  6. Confession: legit realised my old #22 Begin T was what I was wearing during the Habs' only two wins so far, so scurried aroind yil I found it and put it on presently. JFW!

  7. Saw some of the pregame ceremony, then missed the first 2 minutes of the game and they're down 2 already ffs! Embarrassing in front of that group of legends. I don't care about injuries, that is unforgivable.

  8. That 3rd goal brought to you by Lame Hutson. He creeps into the game every once in awhile.

  9. Watching Marty's squad against the mature Rags is more like watching a pile of big puppies at the dog park than an NHL team.

    ReplyDelete
  10. With that goal, this team has now allowed more goals in 8 minutes of this game than the Habs allowed in the entire 76-77 season.

  11. Could be worse. Could be down 3-0 to Columbus.

  18. And that is why you keep AX in the lineup.

    ReplyDelete

    1. And that is exactly, yes, why Ax needs to be in the fucking lineup. You need your Ax, Marty!

    Well that was smelly
I think we saw the soft pink underbelly tonight
Love MSL but think we will get to the point where we need a little structure
Or a lot more than what we currently have
Don’t want to be that guy beating the dead horse but that’s four in a row and tonight had a we are missing something feel
    Anyway
    On to tomorrow!
    Go Habs

  21. Yep, this rebuild is going to take a little longer than we thought.

When I was at trivia I saw an update on one of the TVs that the Rags were up 4 zip and there was no point in putting the game on when I got home. That had to be embarrassing for the 70s guys to watch. Shame on the current team.

With our early victories to start the season including a beat of the leaf we clearly had a bad case of InTheMixitis
Using the rangers as a good example
We are missing a Bread Man at least one grade A goalie and at least one snarling large mother fucker forward
I know that’s not our style but it’s 2024 and a couple of those are very useful provided they can also play hockey
I know we have The Ax Man but according to Master Windoo he is a Jedi, keeper of the peace, not a soldier he will even scores not shit disturb
I am encouraged by the vets on the fourth
Andy the PKer and The Gally-ay-tor playing with Sevens who is sparkling all by himself
If we are going to be InTheMixing it’s going to be much later in our campaign
So bring on the smellies let’s get them over with
Let’s continue to grow and learn to play with one another
We have pieces we can move around and experiment with
But the faithful are starting to grumble
We needed The Wool Man to ride in on his horse and that was a stinger that still smarts
    But we focus and reload
Two from The Captain was a good omen
    Let’s keep the faith
    Go Habs

    1. I hate to say it but ... I think the problem is : coaching. I know they are (mostly) young but some of these guys are in their 3rd year in the league, Captain Nature has been there since 2020. Why can't they play defence, even the most basic version? I've never seen a team so disorganized in their own end and get pinned in there so easily. It's indeed early but if they can't figure this out there is no 'in the mix' to be had. The bloom may be coming off the HuGo rose.

      I’m cautiously in agreement
      I’ve played sports
There has to be some form of system
Remember doharm nobody could understand it much less play his system
The opposite of him was chocula
With his mind numbing approach to a beautiful game
Let’s face it MSL talks floors both upper and lower and when you don’t have the puck etc which is wonderful
But then the effin blue shirts come in and demonstrate how to play hockey
If Marty is going to be Marty put in place some experienced defense and offense assistant coaches who lay down the framework
Where’s lemaire and green or Larry
      Couldn’t hurt
      Go Habs

  24. I'm watching Marinaro's podcast from last night and Max Lapierre is his guest. He nails what is wrong with the Canadiens. NAILS it. Sometimes the truth hurts.

    ReplyDelete
  25. There were two things that Lapierre said about the team that stood out to me. First, they have little speed. He said Cole and Lane are agile but are not speedy. Nick, good puck handler but not fast. Josh is fast but doesn't know where to go. The rest, meh. They are not gritty, they don't win many puck battles and that is obvious to even the casual viewer. Second, don't blame the coaches. They fired chokula, Randy C., eMTy, clod and doharm. What about the players? Max said they need to change something in the locker room, make a trade, send somebody to the minors, do something. These guys know they are safe. Who is going to take their chair? There doesn't seem to be any urgency to turn things around and start winning. They've been steam rolled 3 out of the last 4 games. Hello, maybe have a team meeting? Jake Evans said after the Rags game they are tired of losing and knowing they've lost by the end of the first. Better wake up then buddy, time's a'wastin'...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I'm not trying to be negative just pointing out that being young can't be an excuse all the time. Yes, throw out the NY game as an anomaly as the Rags are a powerhouse team ready to win and the Habs were missing several key players plus Kirby who is just a shadow of himself. But, like Max said, they need a spark of some kind. If they don't want to change any of the players, at least put AX back in and turn him loose. Get some energy early with some big hits or something. The Habs just seem like they are dead in the water too many times. BTW, Mr. Barron better learn to keep his head up and who is on the ice. Trouba's hit was shoulder to the head but he gets away with that all the time. He hits to hurt not separate you from the puck. Intentionally.

