  4. Team can't win with Primeau putting up these numbers. Time to move on.

Among the 64 goaltenders who have played more than five games since the start of the season, Primeau has the worst save percentage (.844) and the worst goals-against average (4.45) in the NHL.

Jroy doesn’t seem to be impressing anyone
He comes up and goes down as quick as he came up
Don’t think Marty is impressed with his work ethic either that or some games are afoot
He must be special as nobody else seems to go up and down like him

  8. Man, that first gif is ... mesmerizing. But, I digress.

Pure Wool joining Dachtor DoLittle and the Big Sluffoffsky on the 2nd line tonight. That's two sore knees joining a concussed kid. As Mr. Spock would say : "Fascinating."

All kidding aside, I hope they can all motivate each other. I had coffee this morning with my friend the retired Blues scout. He really likes Dach and I trust his opinion. Funny thing, we both had our knees replaced on the same day last year, even spent the night together in the same ward in the hospital. I said this morning that we both know how long it takes to heal from knee surgery so I am cutting Kirby some slack.

The only thing I saw regarding the lines this morning is I would take Hook off line 1 and put Beer there at least to start. Hook is a bottom 6 player at best. And I would put 7Evans between Pony and Lep instead of DVo.

Trivia night for me, it's far more entertaining than watching the Habs play lately, believe me.

If Beer is Heineken then yes try that sucker on line no 1
Personally I think he is the only forward pick not named Suzi or CC that has even come close to working out
    So give him a shot
Let the rehabs rehab on lines 3 and 4 where there is less pressure
We need to score some goals and put up some Ws
Put wool and docster on no 4 with whoever beer on no 1 sevens between Lep and the pony horse
Stop trying to give these million airs confidence ffs
    They’re not children
    They’ll figure it out
    Anyway
Give beer a chance he’s earned it

  27. If we assume Dach figures it out and is worthy of the 2nd line C position (not saying I think he is or will be, but assume the team will keep him there until it's 'more' obvious one way or another), it means the Habs are really only missing one more piece in their top 6. I was never a fan of the Newhook trade, thought it was an overpay, much like the overpay for Dvorak was. He's only ever put up impressive numbers in his draft year, and that was in the BCJHL. Hinyman hasn't either, but he seems to have a really good shot so I'd put him on that top line...but the fear is probably that Newhook would be even less effective in a bottom 6 role.

I'd leave Beck right where he is and see if he can help Laval go deep in the AHL playoffs or even win a championship. He won the Memorial Cup last season with Saginaw.

Brian Wilde is advocating trading for a true 2C to back up Nick, I agree. Dach can't do it this year, he is terribly slow and can't drive a line yet. Slaf needs to go back to the #1 line and Dach can play wing on the #2. Trade DVo and let Hook center line #3 with Lep and PonyHorse. 4th line remains 7Evans, Beer and GI Finn.

See how December plays out and if the Habs are still within reach of a wildcard spot pull the trigger. Don't let the season slide away.

I remember reading somewhere that to have a lasting rebuild, one that is going to lead to years of competitive hockey you need three years of top 5 picks
Three years where you get a bonafide stud. I think the Slavester would be one and pretty sure half-a-dov would also be one so I'm thinking that maybe the Rino pick put us back a year.
Maybe should have picked the ruski. Could have would have.
Anyway this should be our third and last year of picking high so we can't drop the ball on this one cause I'm pretty sure we are about to rise up out of the basement which takes away our high picks as we find ourselves in no mans land middle of the road or worse picks.
So I don't have a problem with reving up the sherman shit we've come this far.
We know who's going at the tdl and who's staying.
So lets cycle the goalies the forwards and the D from Laval see who's who and grin and bear it cause I'm pretty sure better times are comin.

But I find it both hilarious and pathetic that the SFU were all over Ohtani and this latest guy, with multiple articles about how the Jays have a chance at landing them. FFS. Now they're all about Vladdy Jr, (who should be an Expo) and what his next contract is worth. I would love to see him walk away from that team. Because, fuck tronna.

    1. It's pathetic, as Jack Todd pointed out, the sfu use this as a tactic to try to keep people interested in their shit team. Nobody of interest is ever coming to that city. F*ck them.

