story. Pierre has officially become a parody of himself. 🤣
I actually find it sad how respectable journalists or tv personalities will lower themselves and bow to the mighty $ to appease their owners and it's fanbase.
DeleteHe is now known as Peter the Brown or just 💩 for short.
DeleteIt's sad really, Hockey Night In Canada as we knew it is now dead and has been ever since Rogers got the NHL broadcast rights. Saturday Night is just another leaf regional broadcast.
Good luck to our Canuck Corey Connors at the PGA today!
ReplyDeleteShut those douchebags that like to chant USA USA right the f up!
ReplyDelete"His combination of goal-scoring, physical play and speed make him one of those rare players that can do it all on a team; making an impact in all three zones and doing so with flash."
Sounds like another Powerhorse to me. I'm sold!
Maybe even another Matthew Tkachuk.
DeleteOn a side note, looks like Corey Connors is pulling a leaf like choke job. Hint: he is a leaf fan.
I had heard talk of him being a stud on TSN690.
DeleteWell unlike his leaf at least Corey got past the 2nd round. I feared he wouldn't handle the pressure and it seems that way. And in true CBS fashion, they drop any hint of him even playing when he drops a couple strokes, but keep showing all their favourites no matter where they stand.
DeleteWhy you should never pick an Amerian who watche FOX news. I gotta work everday under his dicatorship. WE did have an election or did he just spread his legs and make it happen.
DeleteAll that being said, I won't be sad if they take Michkov or any of the Top 5. Unlike last year when they took Slowkovsky and I was furious.
DeleteWow, I thought the Mooseheads had this game in the bag. Couple of turnovers and Saint Patrick gets his President's trophy.
ReplyDeleteSo Beck (Petes) and Habs' 2022 5th round pick, D-man Jared Davidson (seattle T-Birds) will meet at the Memorial Cupnext weekend. Nifty!

ReplyDeletehttps://montrealgazette.com/opinion/columnists/jack-todd-maple-leafs-latest-display-of-futility-is-wildly-entertaining
Unfortaueaty for Jack Todd he works for something special. Today my only complaint is that an opion is locked behind a paywall on the internet where no one pay for anythiing.
DeleteIt sure is fun watching leaf nation implode.
DeleteDespite everything that's going on in the sports world, Rogers has Doobie's non-statement statement as the lead labeled 'BREAKING NEWS!'.
ReplyDeleteAs fearless leader likes to say, it will get worse before it gets better.
ReplyDeleteEven though Florida beat up our Habs multiple times last season, a shout out to Goalie Bob and company for dispatching the hated beaners, the wretched, laughable leaf and soon, the despicable windbags. I still despise that mickey mouse outfit for nearly blinding Saku nad their petty childish offer sheet retribution. Screw them.
Yep agree 100% plus I like Paul Maurice's attitude.
DeleteAs for the leaf, the sfu is fûcking obsessed.
... and for what it is worth, the arrogance, ignorance and bias of the leafools, sfu and the leaf makes their on-going soap opera even better to watch.

DeleteRock on Queen!
Ooh, KK with the give away in the offensive zone before the give away in the D Zone before FLA gets the 3-2 lead. Not a good shift.
ReplyDeleteWell done, Panthers! What an exciting finish.
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched one second of NHL hockey since the end of the second round. I did watch some of the Mooseheads/Remparts series and a little bit of the WC. I'll probably tune in to Canada/Finland this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteAs I mentioned earlier, I would give Corey Perry a one year deal in a heartbeat. C'mon Kent, you have nothing to lose...
Same, zero hockey.
DeleteI think the desperate leaf will sign Perry (and he'll get injured, he never gets injured, karma).
I don't think he would sign with the leaf. He's a Hab fan and apparently still follows the team and keeps in touch with Nature and Whisky. I think he would be a great 3rd line and PP guy.
DeleteI did say 'the desperate leaf'. (they probably won't have enough coin left)
DeleteFlorida Panthers sure are doing right by Habs fans.
ReplyDeleteBoston: Everyone retiring.
Toronto: Everyone fired.
Carolina: Everyone losing their minds.
