It's amazing, Buffalo PP literally passed the puck around at will with several high quality chances. Jake Allen stood his ground. Why can't Montreal set up like that? Marty won't be able to deflect those questions all year.
Buffalo guys (Rob Ray is the colour guy) do not criticize the Habs, only describe the action and offer only positives. Unlike the biased, hateful shitnet clowns. Especially that fucking galley.
Interesting...Skinner scored for Buffalo and he's scored more goals vs the Habs than any other team. And Gallagher has scored more vs Buffalo than any other team.
Progress! Division rival on the ropes early in the season and MSL's Habs out-gritted them in their own barn. Rawhide on a 48-goal pace, of course. Pomme playing like he don't wanna hear none of this nonsense about Monty being our #1. GYFHG!
And I'm not criticizing you in the slightest. I highly doubt Jake is traded, he wants to be there and is well liked in the locker room. Primeau will be the odd man out.
Some fans want to trade the vets for picks. Who won that game tonight? The old vet line of Monahan, Pearson and Lep with a strong performance from Jake Allen. Nuff said.
I questioned Gally's abilities a couple threads back. I'm happy to state I was wrong. While he may have slowed down, the old kidA is still in there and it's got to be energizing for the young guys on this team to see him drive the net and scoring goals. Hopefully some of that rubs off on a couple of these youngsters and they can pick up the mantle.
If Monahan stays healthy he will be VERY valuable at the deadline. The Habs are already owed a first round pick just for taking him off of Calgary's hands (look at the conditions on CapFriendly and if you figure it out let me know :-) ). He in theory would fetch a very high round pick if he keeps up his play, maybe a first, but a second for sure. And they could, in theory, if he hits free agency, sign him again if desired so they could have Monahan and 2 high picks for absolutely nothing. The 2 picks for sure.
As moe has suggested, certain teams with championship aspirations may come calling for some of the veterans on the Habs. I don't know about the rest of you but I am tired of watching losing hockey and kinda, sorta hoping for them to lose to secure a really high draft pick. Two seasons of that is enough. This season, I want them to win as many games as possible. Raise your hand if you enjoyed watching Pez score in OT and do the Tiger Williams tribute after in Buffalo last March? I sure did! That extra point probably cost them a shot at one of the big 4 C's in June but I don't care. That was huge for team morale. I want more of that.
So, trading vets, OK but only if the return is more than a late first round pick. I want a good young prospect who is NHL ready AND a pick. Who should HuGo trade if the price is right? Right off the bat, maybe David Savard but he is francophone so probably not. I would keep Monahan, hands down their best center, only 28 lots left in the tank. I would hang on to Tanner Pearson, reminds me of Toffoli who they should have kept. KidG, nope, career Hab, don't care about the contract, they can always find a spot for him. Maybe Jake Evans or Dvo but only if Beck is ready. Josh, he is still effective in his own way, not going to score a lot but good physical presence I'm keeping him as well. Jake Allen, maybe at the deadline but I wouldn't. He is still too valuable in the room and a good fall back position if Monty doesn't pan out. Not sold on him yet. Army, sure if you can find a taker.
Anyway, not sure what's up with Suzuki, he doesn't look right, hurt maybe and trying to keep the Iron Man streak going? CC, not getting a lot of open looks, the opposition are keying in on him. RHP is not a good fit with those two, makes the line way too small.
Finally, in total agreement with moe, give the pathetic leaf nothing. Nor the stinkin' beaners. Effem.
3rd game in 4 nights, I will gladly take a tie (aka OT/SO loss).
I think our former friend Toffee is playing for NJ now, isn't he? Looks like Savard is out for a while, broken hand maybe? We get Petry-lite Gus Lindstrom, 0 points and -6 in 4 AHL games... ouch!
Also, bonus, the game is on tsn tonight for us unilingual anglos, so no asshat gary gawley to ruin it.
Dang, the injury bug again! Buffalo is where BBQ first got his foot/ankke hurt early in the 2019-20 season if memory serves - the injury that probably still hasn't fully healed after he kept playing on it.
At least the new medical staff is smart enough to shut Savvy down before it gets worse.
So I totally missed the game last night...Monday night game caught me off guard. Gonne be AWOL again tonight as I got an early start Wednesday...and what's with a 715 start?
Tomorrow is a day off for Montreal but at the first opportunity the players and coaches need to watch video of the Devils PP to see how to operate one.
We are only missing the generational player at number one or other numbers. Jack Hughes is a McDavid light at least, and I would not trade him for Cpt Underpants.
The Columbus Blue Fuckits, minus Laine on tap for tonight. Powerhorse will score two, and Nature will have a killer game. But we sure are thin on D until we get our Ghoul back.
I wouldn't take the BJs too lightly, they have some bite in them...
