  20. Well the supposed 2 biggest first picks overall in the past decade, McDavid and Underpants drafted in 15 and 16 (8 & 7 years ago!) have accomplished absolutely zero.

It should lessen the blow to any team not fortunate enough to draft Bedard this year, knowing having superstars (or multiple superstars) on your team means nothing. The important thing is to develop a well rounded team with depth, D and above average goaltending. I think HuGo will take us in that direction and this team will be very competetive in the 2025 playoffs.

First First to comment on the clusterfuck explosion in Leaf land. Is this a serious organization or a Jerry Springer show? I recently came across a term used by one side in the horrible meaningless war in Ukraine. It was rake dancing. Like dancing on mousetraps but instead rakes. This is the leaf management. Herby did not rake dance he may have made the odd solo that raised a knot in his fore head, but it was only a single step. The leaf have been rake dancing for 9 years. They cant go forward and they cant go backward for any step will bring a rake to the head. They have to sign the big 3 before July 1 or lose them for nothing. Its a Tachuck karate chop Bruce lee sweep above the rakes. Let me put on my GM NHL masterclass hat. Little Billy Marnier, who wants this 11 million a year cap hit player who cant play in the playoffs? Nylander the engicma, a more productive version of our own Army. Minus 4 carreir in the playoffs, who wants this at 8 million a year. Next we have CPT underpants who to be fair is fair in the playoffs, but at 14 million a year ask is like a used BMW M3. So the leaf are fucked, way more fucked and behind the curve than any other real team in the leauge. Wow maybe there is a God after all.

Or the FLA pick plus a prospect?

Is Cooley even worth it? A few sources seem to think he may have the highest ceiling from the 22 draft.

    1. steve5:38 PM

I have a source that is impecable. Its my imagination and its never failed to amaze. So what we know and what will blow. Putin has made an offer no owner can refuse. Michkov is goint to Washington on the same train taking PLD to Montreal. It not just hockey, now its geo politics and Alberta boys beating up on Huberdeau cause he is not in the words of Green Day an American Idiot. What would we be doning righjt now if Old Herb Tarluck has not worn a plaid suit on draft day. He would have taken Brady. Kid Ko is like a poors mans poor Claude Lemiux. When the kettle is on the mettle and fire is about to melt the pot, that KidKo comes through.
So we have no shot at Michkov beause Putin personally told Mr Molsen, I can pee anywhere I want in case you have not noticed. I like copper pots.\\

    2. the Maritimer7:15 PM

Logan Cooley snubbing the shitshow in Arizona is great. However, I wouldn't trade #5 for him. Other than Bedard to Chicago, I think there will be some surprises regarding who is picked where. Jeff Gorton was quoted as saying the Habs would be aggressive at the Draft, they have the draft capital and lots of prospects to move up if they want. I don't think Adam Fantilli is out of reach if Montreal really wants him.

Getting back to Arizona, sounds like Cooley isn't the only one who might want out of Gary's Folly. Clayton Keller may be unhappy as well. It would be hilarious if the Coyotes players refused to play in that tiny rink. Wouldn't that mess up the league schedule if Arizona had to sit out the year?

Tkachuk joins Anaheim's Corey Perry (2017), Montreal's Maurice Richard (1951) and Boston's Mel Hill (1939) as players with three overtime goals in a single postseason.

He also joined Richard and Hill in scoring OT goals in the first two games of a single series.
Tarran will deny it, but its hard not to believe TKachuk is the best American player at the moment, if not all time.
Or maybe he is the end result of Soviet Supersoldiering.

Tkachuk is a Ukrainian surname, although his father has said that his family background and name is either "Polish, Russian, [or] Ukrainian, one of those." Tkachuk's mother Chantal is a native of Winnipeg, Canada

Leonard is one of the best goalscorers in the draft class, potting 51 goals in 57 games for the NTDP, and he can hurt you in many ways. Leonard has one of the most potent wrist shots in the class, especially on the rush. He’s also a fearless net-front presence, capable of deflecting shots and acting as a screen. Whatever you need, he’ll get it done."

"His combination of goal-scoring, physical play and speed make him one of those rare players that can do it all on a team; making an impact in all three zones and doing so with flash."

As fearless leader likes to say, it will get worse before it gets better. My fear is it will never get better. There are three years left on the Rogers/NHL deal. Is Bell/TSN starting to plan for that next bid? $20B? $30B? And if they win, will they be any better? It's been great living in the 'Habs region' for TSN games, but really those are just scraps that Rogers didn't want to pay for because they give no effs about the Habs. Will it be different? Who knows. All I know right now that it's a effin circus in tronna and it looks great on them. Looking forward to seeing what Bergy can do with that team.

Anybody watching the memorial Cup? I was half watching the game last night, Owen Beck looks good and over ager and later round pick (in his final year of eligibility) Jared Davidson is effective. Both picked last June. Beck has to go back to the OHL but Davidson can go to Laval, J.F. Houle should have lots of prospects to work with next season.

Full Monty has looked pretty good with Team Canada, the Habs may have a decent goalie after all.

St Pad yes CC wants what he is worth, but the running dog capipalist have runnied this billionares league with constant greed. Bruce Springstein said it , I might have impoved upon it over time but it still stands . All men what to rich, rich men want to be King, and the King is never satisfiied till he ruins everything. ( not my editorial on rules to ruins)
The problem is that hockey is a scocalist sport. Its a team game where even the plugger can change the outcome. The capitalist ruin it by making a few players mavens, this goes against the game and even economics and it ruins hockey and it makes everyone poorer except the agents and the owners.

Mostly out of boredom I read some of the ridiculous trade proposals posted on various amateur hockey writing sites. One such site asked if KH should trade Powerhorse and Tweed to Winnipeg for Jean-Luc. Short answer: No. Josh is a keeper and Coach Marty has shown him how to be more than just a north/south net crasher. One trade proposal that piqued my interest was G.I. Finn to Washington for Anthony Mantha who is a 6'-5" 235lb beast. It would be taking a bad contract back for one year, like MonaHab but I wonder if MSL could 'fix' Mantha who struggled under Coach Peter the PurpleFlower who has since moved on. I would do it. Mantha is only 28 years old.

I've stopped reading all this Draft drama about who the Habs will pick at #5. I don't really care anymore. Hopefully, they take Michkov if Carlsson and Smith are gone but I fully expect they will F Up again and take either Dvorsky or Reinbacher. It doesn't matter, any of them are three years out anyway, as Slowkovsky should be. BTW, it dawned on me the other day that Juraj will be another Big Tits.

Hey Saint Paddy, born in the Town of Digby but grew up on Digby Neck in a small fishing village of which there are several. Coincidently, I was on Facebook yesterday and one of my high school buddies who used to work at the Digby Pines golf course mentioned this young man who had won something. I wasn't aware of him but good job! Yeah, the RBC Canadian Open is this weekend coming and I thought only a couple of native sons are playing, Hadwin and Svensson maybe? Hopefully the Creighton kid or some Canadian can some day win this tournament.

Currently watching Saint Patrick's Remparts leading Seattle in the Memorial Cup final 2-0 with one period to go. Funny, the QMJHL is often said to be inferior to the OHL and WHL but Q teams have won this trophy a lot lately, including my Sea dogs twice in last 11 years. More SFU bullshit I guess.
