  1. Margot Robbie is drop dead gorgeous. She made her 'full' appearance in 'The Wolf of Wall Street'. Yowza!

    2. She's basically good in everything. Learned to figure skate and affect a deadpan, light appalachian twangy accent even (Tonya).

Agree with my fellow old FHFriends. Margot is a natural beauty and steals the screen in every frame. I watched Babylon this weekend, she is a wonderful actress. The movie wasn't as bad as I read when it came out. Some weird moments (party scenes) but a decent flic.

she is a platform upon which unearthly beauty can be built. To see the real girl which is still spectaular

  7. Nature! Empty net goal is his 10th in the last ten games. A win, but my God, they played just shit hockey.

Second straight game no PP time.

  8. In a way it will be good when that very distracting top pic changes. I might have to take up smoking.

After we assume they lose to FLA tomorrow, Habs will play 13 games in March. Realistically I could see them winning no more than three. I'll always cheer for them to win, but if they only won the one game vs the leaf I would be perfectly happy too.

Finish off the year with 10 more in April. Again, just the one win vs the leaf would be great, but in reality, I again see them winning no more than three of those games.

Maybe they grab 3 or 4 OTLs along the way too. So something along the lines of 6-14-3, 15 more points to end at 69. Perfect. They should finish in the 5-7 lottery slot because the teams below them are even worse.

By all accounts there are lots of good options in the top 8.

I'll keep 1/2 watching to see how young Slaf is doing (he's slowed the past few games) and how our Captain (2nd most goals in February btw) is doing, maybe he keeps it going to get 82 points.

And after the deadline and after NCAA is done, it'll be interesting to see if some other youngsters are promoted to the big team to finish the season.

  10. I read that The Full Monty gets the start in Sunrise tomorrow night. I would guess the 3 goalie rotation is coming to a close. KH probably doesn't want whoever he is trading to get injured.

  13. I think this game will get out of hand pretty darn quick, I just hope it isn't a blowout.

    Go Arizona!

I'm going to watch Shogun tonight instead. SiM always keeps us updated on the scores anyway.

I have Shogun on my list.
I was iffy but a buddy tells me Mr and Mrs Smith is worth a watch. On Amazon I believe.

      Delete
    2. I remember watching the original Shogun series back in the 1970's with Richard Benjamin (Dr. Kildare), that's how old I am! Ha!

I really like the actor Hiroyuki Sanada, he's been in different movies and TV shows I've seen, plays the quintessential serious Japanese dude.

I have to re-watch the Last Samurai with Tom Cruise, that was a great movie. There is a documentary about Tom Cruise's career on Amazon, I think, it was really good. We watched 'American Made' last night (a re-watch) that is some crazy shit, his character, pilot Barry Seal, was working for the CIA, the Medellin cartel and who knows else. Lots of historical shenanigans by Uncle Sam.

    3. Wait, it's poker night so no game for me.

      Richard Chamberlain, right?

Mini series of that era were great. Roots, North and South come to mind.

You have to watch Tia Pan as well, both books by the same author. I watched first ep of the final season of the walking dead, and it looks like the best season ever of a franchise I watched no matter how bad it was.

    1. He sold off a lot of stuff but I never thought he did it JUST to fill his own pockets, that was a side benefit. He put Canada first, even if he was wrong about the best way to do that more often than not. RIP Brian, le bon gar de Baie-Comeau.

    2. Also, his work to pressure the Commonwealth to get Mandela free and the good progress on environmental issues (think acid rain) were both commendable policies. They just don't make Conservatives like him anymore.

      Delete
    3. Yes, he put pressure on the US to clean up their acid rain pollution and they did it. He was a Green before the Greens were a thing! He helped end apartheid and free Nelson Mandela. They interviewed John Manley, former Liberal deputy PM on TV and he said Mulroney was a very gracious person. He had time for anybody. I don't recall him saying a bad word to his political opponents. That's the problem with today's politics, since trump came on the scene, it's all about insults and belittling people. It's terrible.

Mulroney was a great PM just like Disco is great music compared to RAP. He did some good things and he allededly did some things that might have put a lesser man in the crowbar hotel. His best and maybe no one else could have got Ray Gun to do it was acid rain. His worst was sellling Canada to the USA for magic beans.

I expect Hugo to emerge from trade day with two more re claims like DACH Vader and Hook. I expect we will end up with 5 or 6 players making 8 Mill a year. Roughly half the cap. The Toronto formula will never work. We have two players already at 8 Nature and Whisky, I think the next will be Slaf. The final two will be Rainman and Rock Hudon. Put those five on the ice at the same time and they will score a goal every shift. Every fucking shift a goal, Buttman will make a rule they cant play together.
I got nothing at Tankathon. If we can get Canden Lindstrom we might be set at center for a decade.