Interesting interview with Mark Chipman of the Jets ... he says rebuilds can take 5, 7 even 10-12 years ... if that's true, and it quite possibly is, Habs fans should hunker down for the long haul.
Shane Pinto ... Ouch! Hope he wasn't betting on his own team...
Poker night so no game for me tonight. And golf planned for the morning, so I'll have to go easy tonight. Could be the last outing of the season so here's to a fine day and some friendly bounces.
Good luck tonight and tomorrow! There's football on tonight as well. I don't have much interest in watching Columbus. There are new episodes of Lower Decks and Loki today also.
We are making the playoffs. Can we win the cup without a superstar, maybe we can. I was searching arourd the dial looking for WKRP and I came accross Jeff Marek and Glen Healy talking about hockey. I swear I puked in my mouth. I have never heard anything so pathetic, I might never turn on my radio agian.
Happy Retirement SuperPleXXX, you were a great Hab and a good soldier to go to the wretched leaf for a short stint. Luckily, you weren't there long enough to pick up that stench.
super plexxxe, if we can find 3 of those we can win the cup. On a same positive note. I have a NAD 3029 I bought in 1981. It has been the source of my adiiou, since then. Okay I bought a Yamaha in 1995, but when it failed I went back to the good old NAD. Yesterday I got it back from repair it cost me $149 but it means nothing because I paid $200 for it 40 years ago.
Ryan O rielly did not sign with the leaf because he did not want to live under the microsope. We shouls all learn from this, teacher leave those kids alone. If you want flowers dont pick them.
It's actually sickening the amount of gambling ads, and this before the games start. Then they punish some young man who is susceptible to the effectiveness of said ads. I assume they realize their hypocrisy and just don't care because the bottom line is all that matters.
The greedy owners have embraced the devil. Sooner or later, somebody important will get caught betting on something. Just a matter of time. The NFL is no better. I hate all of it. I have the TV muted most of the time.
Slaf should be in Laval. No question. And don't replace him with Joshua Roy. Leave him there to season for the year.
RHP was a great story last year. But he isn't a first line player. NiCole need a big, skilled winger. I hoped Josh Anderson was that guy but nope. So I'd say that player isn't on this team yet. Unless it's Dach but I think he may be the eventual #1 C.
HuGo are all about collecting draft capital so I predict that player arrives via trade. If the Habs continue to surprise and look like a potential playoff team in Feb/March it might even be as soon as the trade deadline. Otherwise it's the off season UFA or trade.
I don't think Slaf is playing that badly..MSL is giving him enough rope and he's not particularly costing the Habs ...as his confidence grows, so will his production...give the boy Time...
@UK3X, I know advanced stats are the 'new' thing but I still go by the eye test. I've watched many players come in the league as 18 year old's and you can pretty much pick out the ones that 'have it'. Slaf doesn't. No hockey IQ, just a big body that played really well against poor competition at a couple of international events, that Nick Bobrov took a shine to. At best he might be a second line winger who scores 15 a year. The Habs didn't like Shane Wright, fine, take the BPA who was Logan Cooley. The Habs will regret not taking Michkov.
I plan to not follow the top draft prospects lists this year because I just know they will pick another 'project' and not the sure thing. Good on them for picking Caufield though, but even a blind squirrel finds an acorn now and then.
I think he came be effective but looks lost and unsure what to do with the puck at crucial times. I'm saying give him top line and powerplay time in Laval. But I also think anybody not named Caufield or Suzuki are potential trade chips in Hughes' book.
Damn. Looks like Matthew Perry 'Chandler' is gone too. At age 54. He battled the addiction demons for a long time...not sure if that was it but in any case RIP to somebody gone too soon.
Oh man, I've been trying to figure out all night who Armia replaced and a buddy texted me after his goal and said so much for Ylonen. I feel bad I forgot him...but he hasn't really stood out has he?
We lost a friend. Rip. Slaf we can only hope he develops. Kid Ko seems to be on the way up. Ghost in the red machine and Red Baron are our new dynamic duo. Jake the Snake is gone for a first before Christmas. We retain half of salary.
Not sure. Injuries will play a role. I felt from the start of the season, on paper at least, they could be a .500 team. And of course, goaltending will play a big role.
100 point season ya hoo, we are going to the show. For some reason I cant comment from my secure location, I only get failed to comment try later.
ReplyDeleteRaquel was so hot.
ReplyDeleteAna Vs Raquel, not to be mean Ana is a very very fine women, but its the bay of pigs.
DeleteYes natural Raquel was so much hotter than plastic everyone
ReplyDeleteRed!!!
ReplyDeleteFirst goal by a D this season?
DeleteLove seeing those vintage Sabres jerseys.
ReplyDeleteRed Barron!
Not to get into the damn betting thing...but I've got the over/under at 3.5 for the number of dumb drop passes in the neutral zone for this PP.