      Delete
    2. I was just thinking, Trouba must have trained at the Cobra Kai karate dojo under John Kreese (Martin Kove) and lives by their motto : Strike first. Strike hard. No mercy. 🥋

    Well
Clearly we’re all going to die
    Marty has no system
    He hates The Ax Man
    Our team is slow
Our team gives up after one period
    We can’t score
    We can’t defend
    We need assistant coaches
The bad guys are hurting our good guys
    Our goalie can’t catch
And if that isn’t bad enough
Maxim La Turtle knows what’s wrong

    We’re all going to die

It’s pretty clear the MSL honeymoon is coming to an end
The criticism is start to ramp up as expectations increase
There are more and more articles being written about Marty and his defensive approach
I’m thinking the rable are grumbling
The next step will be to break out the torches
I am but a humble Habs fan but lots has been said of the talent level of especially our D men
I’m really hoping this turns around soonest
And MSL better not be playing any mind fuck with The Ax Man
The amount of patience given BVK while he stumbles around compared to Ax getting sent down and benched is uneaven at best
    CHester has one eyebrow raised
    Go Habs

  34. I think the media is starting to turn on Coach Marty. If they beat the drums hard enough the fans will follow soon enough. I will just say I am very disappointed in the start of the season. The players talk the talk but actions speak louder than words. Show some effort please.

    ReplyDelete
  35. CHester2:29 PM

Marty came in after Doharm had almost completed his confidence snuffing overly complicated system of who knows what
MSL restored CCs and others confidence
He calmed the waters and had everybody singing combaya
He spent his practices explaining time and space to wide eyed kids telling them everything is ok just have fun and there was zero pressure to produce from fan’s management and press
Well just as the players need to take the next step so does Marty
I hope he’s got another gear
I remember that interview with John Cooper last year where he was leaning against a door frame being Clint Eastwood cool
Well watching the pressers with Marty he’s got that Cooper cool goin on
    I fear for Marty
If you take a step back and look at the forwards there has been some progress
The PP yes the PK yes but the D no
    Hard no
And if it’s a who’s cooler competition between him and Mr Ax Man little Marty looses
I fear for our little Marty
This place will eat you up and spit you out
If he’s smart he’ll put Mr Ax back in and hire a respected D coach
    Just some thoughts
    Go Habs

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't believe Molson/HuGo will ever fire Marty. He will leave on his own terms if that's what he decides. Marty is capable of good one on one instructions with the forwards, it's the Dmen where it gets sketchy. Is Robidas the guy? Who knows.

      Delete
    2. Robidas seemed to do great last year. Keeping either Tweed or HondaCivic over BVK might've been wiser. Hindsight being what it is. This is a very young, inexperienced D corps compared to the teams they've played so far.

      Delete
  36. I feel I should remind everybody that the high-calibre teams and packed schedule the Habs have had to start the season with is perhaps part of the reason they are off to a disappointing start. Ghoul and Slaf both out, now Red Barron. Anyway, Ax is in tonight and the Blues don't have Thomas. Expect a good effort tonight. GYFHG!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I hope you are right regarding the effort tonight. I also hope the goalies are focused to start the game so they don't find themselves in a hole out of the gate.
But, I have found myself casting an eye towards the Tankathon wheel already, one name has caught my attention --- Roger McQueen --- how could we not call him steve??

    ReplyDelete
  39. CHester6:38 PM

Seems all I read about is trading The Ax Man
You know we finally have someone who does what he does and MSL just picks away at him
If he gets traded cause msl picks away at him I’ll be rethinking MSL and his blabber talk
    Go Habs

    ReplyDelete
  40. I don't see it as MSL picking at AX. He's just telling it like it is, that AX needs to work on his defensive coverage, which AX himself has agreed hasn't been up to snuff. He gets a chance tonight to show the coach he's putting in the work and trending in the right direction.

As for the talk of trading him, I don't put an ounce of credibility towards stories that media and fans stir up in this market.

