You also shouldn’t Google Chris Evan’s wife
Portuguese I forget her name but wow
Although maybe a wife shouldn’t be allowed to be our monthly girl
      I dunno
      Go Habs

  3. How sad. 3 quick goals and nobody here to care.

This rebuild needs to take a big step forward. I hope HuGo have plans to turn all of those assets into a bonafide sniper in the off season.

  5. Pretty good period...CP30 is gonna be busy tonight.

  7. After letting the BJs get away with murder all over thd ice, finally the refs call them for a chintzy hook.

  8. Primo tonight. Looks like a guy who wants to push for the #1 spot. Great to see.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Know what I miss about PK? He could always loft the puck out of the zone without icing it when they were under pressure. Why don't more of our D figure that out?

    ReplyDelete
  10. I didn't get to see anything but pure shit hockey, except for wicked good goaltending. CP30 gets a well-earned SO. Bravo, Primo!

    ReplyDelete
  11. OK then, usually if you get a shutout you get the next start right? Goaltending controversy already? If it's not one thing it's another with this bunch.

SiM is right. Habs. Need. A. Sniper. Period.

  13. The NHL season is winding down and soon the Habs will be on the sidelines leaving us to look forward to next fall and hopefully a healthy team than can compete for a spot in the dance.

Meanwhile, NFL free agency is in full swing and those of us who follow football (moe, Saint Paddy and myself) are watching with interest as our teams try to get competitive as well. moe's Steelers look like they are getting former Super Bowl champion QB Russell Wilson. Saint Paddy's Patriots and my NY Giants are in full rebuild mode. I'm not up on what the Pats are doing but I read both teams are looking at Bears QB Justin Fields in a possible trade situation. The Bears hold the #1 pick in the draft so they could take a QB and make Fields expendable, but it looks like the Giants will stick with Daniel Jones for another year and they signed back up QB Drew Lock out of Seattle yesterday. The Giants let Saquon Barkley and Xavier McKinney got to free agency so they could have cap space to rebuild their lines and signed a couple of good defensive players already. I don't know what the Giants will do at the Draft but former Giants RB Tiki Barber thinks they will take a skill player, probably WR Rome Adunze. They also signed RB Devin Singletary to replace Barkley, I always liked him, a scatback slippery type who can find the holes instead of trying to power his way through. Looking forward to the NFL Draft in April to see how it all shakes out.

The Players golf tournament starts tomorrow, lots of big names will be there. I've always wondered if I could hit that famous 17th island green, I am a lot better with my lob wedge than I used to be.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The Pats signed former Patriot Jacoby Brissett to a one year deal. This tells me he is a place holder and they plan to take a QB with pick #3. And with the Running Back musical chairs game, they landed tier 2 RB Antonio Gibson from Washington. They have a lot of cap room, I'm expecting to see them take a run at Tee Higgins who wants out of Cincy.

Sure would be fun to try that 17th hole. I'd probably hit it one out of 10 times.
Lots of Canadians in the field, hope at least a couple of them do well as we charge towards the Olympics (don't really care) but then the President's Cup in Montreal in the fall! I think Mike Weir will take at least 2 Canadians. One will be Nick Taylor. The other Corey Connors or Adam Hadwin - we'll see how they play over the next couple of months, be nice if three of them could make the team.

      Delete
    2. I remember them signing Brissett but didn't know about Gibson out of Washington.

I forget how far the distance is on #17 but I think it's around 140 yds. With no wind I would use an 8 iron and just pray to hit the green. I wouldn't care where the flag was.

Nick Taylor and Corey Connors will probably be the two who make it.

      Delete
    3. Cool video on X of Nick Taylor's caddy explaining how he prepares for #17.

Yeah it's def between a 7 and 8 for me. I 'generally' consider 150 the distance for my 7. Just as easy is making correct contact with the ball :)

      Delete
  14. It seems like running backs are a dime a dozen now. The new way to build an NFL team now is QB, edge rushers, the lines and WRs. RBs are now an after thought.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I don't know about you guys but I much prefer Pez in the lineup than Yodel. (Y) just doesn't offer much that I can see. The opposition are much more aware when #55 is on the ice.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. True. Y is just yoyoing around on the ice ineffectively for the most part while Pez smashes people and gets or makes the odd scoring chance happen.

