  4. You've got some shovelling to do. Or snow blowing.

As I'm now a septuagenarian I rely on other people to move snow. I can do a light dusting but for the big storms I pay my neighbour and his son to do it. I decided last December after a wet, heavy dump I couldn't do it manually anymore.

Demidov is the most purely skilled forward prospect in the sport and has just broken the KHL's U20 scoring record, eclipsing the marks previously set by Kirill Kaprizov, Matvei Michkov and Evgeny Kuznetsov.

Last season, Demidov’s play during the MHL playoffs (which ended due to a lower-body injury just prior to SKA winning the championship) crystalized him behind Macklin Celebrini as the No. 2 prospect in the 2024 NHL Draft for me. His play in the last couple of months with SKA in the KHL has done the same for him as one of the top prospects — period — in the game for me. He’s got brilliant individual talent but I’ve also heard good things about his work ethic on and off the ice, he's in great shape (an athletic 6-foot-0.5 and 190ish pounds) and he has developed some layers to his game so that he’s not a one-trick pony as a dancing offensive-zone player (and he has played to excellent two-way results for a winger in the KHL this season because of it).

Demidov is a skill-first playmaking forward who finished third in the MHL in scoring two years ago (extremely rare for a player that age in a league typically dominated by 19- and 20-year-olds) and played at a higher point-per-game pace than the two players in front of him alongside his older brother, Semyon. Last season, after a strong preseason with SKA, he won a KHL job out of camp but played little and then, after bouncing between levels trying to rediscover his game, injured his knee and missed a month and a half. After returning, he tore up the MHL with one multi-point game after another and five to 10 shots per game, putting together one of the most productive extended stretches of play ever at Russia’s top junior level and making pretty goals look casual. This season, despite averaging under 13 minutes per game on the year (though he has played 18-to-20-plus of late), he's still SKA's second-leading scorer.

Demidov's a true play creator and you want the puck in his hands so that he can slip around the ice to make things happen for himself or his linemates. His ability to get off the wall to the middle with the puck on his stick into traffic, his manipulation one-on-one, his knack for dodging sticks and checks, his heel-to-heel maneuvering, his cross-body handles and his passing through layers to the weak side of coverage are all extremely high-end and look singular to him and his very wide stance/unique posture. And while his skating in straight lines doesn't have your standard look to it and was a topic of conversation pre-draft, he's still a fast skater and very shifty side to side. He's got elite handling (though he can get himself into trouble trying to beat two or three guys in a crowd, he also often beats multiple guys in a sequence and has a major highlight reel quality) and has made more one-on-one skill plays over the last two seasons in the MHL and now KHL than almost any prospect I've scouted for any draft. He’s also a pretty engaged off-puck player who keeps his feet moving, hunts pucks on the forecheck and can turn a steal into a game-breaking play in an instant. Demidov’s one of the most dynamic and skilled prospects to come out of Russia in recent memory (his game also has more of a pro style, competitiveness and roundedness to it than Michkov's had at the same age).

He profiles as a point-per-game, first-line, all-star-level winger. I truly believe he's going to mesmerize in the prime of his career in the NHL.

Fowler has established himself as one of the top goalie prospects in the sport with his play over the last three seasons. That started when he was named to the USHL’s All-Rookie Second Team three years ago and its First All-Star Team two years ago after leading the league in both save percentage and goals-against average. It was stamped last year with a stellar freshman year at BC that saw him play virtually every minute behind the top-ranked team in the country (and while the team in front of him helped, their strength was most pronounced at forward and he stole some games and was deservedly named Hockey East Goaltender of the Year). And it has been cemented this year with a repeat performance as the MVP (for me) of another top-ranked Boston College team, his save percentage rising from last year's .926 to the high .930s. (I should note that I’ve seen him look just OK with Team USA both in Gothenburg at the World Juniors and Plymouth at the World Junior Summer Showcase, but he was also excellent at the World Jr. A Challenge and the body of work over the last four years is unimpeachable.)

He’s the kind of goalie who if he can see a shot and move to it, he’s going to stop it.

He had some work to do on some other things (conditioning/fitness, less business on scrambles, losing his posts at times) pre-draft but he has worked hard at it and is by all accounts committed to staying in better shape (he's still listed at a heavy 225 pounds for 6-foot-2 but there has been progress off the ice), and has so many clear tools, highlighted by great hands, an ability to take space away through square angles and sound positioning, high-end tracking/reads, excellent rebound control, legitimate power/movement and a knack for making huge pad saves and stopping high-danger chances. He rarely gets beat through the body or frozen. He doesn't show holes in the net and has the reflexes to get a piece of (or ahold of) pucks when he does. He’s got a legitimate shot not just to be an NHL goaltender but to be a top one, and there aren’t many goalies his age (or even a little older) I’m comfortable saying that about. He seems to pitch a shutout once or twice a month these days and I think he's got a compelling case for the Hobey Baker this year.

  15. Like most Habs fans, I have high hopes for Demigod but we should remember it's tough breaking into the NHL. Let's give him some slack. Same with Fowler, a year in the AHL won't hurt him just like TFS before him.