    1. I'm watching the Tampa gees. Brian Engblom did a pretty fair take on the 1st period and spoke a lot about how good the Habs defence was at pushing the bolts to the outside for most of the period.

  34. Jake Evans was drafted in round 7, 207th and wears 71. Hence Sevans.

In that 2014 draft, of the 6 players drafted by the Habs, 2 made it to the NHL.
Brent Lernout out played 21 games.
1st round pick (#26) L'homme Nikita Scherbak played 37 games, 29 with the Habs.i remember he had a great post draft interview. David Pastrnak was taken one pick earlier.

  46. Meh, probably another shootout loss, gotta give props to the kid Primeau tonight, he's battled hard...

Another good effort. Good Enough to lock us at number 7. Maybe Ottawa can catch us or maybe we get a good roll at the lottery.
I like the Russkie from LA and Columbus benched the whole line of giant skilled Russkies becasuse the coach thought they played like the Harlem Globtrottrers? We could trade Powder Horse for the whole line.

  50. The AX-man had a strong game last night. You can see he is more disciplined as he prowls the periphery of a scrum but doesn't interfere if it isn't necessary. He is definitely a keeper. Tweed was steady. However, Hondacivic had a couple of brain cramps that lead to clear cut breakaways and Slick Nick, oh my, the cardinal sin -- an attempted cross ice pass at the blue line on a PP no less resulting in a shortie. The Habs have given up more of those than anyone else in the world. Still, all said, the last two games were solid efforts. I would have tried Hook in the shootout before Yodel, I think Jesse's time as a Hab is winding down, he will probably be part of a package deal.

Well we stayed close with two good teams so there’s that
I think we’re kind of at an inflection point we have the defense figured out and the goalies will figure it out we now need some offense but not through the draft we need a young stud and we have the picks and the assets to trade for one
I just don’t want to see them paying 11/12 million for one
Interesting to see PLD getting 8.5 and not doing much
We need two 6 million dollar men like Steve Austin
Two of those with our top line of nature Slav and cc midget and no 2 line of dach vader TJ and our new Roi passes my smell test
I’m thinking the powerhorse has fallen to a third forth line checker/banger
Bring in two studly types and I think we’re solid enough to sit back and let the universe unfold
    Go Habs

    2. I have no doubt that Hughes has somebody in mind to bring in and score some goals. It will be somebody around 25ish to fit the profile. As CHester said, and I have said it as well, KH isn't going to draft 25 kids over the next two years. Kent will be like a kid in a candy shop at the Vegas draft.

      Delete
    3. CHester4:11 PM

      Agree
A couple of 24/25 year old Steve Austins and we would be just tinkering beyond that point.
It's nice the we have been giving that HP guy and Yodler a chance at minutes but those two are not the solution they are just flash in the pan kind of guys and came along at a weak moment for the team
I'm all for giving Mr White a chance but if he hasn't discovered himself by now it's not likely things will change
We need two TJ Hookers or two Dach Vaders
Two more guys like that gives us three legit lines and with Powerhorse and The Pezzer Sevens etc we will be fielding a decent bunch and we still have Owen and some swedish guys in the pipe.
I am looking forward to contending for a PO spot next year I'm getting itchy.
      Go Habs

  53. I ask forgiveness, but I wonder if Sid will want to finish his career in Pittsburgh. He has to know the jig is up in Steeltown, Boy Wonder will be selling players left and right this week. Sid would be a great 2nd center behind Nature and would greatly enhance the PP even at 37 years old.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No I've been thinking of this for some time. The way it would have to work is Scoobie would ask Sid if he wants to move on during (and to help) the rebuild. Then determine if he wants the best chance to win a 4th cup or to choose his favourite team (of course, the Habs).

I wouldn't try to hazard a guess at what that cost would be, even at 37, but imho Suzuki is the only untouchable.

      Delete
    2. I've heard Colorado mentioned as a possible destination for Sid, with good friend MacKinnon, but could the Avs even afford him? It might be tough to fit him in salary-wise.

As to what Doobie would want, who knows, but I would offer Winnipeg's 1st this year, plus either of the 2025 1st rounders, an A prospect forward and a Dman NOT named Guhle, Reinbacher or Hutson. I would even throw in the rights to Price if they want cap space.

Anyway, it would all be up to Sid to agree to anything. I think Pitt would rather lose Malkin than Crosby. Fun to think about these scenarios.

      Delete
    3. CHester8:39 PM

Well if Dumbass has any say in the future of Sid he would be true to form and sign him for 8 years at 11.5 yearly