      Delete
    2. CHester10:42 PM

      Agree
They talk about Y’s great shot but he has nothing to show for it and it’s not like he wasn’t given the chance
He’s had lots of ice time whereas they make pez sit and wait and pez has much better stats than Y
Perhaps they are showcasing him for trade bait
I’m thinking the team will be close to gelling come October 2024 I think pez has a spot on it
There is no trade rumours with him and you can’t have enough players on a team like him
      Go Habs

      Delete
    3. Pez creates way more turnovers because guys are quicker to give up the puck when he is coming at them. Yodel is a RFA after this season I would just bid him adieu and open up a contract spot.

  24. Shouldn't let MM out in OT, big time liability, thinks he's Jeff Petry but he ain't.

  25. Another 1 goal loss ..Habs lead the league. And the PK is strong ATM...

How about those refs !? cFlee ~ moe

    ReplyDelete
  27. Rough night for Maths in the give away dept. And yeah lots of whiffs all around and the passing not crisp. A miracle they got into OT really. But after the first 10 minutes the did a good job of tightening up.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I missed the first period but I saw a pretty determined effort from Montreal the rest of the way. Slaf needs to take the shot when it's there, too many missed passes into a crowd. And Matheson, good lord, he is a turnover machine, always trying the fancy shit as the last man back. He needs to be put in his place.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Trying too hard in front of the home crowd, I reckon. He still eats a lot of minutes but those little things he tries don't work so well against high-end talent, especially this deep into the season.

      Delete
    2. As the younger D get better, he will find himself in a lower pairing if he doesn't smarten up and play a better defensive game. Hopefully Rock Hutson will supplant Matheson on the PP soon.

I'm still pissed that hnit preferred to carry knucklehead Tie Domi's 1000th game ceremony and not the celebration of Boom Boom's life at the Molson Center the same night he passed away. That was even before leafnet took over the broadcasts. So disrespectful to a true star and legend of the game. Only in tranna where they still worship thugs over stars.

  31. Anybody here excited about David Reinbacher's arrival soon? No? Me neither. He was just another example of the old school Habs thinking: Take a defenceman, the safe pick. Likely won't move the needle for the Habs scoring woes. I saw some rumours on a shady Habs fan site, young Logan in Laval will get a turn with the big club and KD might play a few games before the end of the year. Now that would be exciting! Apparently he and DVo travelled to Calgary.

Wee Davey, the littlest Zamboni, gets his number retired by Chicoutimi, good for him. He always had snow on the seat of his pants. But he was an eMpTy favourite!

  58. Was visiting with a couple of my bros for St Paddy's Day weekend (and my 55th). The retired one and his mrs have built a beautiful retirement home on the shores of Miramichi Bay. Helluva spot but I'll need to visit in the summer to see if the mosquitoes airlift me out to sea before I give a final review.

Didn't turn hockey on other than to watch the hi-lites Sunday morning. 'hi-lites' is a strong word.

    The tank is on.

All the best to MSL and family, whatever the situation.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't think there is any tanking per se going on. They are trying hard, it's just that after the Suzuki line there's nothing there. Plus, the defence is godawful at times, especially what pair Gaffeson is on. If I was Kaiden Guhle I'd ask to be separated from that dude. Anyway, soewhere between 5-7 this year, I'm hoping for a really good forward, Lindstrom, Catton or Eiserman.

      Delete
    2. Oh yeah don't get me wrong. I don't believe there is an 'intentional' tank happening. I would say no team ever does that, but it was never more obvious than the year the leaf did it for Underpants.

Like you say, there just isn't much beyond the top line. With their remaining schedule I think they finish #5. 4th is 'possible'. But no higher than 7th. I'm just so curious to know if Kent will deal that pick in a package to get a known sniper commodity. I'd be fine with that depending on the return.

      Delete
    3. Last year and this one, Chicago intentionally tanked. Without out a doubt and without shame.

      San Jose doing the same.

Oh, we cant win in the playoffs how can we play a weaker team? Well guess what, they got a weaker opponent in 2021 and still lost! Bwahahahahahaha! Sucks to be you CotU, losers for the last 57 years. To exit the conf the road goes thru Baston and The Beaners.
CotU knows this so the whining will continue
It will be hilarious to witness.
With all the picks Hugo has there will be movement on the offensive side of the team for sure.
Having faith I will be content to witness.
I feel we will be contending for a slot in the show next spring barring an injury parade.
With the trade deadline in 2025 as well as 2 more no 1 picks in the 2025 draft I can feel us starting to phoenix. I spent my youth watching The Cup take it's usual route. The last decade or so reveals just how rare a moment it has become.
Balance in the team and belief in the room are everything The leaf can keep their underpants and jonny toronto and the spew from the mouthpieces in the media. They don't have balance on the ice or belief in the room. They will crash and burn, much to my/our delight.
      Go Habs