As for nostrils, who I assume is captain underpants/narcos, well it's self explanatory why the sfu/sn are all over him. He's the greatest player in the history of hockey and they will be cheering hard for the US to win so can can blow him even harder.

I could write a 2000 page novel of drivel like Sochisnkeny. That was USAID drivel. I could write a perfect script about the White Helmets and win a OSCAR. I chose not to. Why did I make this decision? Well for one I am a very average writter. For reference if you think I am a CRAZY MAGNA HAT, I am not
I can provide 10 year old links where I say golden asshole who does not have enough pressure to make a fart. So what can we do as a collective to keep our country like it is? I am one credit from the University of Western Ontario from having a degree in Economics. I graduated with a history degree, because I thought a degree in economics was like a degree in magical manipultaton.
Plus I would have had to study to get that last credit.
So what I am saying is that unlike the Canada series in 1971, a defeat of the players playing our game will register ZERO.

That’s true, in every way. We should get to the other part of what made this night so meaningful. It wasn’t just that the Bell Centre crowd booed the American anthem again. You pick the fight, we respond, is the thing.
No, it was how they sang “O Canada”. The Bell Centre is the greatest hockey rink in the world, in a province where the love of country can be a complicated thing, but that crowd of Quebecois fans belted out “O Canada” with their whole chests, their whole hearts, in French and in English.
And yeah, Canada lost the hockey game, and yeah, Canada will get another chance, and no, none of this solved anything.
But we got to see how much this matters to us, the game and the country, and that was worth something. Let’s hope we get to see it again.

    1. I think it would be safe to say Americans are the most despised people on Earth, generally speaking. Whether it's foreign policy, unlimited greed or the fact they feel they can do whatever they want they piss off a lot of people. Canadians, for the most part, always got along with them despite this and we always freely travelled both ways between countries. With felon47's attack on us and now the EU, they are on their way to being pariahs. No one will want anything to do with them. And it's a shame because only about one-third of them are the problem. I can foresee a revolt or civil war of some kind in the next 4 years.

This team is not well constructed just like the World Junior team who left most of the high end talent at home. Team USA captain Auston Matthews sensed that Saturday's showdown with Team Canada may start with some fireworks.
"Definitely wanted to come out and send a message right away," Team USA's captain said. "And those three guys stepping up like that, I mean, those guys are as hard as it gets when it comes to just playing the game hard and with an edge."
Matthew Tkachuk challenged Brandon Hagel to a fight off the opening faceoff. Off the ensuing faceoff, younger brother Brady Tkachuk dropped the gloves with Sam Bennett. And just seconds after the next faceoff, J.T. Miller went at with Colton Parayko.
"Just to get the game started like that, I thought it gave our bench a lot of energy, a lot of life and we just went from there," Matthews said.
Three fights in nine seconds of game time in a hostile environment. The Tkachuk brothers and Miller plotted the passionate start in a group chat conversation hours before the game.
What message did Team USA send?
"We're here to win," Matthews said. "That's about it. That's the bottom line is we're here to win."

It was late in the USA-Finland game when Armia cross-checked McAvoy from behind, smacking the top of his left shoulder hard into the goalpost as he fell forward. Then he played injured until it developed an infection within the joint. Now it's an antibiotic drip and a hospital stay.

  61. The only hope that decent Americans have is to rally their forces and take away the House and the Senate in 2026 and neuter the orange turd. In the meantime he and his Nazi boss are going to cause maximum damage. For my own mental well being I'm going to start paying less attention to all the turmoil.

Trump does good and bad. Stopping the SEE AYE AYE soft power world wide is a good idea.
Waging war on Canada, not so much. The whole mess of the USAID and he has not touched the NED is a shamwhoo moment. Zelensky by any definiton is a dictator that make Putin look like Ghandi. The world we knew is falling apart, and Supply Managment of food is a national treasure.

  65. Damn politics.
I mentioned previously that there isn't a real difference between parties in NS.
Well I guess that is unless you give what you thought to be a centre leaning PC a super majority with 78% of the House. Note. I did not vote for him because I've always considered him a weasel.
In his first month he's talking about deregulating fracking and opening up NS for uranium exploration. In a province of this size and considering the geology...well, smarter people than me have identified this already as incredibly dangerous. Including Premiere Houston when he was in opposition.
Now he's looking to pass a law that would allow him to fire the Auditor General without cause. The AG is a non-partisan position. In theory. The only reason to pass that law would be to hide shit without worrying about your secret agenda. It in my mind is the largest affront to democracy I've seen in this province in my nearly 30 years here.

Bottom line. Be careful when you cast your vote at any level. Whether you're left, right or centre remember that absolute power corrupts. Absolutely.

Who would have ever thought it would come to this? I truly don't understand how the American people are letting this happen.

Wayne the Traitor and trump ass kisser will be long remembered as our Benedict Arnold. Wayne played out the string for the big bucks in New York. He lost in the Olympics in '96 while Sid won gold in 2010 and 2014. Sid stayed loyal to his NHL team. I'm still hoping he will come to Montreal if even for just one season.