I'm not even upset that the 1st round pick is at the bottom. I still won't watch.
Lots of interesting scenarios regarding the 2023 draft.
ReplyDeleteAnaheim takes Leo Carlsson
Columbus takes Will Smith
San Jose takes Michkov
Holy smokes Adam Fantilli falls into HuGo's lap!
DeleteWell well well the Leaf almost made the finals again. All that is missing is winning two rounds of the playoffs

"So…this happened 💍❤️ Best question I ever asked…she said OUI 😍" Poulin captioned an Instagram post announcing their engagement."
Congratulations to them! And bugger off, Eric Staal and bros. People are people, as Depeche Mode sang.
Hah! Love the way the Stars are sticking it to the Silly Vegas Kuh-niggets. Back to Dallas for Game 6 with the right Benn back on the ice.
ReplyDeleteSo Monty's (and Toffee's) Team Canada is in the IIHF final against ...Germany? Whoa, what happened there, USA (and our Lane Hutson)?
ReplyDeleteBTW - Still: the Michael J. Fox Story on Apple+ is a highly rewarding experience. Doybly inspirational story for a short guy like me.
ReplyDeleteFull Monty has looked pretty good with Team Canada, the Habs may have a decent goalie after all.
Oops, that goal didn't look good however.
DeleteWhislju is he so rare you have to just pay outr
ReplyDeleteI was thinking aboot teamates getting married. What happens when you miss the playoffs?
ReplyDeleteSo we have a great great smogesbord of events that will only be remebered for decades in Canada.
If you are a merencary
we dont need you.
HOw do you replace his indesbeisnb skill. Well ask a TCHUCK.
Are you suggesting Caufield doesn't want to be in Montreal and should therefore be traded for PLD? That's just insane.
DeleteYou know what CC wants?
( not my editorial on rules to ruins)
DeleteThe problem is that hockey is a scocalist sport.
Congrats to Monty and Team Canada on winning Gold.
ReplyDeleteWhat was Tylers Nic, cant remember, maybe I am to old to work the keyboard, Anyway he was asked by some fuckhead, what was it like to be part of the worst team ever to represent Canada, Fuck you Fuckhead, I shove my gold Euro design medal up your ass and Euro medals always have lots of points. It should be a much bigger deal but the SFU does not own it. Latvia got the bronze and they declared a national holiday. Thats the nation I want to be.
DeleteThe days of intelligent reporters are long gone. I blame trump and fake news. Gold is Gold and you can take that to the bank, toronto and the sfu have no concept. Latvia's win is historic, again the cotu cannot grasp winning. It's foreign.
DeleteCongrats to Full Monty and Red Barron on winning gold medals with Team Canada. Well done!
ReplyDeleteSounds like leafools and braindead beaners are trashing Lane Hutson on social media for being on the ice when Latvia got the winner in OT. That's OK, he will be burning their shite teams soon enough. Suck it SFU!
Yes congrats!
DeleteAnd how dare Hutson block a cross crease pass for a sure goal to have it unluckily bounce right onto the stick of another player!

DeleteCrossing my fingers and hoping for the best for folks in the area of the forest fires on the fringe of Halifax. I know a few folks living in the aea who have been evacuated. Hope their homes are safe. And most importantly, for all that must do so, get out safely, along with their animal friends too.
ReplyDeleteMy heart's out to all in that situation. Fires are scary ss shit. You can't take any chances.
DeleteThis is Zombie ap crazy shit that should not be happening in a area on the Ocean. Its a warrning to everyone, buckle up there will be turbulance and it can kill you.
DeleteSeries finale of Succession tonight.
ReplyDeleteI think I'll start watching this series, Mrs Pad says it's really good.
I have Netflix, Apple TV, Disney+, AmazonPrime TV and Paramount. With all that I still feel like I'm missing out without HBO Max.
DeleteGreat series, great ending.
DeleteR.I.P. Michel Côté. Loved his as the 70s dad who looked a touch like Lafleur in C.R.A.Z.Y. (one of the best films ever btw).
ReplyDeleteJust checked the score looks like Florida/Vegas Final. Gary is masturbating as we speak. SportsBet not so much.