  54. Hey folks, I'm a little late to the party as I was watching on delay, watched the grandson play earlier. A couple of observations : as SiM said, a clean game for a change, probably because there were no headhunters on the ice. Hughes needs to go get a steady, veteran D to play the right side as #24 needs to go back to Laval and learn the defensive side of the game, way too many obvious mistakes being made. AX was steady, played within his limits. Fast Lane is just fine where he is and is quickly morphing into their best D. The Suzuki line is coming around, it was a Godsend putting Dach with NickCole, I hope they keep Kirby with them for a bit until he really gets going. No softies from Monty, that helps the team confidence. The fried-man blathering that Hughes is looking for that D and a forward with an edge. Make it so.

Finally, Oh dear, the SFU pets are not looking so good lately and the new El Capitan is struggling in the limelight, he ain't cut out for that role, maybe the wheels are starting to fall off that heap. We can only hope.

  56. A reminder to all, including myself, it is still October and all is not lost. Even though it's obvious there are things to clear up, a regulation W vs Philthy on Sunday and losses by the Sens and Drawings, Habs leapfrog 4 teams in the Atlantic, to sit above the 2 aforementioned, plus the wretched leaf and beaners, even if level in points.

Point being, there is a lot of time to right the ship and keep on improving. Get Ghuoul and Slaf back, maybe add that toughness the Fried Man was talking about (maybe get Fiver back?), maybe a veteran D and hang in there until Wool is back, and just maybe this team sticks around to 'stay in the mix' as the team's Brass like to put it.

They all should rewatch the video to reinforce that type of game. I'm not sure they can pull it off two games in a row but here's hoping. The Phuquers played yesterday as well so there will be two tired teams playing.

    2. Yep we all knew it was coming when he announced a 1% reduction in the HST starting April 1 (maybe it's a joke 🤣). After the Liberal leader promised a 2% reduction if they win the next election.

Honestly the party doesn't really seem to matter here in NS. This government seems more Liberal, where the former Liberal gov, led by Stephen "Stay the Blazes Home" McNeil was far more conservative, putting in anti-worker legislation in provincial unions and scrapping the film industry credits.

I think Houston feels pretty safe is why he's done this now, even though the first legislation he put in place is fixed election dates.

      Delete
    3. Yeah, I think Houston is safe. Higgs went off the rails the last year fighting with education people over trans kids and nominating an ultra right wing Christian nut job in the riding of Hampton where she didn't even live. Higgs was a great fiscal manager and rescued the province from bankruptcy but couldn't balance that with helping people with cost of living measures. He was too Scrooge-like in the end and cost him his government and his own riding. He too tried to buy votes with a 2% HST cut but when you do the math that only helps if you are buying a big ticket item. Saving a buck on a $50 buy doesn't move the needle.

  80. Geez, the fragility ekes into this team when you think all is good.

But they may just be in a wildcard spot for the moment.

  81. All's well that ends well. A good weekend of work for the boys after a week of bad press and fan bitching (me included). F U sfu !

Have to stop these goals 25 seconds apart
    Happens too often
So I’m liking the weekend results
Now to see if we can keep it going against the big boys in the east
    Go Habs

  83. The sfu still has their wretchedleaf ahead of the Habs based on goal differential. I'm pretty sure head to head record counts as the first tie breaker but, whatever.

    Go Jets!

  84. I'm watching The Penguin and I really like it. I still can't believe it's Colin Farrell under that makeup and he's doing a phenomenal job as Oswald.
Whether you're into the batman universe or not, it's worth a watch...so long as you're into dark and gritty shit.
Watching The Batman will give you a bit of a prelude to the events of this series.

    1. Thanks for the heads up but pass. After the Christopher Nolan trilogy I had had enough of the Bat. I am looking forward to James Gunn's take on the DCU though.

  85. You can tell the leaf are not doing well. The sfu (tsn) page is crammed full of articles trying to find solutions for their wretched team. LOL!

  90. Honestly, I thought the Giants would be buried by the half. But, somehow they are sticking around and Daniel von Klumsy hasn't turned the ball over yet. Oh well, still two quarters to go for that to happen. Good effort by the NY D tonight.

    1. RIP. One of her early appearances was on the Original Star Trek series in the episode : Assignment Earth, where Kirk and Spock travel back to present day Earth (1967) to prevent the establishing of orbital nuclear weapons. It's one of my favourites. She played the part of a young executive assistant to Gary Seven played by Robert Lansing.