ReplyDelete1
Delete2
Delete3
DeleteOnly 3 because Buf controlled the puck for the last 30 seconds ffs
DeleteShitNet really hates Habs fans. Another game with gawley yapping constantly. I'll have to find a different feed for sound.
ReplyDeleteGot the Buffalo feed, much, much better.
ReplyDeleteGreat kill!
ReplyDeleteBoy, a lot of empty seats and a lot of red sweaters in Buffalo.
ReplyDeletePomme is in season
ReplyDeleteHey moeman, I notice zero rings on any of Future-Marner's and Future-Matthews' fingers, wot? Hah!
ReplyDeleteThey keep tgeir hands out of view for a reason.
DeleteIt's amazing, Buffalo PP literally passed the puck around at will with several high quality chances. Jake Allen stood his ground. Why can't Montreal set up like that? Marty won't be able to deflect those questions all year.
ReplyDeleteThat's a cross-check???
ReplyDelete"good call by the referee" according to Galley
DeleteBuffalo guys (Rob Ray is the colour guy) do not criticize the Habs, only describe the action and offer only positives. Unlike the biased, hateful shitnet clowns. Especially that fucking galley.
DeleteI'll take one point tonight please.
ReplyDeleteRHP is killing the Suzuki line. They need a big winger. Or Monahan.
ReplyDeleteLep!!!
ReplyDeleteHe's not dead yet is right.
Lep!!
ReplyDeleteThat was an old school kidG goal.
ReplyDeleteTanner Pearson is a good player.
Interesting...Skinner scored for Buffalo and he's scored more goals vs the Habs than any other team. And Gallagher has scored more vs Buffalo than any other team.
ReplyDeleteAnd at some point this year if he stays healthy, Skinner will hit game1000...and has never played a playoff game.
DeleteC'mon man...
ReplyDeleteJob 1 - fix the PP.
ReplyDeleteJob 2 - figure out how to stay out of the box.
They 'could' challenge for a playoff spot with those two fixes.
What a shift by Savard and save by Jake!
ReplyDeleteCan't clear a puck to save their lives...
ReplyDeleteDon't score another. We don't want a 2 goal lead.
ReplyDeleteLOL. Slaf, he's not useless but damn close. But, HuGo says "He's a 1st overall pick he's gonna be great!" Sure he is.
ReplyDeleteGiddyip. Rawhide!!!
ReplyDeleteRawhìiìiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide!!!!
ReplyDeleteTanner Pearson now there's a player. Kinda reminds me of Toffoli. Loved that guy.
ReplyDeleteOh Oh the dreaded empty net
ReplyDeleteW.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jake. You looked mahvelous.
DeleteProgress! Division rival on the ropes early in the season and MSL's Habs out-gritted them in their own barn. Rawhide on a 48-goal pace, of course. Pomme playing like he don't wanna hear none of this nonsense about Monty being our #1. GYFHG!
ReplyDeleteNice win. Might be up on the mighty leaf in the standings.
ReplyDeletePomme might end up being the #1 trade deadline want from many teams.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm not criticizing you in the slightest. I highly doubt Jake is traded, he wants to be there and is well liked in the locker room. Primeau will be the odd man out.
DeleteZero disrespect to pomme. I want to keep him. He could pull off a Priceyan playoff performance.
DeleteSome fans want to trade the vets for picks. Who won that game tonight? The old vet line of Monahan, Pearson and Lep with a strong performance from Jake Allen. Nuff said.
ReplyDeleteJust suggesting, as the season progresses that teams will be lined up for Hab vets. Just don't trade a single one to the leaf.
ReplyDeleteI questioned Gally's abilities a couple threads back. I'm happy to state I was wrong. While he may have slowed down, the old kidA is still in there and it's got to be energizing for the young guys on this team to see him drive the net and scoring goals. ReplyDeleteIs Jack Hughes ever NOT on the ice?
ReplyDeleteWell I'm done. We all know what the team needs to do to improve.
ReplyDeleteYup, I'm out too. What a set of hands Toffoli has. He's definitely what the Habs need. Oh wait....
ReplyDeleteJust scored a trick last night, but we've got Heineman and Mesar (I think it was)...

ReplyDeleteNJ is what we hope the Habs become ... young, fast ...

DeleteMoneyHab!
ReplyDeleteThanks for keeping us posted. Got the football game on, don't want to jinx it.
DeleteHeading to OT with Lep in the box for the first minute of it.
ReplyDeleteWhiskey!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOK, I'll drink to that! Cheers!
DeleteWhiskey is the one elite talent we have. Not saying I am kicking the rest of the team out of bed for eating crakers, but he is a cheese.
DeleteSaw the hilites, looked like I missed a good one...after the first period.
ReplyDeleteUp $24.50 tonight, woohoo! Half my green fee at least.