ReplyDeleteStars must be wishing Benn had gotten a couple more games on his suspension.
DeleteMiami Heat taking the NBA championship tonight. Panthers in the NHL final too, against the cap-cheating, cringey Kuh-niggets. Bleah
ReplyDeleteCheck: the Heat are GOING to the NBA finals, rather.
DeleteCats in 6..
ReplyDeleteAll the best for our East and West coast friends dealing with the wildfires.
ReplyDeleteThanks moe. All safe here for now. I was in fact just to a site for work near where the fire started and if I didn't know that just over a ridge that the forest (and sadly some homes) were flattened, I wouldn't know anything was wrong. Not over yet but rain forecasted for the weekend, so that's a blessing.
DeleteAmen, I mean WTF Halifax, the world does not turn like its supposed to anymore.
DeleteLOL. Leafs refurbishing the failed Flames GM has the fans in a tizzy. It's great to see.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, I'm interested in seeing what former Habs' draftee Craig Conroy does in Calgary. If he doesn't hire Gallant, he's making a mistake.
So typical. Another Shanahan go-around with the same recipe for mediocrity. But they will continue to make their money as surely as their fans' hearts will continue to break.
DeleteGYFHG!
DeleteWhat a splendid analogy, worthy of re-posting here. Enjoy...
Delete"Lol. The hiring of Treliving must be imminent because the Sportsnet fanboys are all-in on pumping his tires and white-washing his recent mistakes in Calgary.
Rogers-owned Sportsnet putting lipstick on the pig that is the Rogers-owned leafs."
Meanwhile... just watched the Ted Lasso series finale and wouldn't you know, the series arc ends 180° off the MSL story. Pretty sweet.

But never never ever any Leafools. Buncha wankers.
The future os HuGoMSL Habs
The future is fun!
Ha! and now President Doobie in Pittsburgh. Hey if the Habs can't win, or another Canadian team not named the leaf, it would actually be pretty funny to see Sid and the Pens win one more next year with Doobie in charge. Just for the SFU and their fans' reaction.
ReplyDeleteI'm there for it, LMAO
DeleteI just took a quick peek at the toronto sports network and, as expected, it's leaf, leaf, leaf and more leaf. Even ex-leaf. Too funny!
DeleteI wonder if Boy Wonder would consider trading Sid to the Habs? I would love to have him for even one season, maybe win an unexpected Cup just to mindfuck the sfu.
ReplyDeleteIt would be sublime, but I don't think Sid woild be onboard.
DeleteWe can dream.
DeleteBut do you give up #5 for a 36 y/o Sid?
Oh I know, Sid will retire a Penguin. And no, definitely not trading #5 for anything less than MacKinnon.
DeleteAh but that Americsn greed itself has creeped and seeped into Canada (and no, not recently).
ReplyDeleteSome very welcome rain on the way today. I'll get my round in though, #14 today.
ReplyDeleteGo Habs Go! F U SFU!
Congrats to the Pez on a two year deal. Love that guy!
ReplyDeleteLooks like the Tiger Williams homage got him a raise too!
Good signing. Pez is one of those players whose value is hard to quantify, but you really notice when he's not in the lineup.
DeleteAdds truckulance
DeleteLove the Pez signing too. In order to put together a competitive roster you need a 4th line on the cheap that actually adds value to the team.
DeleteGlad I could do my part for the fires by having a couple groups of guys booking a night away for golf yesterday. We got 14 great holes in and the last hour was damn cold but only a smattering of rain.
ReplyDeleteBut cold and rainy all day today means great news for our firefighters. And I'll gladly take the rain cheque for the other round
Buttman and his gang of Americants is committed to keeping hockey in arazonia
ReplyDeleteHow do we get rid of this guy
There must be a way
Go Habs
Sadly, most of the owners love him and give him credit for how much filthier rich they all are. It's on them whether he stays or goes, no one else.
DeleteGary must be a huge fan of the old Tom Hanks movie 'The Money Pit'. The league keeps throwing good money after bad into the sinkhole in Arizona. Still, it seems to be a great place to dump bad contracts. Maybe #31 will one day be an alumni that never played a game for them. Hilarious. He and Shea could be teeing them up in Scottsdale.