  93. I just tuned in briefly, I have a feeling they are going to blow this so I'll tune out. Good Luck!

  94. Oh ffs, I'm getting tired of this lopsided reffing. Checks from behind on Habs players perfectly legal. And weak calls on the Habs. Hate complaining about reffing, but jeez...

  96. Monty vs. Terry all night. Good to win this one. Trouba and Gudas are fierce on that blue line.

  97. Besides the Jets game on Saturday, the Habs play the Pens-Buf-Det-Det-BJs before Christmas, all teams sitting between the Habs (currently last) and the 2nd wildcard spot (which is only 4 pts above the Habs). It's clear they have work to do, but there are issues on every team in the east, including the wildcard teams TB and NYR, down to the bottom. So perhaps they will be 'in the mix' at Christmas if they win 4 of the next 6?

    1. Possible but I prefer to not get my hopes up. I'm just hoping and praying they can extract some revenge on Sid and his flightless birds. I'm sick of losing to those guys.

  99. Jeff Gorton dropped a few names last night on the Prime intermission, demigod, Hage, Logan, Bach and Fowler, so you know he and Hughes are planning a long way out. Probably 3 years at the earliest, but likely longer.

    1. I like him. He always plays well vs the Habs. But he has a no move clause and 5 more years at 8.5 per to age 36. it's unlikely he waives to go to Montreal.

      Delete
    2. Like Chiara, he's ugly enough to still be a force of nature well beyond 36. And with cap rising, that contract should age well. I doubt Drury is dumb enough to want to move him.

  101. Winnipeg put a beat-down on the hated beaners last night. I'm glad the 'Peggers got that out of their system before Montreal comes to town. I would be happy with a loser point but a win would be nice.

  102. Sid got booed at home after the beatdown by his Cole Harbour buddy Nate, and hasn't scored in 7 games. Sounds like a recipe for a big night for him in Montreal. Maybe even a hat trick.

I thought of saying "Hey if you don't want to get booed at home, come to Montreal!" But there are enough A-hole Habs fans that would still boo him on a bad night. Probably the same fans singing olรฉ in the first period.

    1. Pretty sure those a-hole fans singing ole in the 1st period are drunk. Why else would they be doing something that dumb?
Can I ask how you put accents over the letters on a key board? Never figured that out.

    2. I usually post on my phone and just hold down the letter which brings up options with different accents. But I use this specific accent on different occasions at work on my keyboard and use the Alt key +130 (if memory serves correct)

  104. not watching this homestand live, but following on highlites.
    1. is it just me, or does sportsnet have better highlites than nhl.com? not much different, but usually a little longer?

    2. is it just me, or have the boys found a lot of energy since St. Patrick 2.0 has joined the line-up?

    3. is it just me, or is powerhouse playing really well this yr (in general). every highlite, i can see him busting in on goal, delivering a big hit, dropping the gloves... basically doing everything he was supposed to be doing... except cashing his chances... 'sigh'

    4. speaking of this... is it just me, or are the boys really really good at creating grade-a chances and almost always failing to finish? this isnt just limited to one-off chances by barron, dvork, lipp, whoever is in the right place at the right time, but for even guys like cpt nick, CC, and heineman?

    1. 1. I don't use either site so can't comment.

      2. It seems like they are playing better, but they actually were before Wool came back.

      3. The now ponyhorse has reinvented himself, playing more of a checking, shit disturber role, killing penalties and potting the odd goal. He is delivering more hits and has won a couple of big fights, he has earned his spot.

      4. You're not wrong, they do leave a lot of grade A chances unfinished especially breakaways as we witnessed against Washington last week.

      5. Yes, they are kind of hanging around a wildcard spot but I wouldn't hold my breath. They are still a bottom feeder with a lot of teams in front of them. They would need a good 6 or 7 game win streak to get into the (real) picture and play .500 or better to get in.

      Cheers!

  105. 5. season isnt lost. all i wanted was for them to still be alive come xmas/ St.P's return, and i have my wish. if they average 3-2-1 rest of way, ide be satisfied with whatever fate befals them. GYFHG! aside from upgrading our goaltender position, i feel legitimately encouraged they can get some coaches fired in the playoffs!

MSL: what are we gonna do?
Devo: throw up all over ourselves!
    MSL: HUH?
Devo: oh, I thought I heard you saying that, coach.
MSL: Deve, Deve, Deve, no! That's what you should not do! It's bad. Please stop doing it!!