DeleteOops, correction: Shea is in Vegas, will he get a ring if the Golden Pissers win?
DeleteMostly out of boredom I read some of the ridiculous trade proposals posted on various amateur hockey writing sites.
ReplyDeleteI've stopped reading all this Draft drama about who the Habs will pick at #5.
M you give me hope that there is one more habs fan that cares more than me/
DeleteLook at the Golden Showers, they did not suffer one bit. It blows my mind but that is usal for most things.
Gary set the Golden Showers up for success right off the hop. That team has bought the Cup, it will forever be tainted like the 2011 beaners who were allowed to cripple players with no consequences.
DeleteHey the M I recall you saying you are originally from Digby?
ReplyDeleteI see today Myles Creighton from that town won on the PGA Latin America Tour.
DeleteCurrently watching Saint Patrick's Remparts leading Seattle in the Memorial Cup final 2-0 with one period to go.
Delete20 Canadians set to compete in 112th playing of Canada’s National Men’s Open Championship.
That's a pretty good field. Friends of mine are going up to that.
Congrats to Pat Roy and the Remparts winning for the Q once more. Roy's final season behind the bench. Not sure if he ends up behind a NHL bench or not. Best to him whatever goes down.
ReplyDeleteAll he does is win. A pox on the house of Mario Tremblay.
DeleteI will have 8 shots of your finest '62 Whiskey please and thank you!
ReplyDelete61 year old whiskey? Pricey... ; )
DeleteOr is it 22 year old whiskey? Whatever it is 8 years at $62M is a heck of a deal. Here's hoping for the young man to remain healthy and score many goals vs the hapless leaf!
DeleteWhiskey a Go-Go! 8 yrs 7.85 avg. Yessir!!
ReplyDeleteIf it wasn't obvious before it is now, Kent Hughes is a much better negotiator than Kyle Dubas. And just imagine, in another year, some sucker is going to be paying awesome matthews, the softest player in the league probably over $14mil per season. Maybe it will be Dubas again! No thanks.
ReplyDeleteQueue the leaf fans (or is it Cue?) letting us know how small CC is and therefore what a terrible signing this is. They have zero clues and don't think of looking inwards before speaking. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.
ReplyDeleteHow big is Mitch Marner and how much are the leaf paying him? Leafools can all FRO.
DeleteI would argue that Cole Caufield's offseason signing ranks among the top stories of Canadian hockey teams. So I was curious how long SN would leave it as their lead story and it's already gone as of 11AM EST, about 90 minutes later, replaced by some story about their sad baseball team.
ReplyDeleteStrong signing...love it
ReplyDeleteHey just so y'all are aware, Blogger just sent me an email to advise that a classic post by HF29 from 2014 when Strombo was given a shot (until they realized he was a Habs fan) was "put behind a warning for readers because it contains sensitive content".
ReplyDeleteWell done 29, well done.
Retrospective respect... very impressive!
DeleteSo, um some fùcking thoughts ...
ReplyDelete- was away since Saturday visiting my Mom with my kids, she's doing great
- Apple developer conference today so just catching up
- GREAT signing by HuGo, a shot of whiskey for all true hockey fans
- why the sudden interest in Pens management, oh yeah, the fùcked up SFU
- unlike the SFU wads, please DO NOT not call the HAbs group of new young players a 'core'
- like St. Pad, but more, I've received a dozen warning about some old blog threads, FÛCK OFF
- looking forward to our #5 pick (unless HuGo mixes it up), hope MitCHov is still available
- Congrats to Patrick Roy in all his post NHL accomplishments, once again proving to be a true Canadian and dwarfing ALL of gretzky's post NHL accomplishments
- Roy changed the game much more than #99 and is a true man of hockey
Well said. 👍🍺
DeletePlus, you don't see Saint Patrick hocking the putrid sportsBet gambling shit.
DeleteLife eferming moment. Whiskey takes a home town deal, praise the Lord.
ReplyDeleteFinal comment on this thread (#199). I'm done.
ReplyDeleteTime for a new thread!
